Have you finished school and looking to achieve your qualifications but don’t feel the classroom is for you?

We will soon have a vacancy for a full time apprentice at Hall Farm Livery Stables.
The role will include all general horse care including mucking out, grooming, preparing horses for competitions, tack cleaning, some exercising (depending on ability) and the opportunity to groom at shows and training days.
Applicants must be confident handling fit competition horses and young stock (most horses are over 16.2hh).
All training will be provided with Keits Training on site, so this would suit someone who would prefer to learn on the job rather than in a classroom.

A work-based apprenticeship will:
• Help you work at the commercial speed equine employers expect.
• Increase your confidence in working with horses, in a team and in the workplace.
• Give you the skills and knowledge to become a competent member of staff.
• Give you a reference for your CV.
• Provide you with essential employability skills to give you the best start in your working life.

Sorry, no accommodation available, but there is possibility of bringing your own horse and receiving training on it for the right candidate.

A day of mixed emotions as we said farewell but not goodbye to our darling Capla.
He has been a truly enjoyable and rewarding horse to have in the yard over the past couple of years as he’s made his transition from racehorse to riding horse and one who’s lovable and kind nature will truly be missed.
He has gone to a lovely girl named Becca who is keen to enjoy him over all disciplines and generally have a new best friend. He really is a lucky boy!
So good luck Capla and we look forward to hearing about your adventures in your new home!

Capla Jaipur
17hh approx 7 year old TB gelding
RoR eligible.
Since leaving racing, Capla has been slowly and thoughtfully produced. He has been to clinics, unaffiliated dressage competitions, pleasure rides and arena hire.
He is about to start his competition career in the next couple of weeks and then his price will increase to reflect this.
An absolute delight in all ways, Capla is ridden by all members of the team and always tries his best to please.
A truly stunning horse who is sure to excel in any sphere.

One of the most satisfying parts of retraining ex racehorses is watching them develop and change shape… however, sometimes it can be one hell of a headache too!!!
The legend that is Prince of Arran has changed shape yet again and we no longer have a saddle that fits him!!!
It is so important for our horses to be comfortable and in the right equipment to allow them to develop correctly, so this really is a non negotiable in our opinion!
What saddles do you guys recommend for a high withered narrow chap that won’t break the bank?!! He’s still got a ways to go before he reaches the shape and size we think he will settle at so budget friendly, but comfortable for the horse is definitely our priority!!
Let us know what you guys have found works for you!!

Happy horses hacking home. Ex flat racer Accession (the bay) who had great success with and ex point to pointer Icthec (I see the sea or Ice to his friends) who enjoyed his career with out doing what they love best!

Come gallop with us! Excuse the terrible video, but today we had a little trip out to where a couple of the horses from the yard were due for a little treatment from the fab Gregor at , and Iceman got to have little run up the gallops… isn’t he such a gent!!!
Really can’t recommend Longholes enough, you don’t have to be a client of Baker Mcveigh to go (although I’d highly recommend it!) and they not only have gallops, but also a water treadmill, salt therapy room, hydrotherapy spa, high speed treadmill, vibrating floor and solarium all open to the public at very reasonable rates! Give them a follow on here, and I would definitely recommend taking your horses across for some treatments, you’ll be seeing a lot of them on our page as we absolutely love them!!!

Next up on meet the horses is our lovely Icthec (pronounced I see the sea!).
Now whilst most of our ex racehorses come to us for reschooling once they have left training, Iceman is a little different.
Owned by Jane and Harry Thorpe-Codman , Ice had a successful Point to point career with Harry and then actually came to us as an already seasoned and experienced hunter with the express purpose of giving yard owner something fun and safe to hunt and generally have a bit of fun on, and let me tell you, he does not disappoint!!
A complete gentleman in every way, Ice is ridden by everyone on the yard and generally just enjoys life as much as we enjoy him!!
Isn’t he handsome!!!

Meet the horses!
Next up is Capla Jaipur
Capla (or Capilala to his friends) is a 7 year old gelding owned by Yard owner (she keeps mumbling about selling him, although I’m not sure anyone believes her 😂😂).
Capla was only very lightly raced before an injury unfortunately ended his flat racing career.
Capla’s favourite thing to do is jump, although he has enjoyed a few successful dressage outings with Natalie and may well do some more in the future.
He also enjoys hacking and pleasure rides, but is not a fan of hunting 😂🙈
In the stable Capla can best be described as a Labrador and his friendly and happy demeanour means he’s never short of fuss or treats!!!

Meet the horses!
First up is yard favourite Pearl Ice.
Pearl is a 14 year old gelding owned by Lady De Ramsey.
Pearl spent his racing career trained by and enjoyed wins both on turf and all weather tracks.
Pearl is ridden by Yard manager Natalie and competes in dressage having recently placed fourth in his British Dressage area festival and is now moving up to competing at elementary level.
When not competing Pearl enjoys time out in the field and hacks around the countryside with his owner.

Thoroughbreds have been a passion of ours for a number of years now, and with a current string of 6 lovely ex racehorses in the yard we hope that you will all enjoy joining us on our journeys too!
