PET ONLY Barbata Hybrid Hypo Dunner
She was one of my first “upper scale” purchase and my first hybrid, making me keep her as a pet for many years. I love her, but due to her tiny size she cannot be used for breeding. She is an amazing pet and fully of personality, she has a big tongue and always is poking it out at stuff. She has a very unique head (thanks to her barbata lineage) and is extremely handleable. Her small size and calm demeanor are perfect for companionship.
She is 200g and 5 years old.

The Hard Side of Breeding..

Sometimes, despite doing everything you can correctly, things happen. Things like the pairing failing. It happens, and, unfortunately sometimes there’s not much you can do but not repair the animals together. It hurts, you question if there was anything you could have done - and the answer is no, things happen.
Both parents of this animal are very healthy and robust, the pairing just ended up being not as healthy. There is nothing that indicated me that the pairing wouldn’t work out - Eggs were kept at 83.3 and hatched a month earlier than expected, and, out of the 9 eggs i kept 2 babies hatched deformed, 3 babies hatched out healthy, and the remainder drowned in egg. I will be freezing second clutch so that none of this happens again. Pictured below is the worse off of the two deformed babies (the other is missing an eye) he unfortunately had to be humanely euthanized as his mouth is fuzed shut on the one side. Talking with the amazing Tracy of Phantom Dragons - He would have never even made it out of the egg if it weren’t for our super cool temperature regulated incubators. Hopefully this post can serve as some education for upcoming breeders/breeders alike.
To say I cried a lot is an understatement. These guys are all I care about..
