Why is this such an important difference to know about? Often when people find a turtle their first instinct is to put it near or in a body of water. Unfortunately if they were to do that with a tortoise it would not be able to swim to safety on land!

To beat the heat, kangaroos employ a clever strategy: they lick their hands and forearms, where the skin is thinnest. This action moistens the skin, initiating the cooling process through evaporation. By cooling the blood vessels beneath the skin, kangaroos effectively lower their body temperature to help beat the heat of the day!
