There's no easy way to say this, so we'll just say it- the hounds have decided to retire at the end of this year.
If you have reservations or a meet and greet scheduled, no fear! Of course we're honoring everyone we currently have on our calendar. We just won't be taking any new requests until further notice.
We can't thank everyone enough for what we've built here. We loved on so many hounds... while it was hard work, it was so very worthwhile and rewarding. And we got to know so many wonderful people too! For all that, we give you all a giant, heartfelt THANK YOU.
We will be back in the future, and when we know when for sure, this page will be the first to be updated.
For now, give all your hounds a hug from us. We'll talk to you again soon!

We had a new guest in March as well- introducing Poppy!
Poppy is a beautiful Irish girl with a ton of personality. She is everywhere you go, and will try going through any doorway before you 😄 She is curious and fearless. She earned the nickname Pop-Star here!
15/04/2024
Minky and Gino were back! Minky is sweet and calm, and lets us know exactly what she needs and when. And let's just say Gino keeps us on our feet, lol. 😄
15/04/2024
We had another visit from Clancy and Mercury! These 2 boys entertained us each day of their 4 night stay.
Each stay brings more and more personality from our visiting hounds, and this time we saw Mercury blossom!

EDIT 3: Sweet Erie has returned to her foster home. Her first potential home didn't work out, through no fault of her own.
If you were thinking about adopting her, this may be the universe giving you a little nudge. She is available again, and ready to find her forever home.
26/03/2024
Nina returned for a quick weekend stay! Nina is a sweet cuddlebug who enjoys sunny naps. She loves to remind us exactly when dinnertime is too, just in case we ever forget 😄
23/03/2024
Puma has been known to spend a long weekend.. or four or five with us here. This is Puma's first weekend of the year, where we enjoyed some sunny winter days and cuddlepillar naps.

UPDATE 2: Erie is settling in at her new home, with her 2 older greyhound siblings. We wish her and her new family the very best 💜
UPDATE: Erie's adoption is pending!
The HoundHouse has a very special announcement!
Meet Erie! She's being fostered by friends of ours. She is a loveable 9 year old who came to them, sadly, due to failing health of her owners. She is playful, loveable and gets along great with their greyhounds (unsure if she is cat safe). If you are interested in sweet Erie, let me know, and I can put you in touch with the appropriate people. ❤️
Erie is being rehomed through the amazing Erie Shore Greyhound Adoption of Ohio.

Our friends Jag and Bo were back for another week! These 2 bring a lot of personality with them 😍 and we love it, of course. And for the first time in a long time, Jag didn't steal a single sip of our coffee!
10/03/2024
Our (almost) greyhound friend Crosby stopped by for a few nights. Crosby is our only non-hound guest left from our days on Rover.
He's always so fun to have around!
08/03/2024
Dude was back for his monthly spa vacation! He enjoyed one of Ohio's finest snowfalls.
07/03/2024
We started the year with a week stay with Johnny! Affectionately known as Johnny Pickles here 😄 The first thing he does each morning is find the pickle stuffy, and plays with it all day.
27/01/2024
We had a visit from Angus in November for 3 weeks! Long stays are one of our favorite things as everyone meshes and become one big happy pack. And a long stay from Angus is one of our favorite favourites!
05/01/2024
Blaze had a 2 week stay with us at the end of October to the beginning of November. Blaze has stayed with us over the last several years and needs no introductions or adjustment time, he always picks up right where he left off at his last stay. Which is usually a nap 😄
04/01/2024
Back in November we had a second visit from sweet Cocoa! We enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather and Cocoa found many rays of sunshine to nap under.

Happy New Year to all!
We wanted to give everyone an idea of available dates remaining for the first half of 2024. Admittedly, there isn't much, and for that we thank you all again! As of now, both June and April are fully booked and unavailable. We're going to use the last week in April as a break.
We're behind in so many posts! I'll be working on getting everything up to date over the next week or 2. With adjusting to the new pack, the holidays, and me being sick right now (yuck) things have fell behind. But we've never stopped caring for your babies or booking for 2024.
Each highlighted line represents one booking. You can see we're already super busy! We're so very sorry if we've missed you, you know we would take everyone if we could.
Feel free to text or reply here if you have any questions!

The HoundHouse lost one of their own on December 2, 2023. Our big sweet man Fitz left us after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Zach posted the following on his FB page, and I couldn't have said it better.
The only bad part of owning 5 dogs, if there’s any bad part at all, is knowing you’re eventually going to lose 5 dogs. That bill came due today as we had to say goodbye to our Fitz. Cancer sucks.
I never thought a house with “only” four dogs could feel so empty. Big Fitz, named after a boat that sank, was a presence, an 80 pound couch potato. He was the David Schwimmer of dogs, complicated yet predictable, a friend to all, except maybe his littermate Dellie who admittedly can be pretty annoying. During his track days, he won his share of races but he did some of his best work at lower speeds in his living room office. He was also a reliable pooper who boasted of a personal record of 4 poops on a single walk, a record that might never be broken.
He was a good boy, which I think is the highest honor a dog can achieve.
I can’t believe he’s gone.

We had these 2 brothers stay with us for a whole week! Clancy (black) and Mercury (white with black) were wonderful guests. Both were sweet and affectionate and were an absolute pleasure to hang out with!
31/10/2023
Zach and I, along with our own 5 hounds, wish everyone a very Happy Halloween!
28/10/2023
2 new guests arrived.
2 new beds arrived too.
That means it's time for these 2 littermates to do some resource guarding.
Fitz is using the bed normally, while Dellie chose to fold the bed, so she can resource guard more of it 😆

Awesome news: we had a quick overnight visit from Dude!
Not so awesome news: we won't see Dude anymore this year 😭
We were truly spoiled to have this guy visit so often this year. He brightens our day, each time he's here 🥰
23/10/2023
We hosted 2 new guests for 2 weeks, and one was our first galgo! Meet Winnie (black, greyhound) and Cleo (fawn, galgo). Winnie was a roaching master while Cleo loved belly rubs next to me on the couch.
Both girls were very sweet and we loved having them visit!
19/10/2023
You can take the bed away to vacuum, but you can't take the hound away from the bed. 😆
(or something like that lol)
18/10/2023
This handsome young Irish boy spent another 2 weeks here with us! Johnny's the 5th Irish hound that we've hosted... and I'm starting to think the Irish ones have a little mischievous streak. His favorite activities this time were bringing us things that aren't dog toys (couch cushions and the bedroom pillows), stalking the wildlife in the backyard, and stealing his own bags of food. Ok, that last one definitely isn't new. 😆
Do you have an Irish greyhound? And do they have a mischievous streak too?

We're honored to have hosted this sweet senior for the first time - for nearly 2 weeks! Cocoa is a 12 year old who enjoyed the last of the warm autumn days by sunning and sniffing outside. She made good use of all the comfy beds too. We love her all white senior face 😍
08/10/2023
We had a wonderful visit with our friend Dude, and this time for over a week! We were so fortunate to have him visit during the Great Global Greyhound Walk, where he joined in the walk with our own Phoenix and Mr. Lover.
29/09/2023
Miss Ruby spent 2 weeks here at the HH! Ruby Roo is an expert roacher and is always in the middle of the action- just look at the pics. You'd never know she's 11.5!
Ruby was treated to one of Parma's homecoming parades too. And of course, is the hound in the middle 😆

Skylar stopped by for a quick weekend stay. Skylar recently became a big sister to a new (non-greyhound) puppy back home. Congrats Sky, we know you're going to be an amazing big sister!

Happy Friday everyone!
Here at the HoundHouse we have a full house once again. 💜 Which admittedly... isn't too difficult when you start with 5 😆
Our daily 10am peanut butter treat. This morning we had 8 hounds!
Last week we had a day visit from one of our tallest guests, Whip. Whip may also have one of the most impressive roos we've seen too!

Welcome to the Houndhouse!
Welcome! My name is Kimberly Newman and along with my husband Zach, we run the Best Little Houndhouse in Parma. Here we specialize in the particular care of greyhounds. Our home is a single level with nearly no stairs, has many slumber balls and pet beds, kiddie pools in the summer and an easily accessed fully fenced backyard for potty breaks and zoomies. We have a spare bedroom called the Star Wars room for our overnight guests, or we have 2 spare crates available if your hound prefers the comfort of a crate.
I’m a 47 year old professional engineer who works full time from home. I’m also an active volunteer for Greyhound Adoption of Ohio (since June 2018). My husband and I moved to Parma in October 2018 and chose our house partially because it was so well suited for greyhounds. The rooms are uncluttered and spacious and the atmosphere is relaxed and low anxiety. Our hounds all stay in the same room I work in. There are couches and pet beds available and plenty of room for your own hound's beds too. The patio door to the backyard is directly off this room. Hounds are always supervised and are very rarely left home alone.
I welcome meet and greets beforehand to ensure our dogs are a good fit and to ensure I'm the type of sitter you're looking for. We can meet here in our home or at a neutral location. I also understand that there are some situations where a meet and greet isn’t possible and I can definitely work with you if that’s the case. My dogs are very used to visitors at this point so welcoming a new dog without a meet and greet is very possible.
Non-greyhound breeds are also very welcome! However, because of the nature and prey drive of our greyhounds I absolutely cannot consider smaller breeds (generally under 45 pounds). My purpose is to give your dog(s) the best care possible and give you peace of mind knowing that they’re being very well taken care of and not book every dog and just “make it work”. Safety for everyone is just as important as anything else our home has to offer.
If you like our home but aren’t sure if your dog(s) will get along with our 3 greyhounds, we are well suited to keep everyone apart too. We have a whole other living room off the kitchen that’s not pictured. Yes, there are many options here at the Houndhouse!
Occasionally my husband's 8 year old daughter will be staying with us as we have shared custody. She stays with us every other weekend. She is very good and gentle with our hounds and our hounds love her. We understand some hounds are not good with children and if this is your hound we'll ensure they'll be given enough space to make sure everyone's safe.
Thank you very much for taking the time to get to know us and if you have any questions feel free to contact me. I can be flexible with bookings so even if I'm set to unavailable for the times you need I may still be able to work with you. I look forward to hearing from you!
