Trainer Tip Tuesday!

Make sure to always check your tack. Checking your tack can help prevent accidents before they happen. Remove and replace frayed nylon straps, dry rotted or cracked leather, broken cables, and anything else that looks loose or broken.

This can help prevent a fall or injury to your horse.

Welcome back to meet the horse monday! Today we are especially excited to welcome Apollo to the farm fam!

Apollo is a six year old Belgian, Arabian, and Paint cross. He joined the program at the end of may and will eventually join our lesson program.

He is such a sweet guy who just wants to snuggle in your bubble. Or find the best patch of grass to show you and of course snag a nibble. Also make sure you dont miss his sophisticated mustache.

Stay tuned to see more of this handsome guy as he grows in our program!

Training tip tuesday,

Pay attention to your own breathing and body language. Before you approach your horse take a moment to take note of how you're feeling. Are you tense? How has your day gone? Are you walking into the barn holding onto something that happened at school or work? Often when we forget to check into our own emotions it boils over into our work with our horses. So take that 30 second moment to have a deep breath and let go of whatever you might be holding onto from earlier that day or week. Just enjoy the present with your horse.

Welcome to meet the horse monday! Today we are featuring Sonny. Sonny joined our program 8 months ago as a lesson and competition horse. He is a ten year old Quarter Horse gelding but we think he has some Arabian hiding in there which makes him a beast on trail. Especially when he engages his “panther walk” and outwalks the thoroughbred!

Sonny has been competing with one of our students and they have come a long way in the last few months. He has also participated in birthday parties and barn days.

Big thanks to his mom for letting us use him in our program!

Our next Barn Day will be August 19th! It's $100 per kid. It will include a riding lesson and lunch! We also will do an educational course relating to agriculture. The day will last from 8am - 3pm.

Proud to introduce our first pony!
Meet Samwise, a 4 year medium grade pony who is looking for a new home.

Sammy has proven to be an absolute beast of a trail pony. He will cross water, climb rocks, is learning his lateral movements. Has a fantastic forward movement on trail. This is a very smart pony who has personality but has never shown an ugly side. Picks up all four feet, loads and trailers well. Good for the farrier.

In the ring he has been working on fine tuning his power steering though he has improved he would still be considered green. Good with his feet, picks up both leads, has been ridden by the more intermediate students for lessons. Has been jumped over small cross rails and shows potential but due to his age we are taking it slow.

This is an incredibly smart pony who will excel with a good riding kid or trainer looking for a pony to finish. Would not recommend to a beginner as he is still young and will need to continue his education.

We had such a successful first barn day yesterday! The kids got a riding lesson and an equine anatomy class. They helped us with all the barn chores and got to paint the horses! It was so much fun for all of us.

We are going to have at least one barn day a month! So stay tuned for those, they will be a variety of themes depending on the ages and experience levels of the participating students.

Huge thank you to the amazing friends and family that helped us move 100 bales yesterday! This adventure would not be possible without the amazing support system we have! We are so grateful for each and every one of you guys! The ponies are super excited about all this hay.
