DONA,
the sweetest Malinois girl you will ever meet. She is about 5-6 years old. She is very cheerful and playful, but the street also taught her to be careful and fearful but without any sign of aggression. If she feels threatened she will back up.
She is a very clever dog and it really is a pity that she is still waiting for a home. She would make a perfect pet in any kind of family, with kids or no kids, with other animals or with no other animals. She loves everyone and is longing for her home for 3,5 years in the pension.

Do you remember Anna?

Well, she remembers you and your help for her to recover after all she'd been through. She is so grateful 🙏🍀❤️

Let me remind you!

She appeared with her eye injury and in heat. She was brave and we were supportive, so she managed to get over it pretty quickly.

After some time, she had been struck by tetanus and sepsis after having swallowed, better to say tried to swallow a bone that got stuck into her mouth, ie. upper jaw and caused tissue rotting.

This time, the recovery was long. It took a month for her muscles to relax and start eating. Then she learned to walk again. All in all, it took about 3 months for her full recovery.

Again, she succeeded! She recovered fully and is now a happy and healthy doggie again.

Anna is still waiting for her home offer.

This 16 year old dog was found freezing in the street some time before New Year. Luckily, he was taken by the volunteers to the city pound.
He is now one of our crew member, whose sponsor is, of course, my dear friend, adopter, helper, donator and sponsor Sarah Clift 🤗❤️

Please meet our grandpa BOSKO 🙇‍♀️ When I talk about him, I mix the names up and usually say another name starting with BO which is not very popular in the UK 😂, so I won't mention it and spoil the name and personality of our dear grandpa.

No one knows how this old dog could survive the street for such a long time whatsoever! Only his soul knows! Now, when he has a warm and safe place to stay at, he only does his needs outside and comes back to sleep in his warm bed. He just needs peace and quiet, some food and warmth ❤️ poor old chap!

To tell you the truth, he's not able to be adopted and travel. It would be another torture for him. Let's just wish him warm and happy days ahead ❤️

The gaze of a pup, captured in the city dog pound in Nis, Serbia, undertook a unique journey through electric impulses, crossing video frames, and reached distant satellites before landing in Ringwood the UK. The recipient? Sarah, who messaged me with certainty – "This is it! I need to save him!"

🧲 This magnetic attraction knows no borders, transcending not only country lines but also the boundaries of our shared humanity.

Sarah, a seasoned rescuer who has already welcomed many dogs into her home, including one of my three-legged companions, felt an unexpected pull. Despite life's complexity and less-than-ideal timing, she knew she had to step up.

As the year draws to a close, let's reflect on our achievements and challenges.
✔ Two dogs were successfully adopted into loving forever homes, bringing joy and fulfillment to their new families.
However, it is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the loss of four beloved companions. 💔

🐾The remaining dogs continue to reside in the boarding home, where the costs have become a significant financial burden. As we approach the end of 2023, we find ourselves faced with a substantial bill that extends into the entirety of 2023.

Despite these difficulties, our commitment to the welfare of these animals remains unwavering.
Your ongoing support and dedication are crucial in making a positive impact on the lives of these deserving animals.

Let's make a better world for the ones who cannot speak forthemselves together!

It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we have to inform you that dear Iris sadly died in the early hours of this morning 💔
Her story -
Iris was found in 2019 by a friend of Nevena’s, lying at the side of the road in a village near Nis. She actually thought she was dead but when she approached she could see she was breathing. As you can see by the photo, she was literally skin and bone. She was rushed to the vet immediately and the diagnosis was not good. She has severe pneumonia, was dehydrated and starved, she could barely stand 😞
It was also discovered that at some time in her life she had contracted Distemper. This is a terrible disease and she was lucky to survive but unfortunately, as happens, she was left with health issues from this.
Her fight was long and difficult but thanks to the amazing vet, she recovered.
Most of the time she was fine and grew strong and for her, very healthy, she loved life, loved dogs and people and she in turn was loved deeply.
Sadly she never did find a home to call her own but she was extremely happy in the pension with the other dogs and cats. She felt safe and loved. Winter would bring issues related to the distemper and pneumonia but she so wanted to live and fought it each time. She seemed invincible, her lust for live was wonderful to see.
5 days ago she refused to eat, Tuesday and Wednesday she ate a little but it was obvious there was something terribly wrong. She was very lethargic 😞
The pension owner took her to the vet but he could find nothing specific wrong. But it was obvious that those awful illnesses had taken their toll, she fought it courageously for 4 years but her poor body couldn’t fight anymore and she went peacefully in her sleep.
Iris, you were a very brave girl and an inspiration! You were deeply loved by Nevena, her family and the pension owner as well as the other dogs and cats.
You will be sorely missed 💔

I was asked the other day about my overall debt and off the top of my head, I estimated it to be around 4 thousand euros. Intrigued by the question, I decided to crunch the numbers, and to my surprise, the debt totaled an unsettlingly large amount, confirmed through four separate calculations.

Pension people call and ask for their money and I am not a person who is able to lie. This honesty, however, comes at a cost—often leaving my family financially strained. Without delving into the details, it's a frustrating situation.

A friend recently sent some money for my kids, and marked that it's exclusively for them. Despite my gratitude, I must redirect it to Anna and Rose's foster lady, whose daughter underwent a costly, urgent surgery. The lady, facing financial strain, kindly asked for assistance.

Setting aside personal challenges, the debt for Nevena's Rescues stands at a daunting 11,280€.

Our Masha ❤️

Masha was one of our most difficult rescues. During her rescue, she bit us all but then enjoyed our company and was very thankful.

It was a cold, snowy and icy night in December 2016. There were 6 of them in that evil place known for extreme dog torture and the man was dangerous and unaccountable.
And there were 6 of us determined to save them no matter what!

The terrain, unknown to us, slippery, in the pitch dark seemed even worse. The only light we had was the light of our phones, but we couldn't use it often in order not to get in danger with the human apparition.

When we entered, all of them started barking. They were scared if another torture was to be expected. They were all chained with heavy, icy-cold chains, even the terrier pup just-a-few-months old carried the same chain and couldn't lift his head.

Two Sarplaninac, two GSDs, one Labrador and the small terrier puppy. All sharing the same fate. We knew, as we had followed the man's whereabouts earlier, that he had just brought that young GSD so he was pretty much ok at the time of the rescue. And we were surprised to find the Labrador and the puppy.

Anyway, we managed to save them all. Masha was difficult to get out of her hole that she dug in the ground to save herself from torture and cold. She had to be pulled out by the chain, she bit our hands, but as soon as she was taken into the lap and driven off that horrible place, she felt relaxed. In the end, she refused to go out of the car and her safe lap.

They were all hungry, thirsty, cold and scared. In a few days, they were relaxed as they saw no danger there. Again Masha was the worst. She weighed only 15 kilos.

Very soon, as they started recovering well, the Labrador and the puppy got their perfect families. Sarplaninac found their perfect spots too. The young GSD was adopted through my friend in a wonderful home. But Masha wasn't that lucky as she still had some issues due to everything she went through.

However, she was happy, safe and loved in the pension she was in! She lived there for about 5 years and died of tumor in her belly.

I hope no one will experience the fate Masha had before we found and saved her! 🙏🍀

After a challenging journey, my 81-year-old dad, a true fighter, is back home after losing a kidney in a fall.
