🔹Cats have a diverse vocal range of sounds.

🐾Cats tend to direct their meows to humans rather than to other cats. Although meows are heard when kittens are exchanged, they are rarely heard during domestic cat-cat interactions. The function of the meow is usually incitement (greeting, attention-related to food, or when the kitten is separated from the queen).

🐾Cats purr in many situations - in both positive and negative contexts. Queen's purr when feeding kittens and kittens purr while feeding. Cats also purr when resting or rubbing next to a feline companion, when greeting their owners and when being stroked or groomed on the owner's lap.

🐾The function of the trill is to convey a greeting, attract attention, and encourage companionship with other cats. Trills and chirps are directed at people and appear along with meows. The high Chirp sound is also thought to mimic the chirping of birds or rodents to lure prey.

🐾The feline chirp occurs when the cat considers elusive prey. It is usually directed at birds but can be aimed at other games and toys.

🐾The hissing sound is made in aggressive situations or defensive confrontations to alert others and is accompanied by a change in body position.

🐾The growl is also used in offensive and defensive interactions, both between cats and toward other animals, to frighten or intimidate the enemy.

🐾When a cat yells, it conveys strong negative emotions such as fear and pain. If the threat intensifies as it approaches, the cat may suddenly let out a scream to frighten the enemy and allow the cat to run away or attack quickly

🐾Cats are excellent communicators, and if we watch their vocalizations, body language, and facial expressions closely, we will realize that they are trying to communicate with us and relay important information about their overall health and well-being.

It can get in its natural habitat - mice, birds, and the few insects it can catch - is inferior and highly scarce by human standards.

The pet does not need culinary delights. But owners should not forget that to maintain excellent health; a cat needs a balanced diet that contains enough protein, fats and carbohydrates, and vitamins and minerals. Gastronomic experimentation for cats is not necessary.

A plate of pasta is a favorite dish of many people. But can a cat be allowed to eat this tasty food, too? Can cats eat pasta? Experts say that yes. Pasta is safe for most cats and can be consumed by pets from time to time. But it is worth remembering about safety precautions before offering such a dish to your furry cat.

When we take in a cat, we take on a lot of responsibility because the health and well-being will be up to us. Whether a kitten or an adult cat, we must adequately inform ourselves. The vet will tell us about the most common diseases, how often we need to renew the water and sandbox, or some of the feeding details.

Let's figure out how good it is to let your cat eat pasta and other foods off your plate. Our new article on the site will help - follow the link in the profile description! We're waiting for your likes and comments!

✂️Grooming of the Week✂️
Shearing cats' coats can reduce the risk of tangles, help them stay cool during hot summers, and even reduce the effects of hairballs.

Scalloping is one of the most standard cat "hairstyles. In this haircut, the groomer leaves the classic hair around the paws, head, and tail and takes the length from the central part of the hair. The scalloped haircut can only be done on cats that do not have existing tangles or tangles.

The lion haircut is most often used to remove tangles on a cat's belly. It involves shaving the hair entirely down to the skin on the torso, leaving the head, paws, and tail. The hair is also shaved down to the shoulders, creating the impression of a lion's mane, hence the name of the haircut!

The kitten clip is not a kitten clip but a steady clip for any cat, giving it a youthful look. The kitten clip is similar to the comb clip, where the head, paws, and tail are not trimmed.

The belly shave speaks for itself. It involves the lower part of the cat's body from the aerial to the tail, which must be shaved close to the skin. This is done solely for sanitation purposes.

The next haircut is usually known as a "sanitary" or "hygienic" haircut. This haircut is a smaller version of a shaved abdomen; instead of shaving the entire lower body, only the area around the buttocks is shaved.

The general principle of the next haircut is just a lion's haircut; the dragon haircut adds something else to get your cat talked about in the neighborhood. The general grooming principle shaves the entire torso and leaves the head, paws, and tail. But as a bonus, a hair trail is left along the spine, connecting the head coat to the tailcoat.

The teddy haircut is more of an addition to other haircuts than its hairstyle. The "teddy" haircut involves shaping the hair around the muzzle to create the look of a perfectly adorable teddy bear.

The panther haircut is a more extreme version of the lion haircut. The panther haircut shaves off as much hair as possible, leaving only a minimum around the head.

🐾Tick removal is undoubtedly one of the little fun summer activities we have to look forward to every year. So, what can you do to keep your cat safe from ticks this season?

◻️Tick pills. One of the benefits of using a tablet once a month is that you don't have to worry about small children and cat contact immediately after application or the cat leaving pesticide residue on furniture, as you can with spot treatments.

◻️Bathing your cat with a shampoo containing therapeutic ingredients usually kills mites on contact. This can be an inexpensive (though time-consuming) method of protecting your cat during peak tick season.

◻️The dip is a concentrated chemical that should be diluted in water and applied with a sponge to your pet's coat or poured on the back. You will not rinse your pet after applying the dip. They can be solid, so you should read the labels carefully before using them.

◻️Tick repellent collars are an additional preventative you can use, although they are mostly only useful for protecting the neck and head from ticks. The collar must contact your cat's skin to allow the chemicals to get onto her coat and skin.

◻️Another method of topical treatment is tick powders. Ensure that the powder you are using is labeled for cats before using it. Also, make sure you check the label to make sure the product is designed to kill ticks and fleas.

◻️Another topical medication, a tick spray, quickly kills ticks and provides residual protection. Wreaths can be used between shampoos and baths and can be helpful if your cat spends a lot of time in the woods.

◻️Mow your lawn, bushes, and trees to reduce the population of fleas and ticks in your backyard. The fewer places for these parasites to live and breed, the less they will be to worry about.

◻️After walking outside in areas where ticks may be lurking, thoroughly check your cat for ticks. Look between the toes, inside the ears, between the legs, and around the neck.

🐱Cats have always held a special place in Japanese culture. They used to live in monasteries and guarded ancient scrolls against rodents. Why did they gain the status of guardians of the Sacred Scriptures? The Japanese have retained a respectful attitude toward cats to this day. For example, the Gotokuji Temple in Tokyo is where pets are buried with all honors. Every year, on February 22, there is a holiday in Japan - Cat Day. Japanese nicknames for cats and cats are not chosen by chance: they are carefully selected by the nature and color of the animal. The name of each Japanese cat reflects the personality of the animal.

🐱Japanese names for cats have become popular worldwide because each character has its unusual translation.
The best Japanese names for cats are filled with love and respect, and each one has a special meaning. You can also name your furry pet in Japanese, considering its background, temperament, and habits. Usually, exotic names are given to cats of rare breeds, but sometimes you can meet a simple "purr" named Sakura just because her owner is an avid fan of anime.

🐾The Savannah Cat is a spotted domestic cat breed that emerged in the 1980s. Designed to give the grandeur and dignity of a wild cat with cheetah-like looks, expressive eyes accentuated by dark tear patches, bright coat coloring, solid contrasting black spots, huge sonar-like ears, and long legs.

🐾Since 2006, Savannah Cats have been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest domestic cat globally. They require no special health care and have regular vet visits.
Their high intelligence, combined with their natural curiosity, drives them to prank. Their high intelligence, interest, and high need for energy make them best suited to active, dedicated owners.

🐾Temperament is outstanding with proper training; some say they are the cat version of a dog. Ideal companions for owners who want to avoid additional canine needs but want an active and attractive pet. They actively seek social interaction. They tend to sulk if left out. Remain a kitten for life—deep loyalty to immediate family members.

🐾Savannah cats may be hesitant about the presence of strangers but warm up quickly as they are curious about the desire to interact. Great companions for dedicated owners, loyal, intelligent, and eager to participate. They have demonstrated the ability to learn simple and complex commands.

🐾It may seem surprising that most savannah owners do not buy cats because of their exotic appearance. Instead, they are looking for a pet with a combination of traits the Savannah cat has to offer.

🐾Savannah cats are like "working dog breed" owners; they are full of energy, very intelligent (problem-solving), curious, well-trained, and can be strong-willed.

🐾DIY manicures take a different turn when it comes to your cat. Have you heard of this thing, kitty tips?
No, not polish, acrylic, or UV gel, but vinyl tips that fit over your cat's natural claws. A veterinarian developed SoftPaws as an alternative to removing nails from cats. This process does not seem to hurt them, although there is an adaptation period, and it is something you can do on your own.

🐾What are the benefits of this manicure?

1. You do not have to address the issue drastically - cut off the claws, and trim the ligaments.
Glue special caps are a painless procedure and do not require much time and anesthesia.
2. Thanks to the bright design, your cat/cat will look stylish.
3. Your furniture and other surfaces will remain intact.
4. You and your household will no longer walk around with scratches after playing with your cat.
5. The cat/cat is uncomfortable with long claws, so it is worth manicuring once a month.
A pack of Soft Paws consists of 40 nail tips and two tubes of glue and sells for under $20 plus shipping. A variety of colors, including glitter!

🐾You don't have to catch your cat to do an uncomfortable procedure, and your furniture and body will be scratch-proof!

In 1868, the London Money Transfer Service officially employed three cats as mouse catchers. They received a salary of one shilling a week, usually spent on their upkeep.
According to the Postal Museum, the most famous postal cat was Tibs, who weighed about 10.4 kg. He was born in November 1950 and lived in a club where the General Post Office employees gathered. He managed to keep rats and mice out of the building throughout his 14 years of service.

In the summer of 2016, the Durham Police Department hired Mittens, the cat.
Oscar the cat, who works at Huddersfield's Holmfires Police Station, is responsible for "providing psychotherapeutic support to police officers." Similar work is done by Smokey the cat, a volunteer at Skegness police station. His duties include creating a positive atmosphere at the police station.

There has always been a place for cats in front of the camera in feature films. Two red Persian cats played the role of the Bellybutton in the Harry Potter movies, and the role of Mrs. Norris was played by three Maine C**n cats.

Until 1960, the British Museum was home to an entire colony of cats.
The cats protected the museum from the spread of rodents and were often the subjects of newspaper articles. Susie became famous for her ability to catch pigeons in the air; Pippin and Poppet could somersault on command.

Every British ship had at least one cat on board during World War II. But only Simon the cat received the Mary Deakin Medal, Britain's highest military award for animals, for helping rescue sailors during the Chinese Civil War from 1949 to 1950. The ship on which Simon the cat was serving was cut off from the main forces of the fleet for 101 days, and during this time, the cat was protecting the food supply from the invasion of rodents.

Another war hero was the Crimean cat Tom, Tom of Sebastopol. He saved the British and French military from starvation during the Crimean War in 1854-55.

🐱There are over 200 cat breeds, but only about 3-5% of domestic cats are purebred?

▫️SPHYNX
Almost hairless body, high ears, wrinkles, smooth skin, and a round belly. The Sphynx's bare hair is caused by a natural gene mutation crossed with the cat-rex.

▫️PETERBALD
Peterbald cats are often considered hairless, but these cats have up to five different hair types, including short or woolly coats.

▫️MUNCHKIN
Munchkin cats, the Dachshund breed, have been around for hundreds of years and are known for their shorter legs but otherwise standard physique.

▫️DEVON REX.
One of the few cat breeds with prominent ears has short, curly, soft coats. This breed was discovered in the 1950s when a woman spotted one kitten in a litter of strays with curly hair, protruding ears, and a tiny muzzle.

▫️JAPANESE BOBTAIL.
This cat breed has a short, puffy tail that looks like a rabbit's tail. Their hind legs tend to be slightly longer than their front legs. This breed is thought to have originated as early as 600 AD when Buddhist monks brought cats from China and Korea to Japan.

▫️SCOTTISH FOLD.
Scottish lop-eared cats have curved ears. The breed originated from a cat named Susie from Scotland, who had lop ears when a shepherd discovered her in 1961.

▫️KHAO MANY.
These cats have creamy white coats and bright green, blue or gold eyes. This breed has no undercoat due to the warm temperatures in Thailand.

▫️PIXIBOBOB
Founding breeder Carol Ann Brewer claims that Pixiebob cats come from a line of naturally occurring lynx hybrids, but the genetic evidence is inconclusive.

▫️SAVANNAH
It results from a cross between a domestic cat and a serval. Savannah cats are giant, usually weighing up to 30 pounds, and are considered the tallest domestic cat breed globally.

▫️PERSIAN TEACUP.
The Persian teacup is not some strange breed of cat - it is a type of Persian cat that has been bred very small. Some are so tiny they can fit in the palm of your hand!

The most unusual cats in Ukraine

The fattest cat in Ukraine is nine-year-old Matis from Donetsk. The weight of this red cat is 17 kg, waist circumference - 67 cm, and the length from ears to tail - almost a meter.

The oldest cat in the country lives in Kiev and has the name Kuzya. The cat is 23 years old (140-150 years by human standards!), and the owner brought it from a trip to the U.S., where she worked for a year.
Ukrainian numismatics is rich with cats: four cats are minted in metal. It's hard to say what breed of cat is minted on the silver coin, because the artists Vladimir Taran and the brothers Alexander and Sergey Kharuka drew it in the kooky style. But the cat is cute, fluffy, mustachioed, with green eyes made of Alpine semiprecious stone.

The cat from Donetsk named Oliver Illanius is one of the most titled cats in Ukraine. He is the only WCF (World Cat Federation) World Champion among Persian chinchillas in our country.

Rescuers officially recognized Murlyana from the town of Chudnov, Zhitomir region as a heroine. The room was engulfed in flames, but the cat jumped onto its owner's chest and began zealously scratching until it woke him up. The veteran said that the cat even tried to pull him by the scruff of the neck, but he didn't have enough strength.

And a cat from Sevastopol nicknamed "Tatarin" rescued his 26-year-old mistress, when he saw that the heater and the crib were on fire, he meowd furiously and woke up his soundly sleeping mistress.

The cat Fedor lives in Lugansk region, and when he saw that there was a burglar in the house, he woke up the owner with his meow.

In Ukraine in 2005, a new breed of cat appeared: the Ukrainian lion cat. It is a lop-eared cat without fur, there are about 2000 such cats in the world. And it was bred by felinologist from Kiev Elena Biryukova. "This is a cat-dog: affectionate and friendly. They are safe for babies and decorative rats."

31/03/2022

🐱Usually, a cat has five toes on its front paws and four on its back feet. Polydactyl cats have 1-2 more toes than their regular counterparts on one paw. Additionally, the configuration of these toes is different. The polydactyl gene is found in 40-50% of all cases and is independent of gender.

🐾Polydactyl cats are sometimes called "glove cats" or "Hemmingway cats." The latter name refers to the writer Ernest Hemingway, who was given his first polydactyl cat, Snowball, by a ship's captain and fellow traveler. Thanks to rampant breeding, nearly 50 of Snowball's descendants still live at the Hemingway home in Key West, Florida.

🐾Cats with extra toes have the dominant PD gene. The cat only needs one copy of the gene from either parent to have the trait. Consequently, if one parent has extra toes, 50% of kittens will have them too. Polydactyly does not affect cats negatively. It's just an adorable quirk.

🐾The claws associated with extra toes are usually normal, although sometimes the extra toe may not be fully formed, and the nail bed is deformed, leading to claw problems such as ingrown or enlarged nails. Like all feline claws, overgrown ones require regular clipping.

🐾In 1974, a cat was found to have 32 toes, eight on each paw. The current record holder is Tiger, a 27-fingered kitten from Alberta, Canada.

🐾Interestingly, the residents of New England (northeastern United States), where the phenomenon is widespread among the Maine C**ns, consider them aborigines of these lands. There is a widespread belief that Maine C**ns are excellent hunters, and extra toes make them more agile, tenacious, and stable, allowing them to move freely through the deep snow without falling into it.

🐾Have you met any of these cats? What were your impressions?

🐈‍⬛When a cat gets tangles, there are only a few options for removing them: either shave them off entirely or comb them out.

🐈‍⬛Since cat tangles are tangled, brushing them out or using any spray or product to untangle them is useless.

🐈‍⬛Adding these products can do more harm than good to your cat's coat. Cloth removal sprays can remain on the skin, which can be licked off when the cat later starts grooming. These sprays often contain fragrances, silicones, and other ingredients not meant to be ingested by cats.

🐈‍⬛There are two ways to safely remove tangles: comb them out entirely or shave them off with professional pet clippers.

🐈‍⬛If the tangles are small, about the size of a nickel or less, there's a good chance they can be combed out without using a hair clipper. A sturdy metal comb at least six to eight inches in size will be the best tool. Tiny combs or flea combs have teeth that are too close together to pull out tangles without pulling too much hair.

🐈‍⬛When the tangles are too big, too dense, or is too sensitive an area, shaving may be better than combing them out. A professional pet clipper with a #10 blade can often remove tangles faster and without additional skin pulling.

🐈‍⬛Whether brushing or shaving, many tangles leave a bald spot after removal.
In some cases, a burn may occur after removing the tangles. This is caused by the cat licking itself in the same place repeatedly. Cats do this because the webs put a lot of strain on the skin, and the skin becomes more sensitive, inflamed, or itchy after the tangles are removed.

▪️Has your cat ever had tangles? How have you dealt with the problem?

🐯If you've ever wanted to get your miniature leopard, the Bengal cat may be just the right breed for you. These cats were bred to mix the beautiful wild looks of an actual leopard with the domestic behavior of a domestic cat.

🐱Bengals are a hybrid cat breed. In the early 1900s, breeders crossed domestic cats with Asian leopard cats, a small wild species native to Southeast Asia. Asian leopard cats, also known as Felis bengalensis, where "Bengal cat" comes from, are known for their slender build and rugged appearance.

🐱According to time, the average lifespan of a Bengal cat is between 10 and 16 years. However, this will depend on many factors, such as the cat's overall health and whether they live at home or outdoors.

🐱Don't let their wild appearance fool you - Bengal cats can be just as friendly and loving as other domestic breeds. Cats like these:

▫️Highly intelligent and curious
▫️Quick learners
▫️Talkative
▫️Playful, energetic, and agile
▫️Affectionate and loyal.

🐱These cats are fiercely loyal to their humans, but they're not big fans of being restrained or held like any active breed. Their high intelligence means that you can teach them to do complex tricks, such as using the toilet and flushing it.

🐱Bengal cats are very athletic and full of energy with a robust and muscular body. They love to climb and have even been known to enjoy the water. You should make sure your Bengal has a tall cat tree and toys that will exercise his mind and body.

✂️Grooming of the Week ✂️

🐱Most cats do not like to have their claws trimmed. Start clipping kittens' claws to get them used to the process. Some cats will happily sit on your lap or the table while you trim their claws, but many need some sort of restraint.
To keep the cat in your lap, use your forearms wrapped around the cat's neck and your butt to keep the cat in your lap.

🐱Several nail trimmers, including guillotine type, scissors, and standard nail clippers. The guillotine type or the nail clipper is the easiest to use on cats.
The scissor-type is used if the toenail is so long that it curls in a circle. Long claws can ingrow into the pads of the toe.

🐱Cats have retractable claws, so you need to gently squeeze your finger between your thumb and forefinger to expose the nail.

🐱Most cats have light-colored claws, which makes it easy to see the blood vessels and nerves that feed the nail, in the form of a pink stripe at the base of the claw, which is called a fast. You want to cut the foot about 2 millimeters from the tip.

🐱If you cut on life, the claw will bleed, and the cat will be in pain.

🐱Light-colored claws can be trimmed with one notch on each nail.
If the trimmer is positioned parallel to the nail (cutting from side to side), the pin is squashed and may split.

🐱The sharper the trimmer, the cleaner the cut. You can use a nail file to smooth out the end of the nail after trimming.

🐱Cats have a nail on the inside of each paw called a dewclaw. Be sure to trim them, as they don't wear out when the cat scratches and can grow in circles, growing into the paw.

🐱Do you trim your cat's claws yourself? Or do you seek help from a veterinarian? Share with us in the comments!
