DSPCA’s Great Irish Dog Walk in partnership with PURINA®
Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) Annual Great Irish Dog Walk, in partnership with PURINA®, will take place on Saturday 26th September 2015 in the DSPCA Campus in Rathfarnham. This year’s event will launch the DSPCA’s new Dog Nature Trail, an approx. 2km enclosed dog walk around the perimeter of the DSPCA Campus with spectacular views over the Dublin Mountains and Dublin Bay and the City. There will be lots of fun activities for adults, kids and dogs alike with bouncy castles, face painting, games, fun merry-go-round, dog agility demonstrations, market stalls, dog grooming demonstrations and lots, lots more.
This will be the 3rd year running the Great Irish dog Walk and this year we decided to base it here at the DSPCA Campus. The New Dog Nature Trail will let people experience the beautiful environs of our Animal Rescue Centre and is open to anyone one, dog owner or not, to come and visit.
Those wishing to participate can register online at www.dspca.ie. Dogs must be on a leash, with rules and regulations applying. The aim of the Great Irish Dog Walk in partnership
with PURINA® PetCare 2015 is to help raise awareness of the suffering of animals and to help the DSPCA raise funding to rescue neglected and ill-treated animals. See http://www.dspca.ie/dog_walk_booking.jsp
We would like to say a huge Thank You to Gordon D'Arcy and the pupils of Rathfarnham Educate Together School for today's photos shoot.

It’s National Chipping Month!
Today, September 1'st 2015 marks the start of National Chipping Month which is a national microchipping campaign led by Dogs Trust!
New laws will make it compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped and all dog owners must have a Certificate of Registration to prove the dogs is theirs.
If you haven’t already microchipped your dog then please speak to your local vet today, many are offering low cost chipping this month.
We will have 157 vets chipping dogs for free with our Dogs Trust chips across the country throughout the month. We are a charity and receive no Government funding but we will be microchipping up to 116 dogs a day this September.
For a list of participating veterinary practices, please click on this link: https://www.dogstrust.ie/whats-happening/events/participating_veterinary_practices_in_national_chipping_month_2015%20(1).pdf
Don't forget to make sure to bring photo ID and a utility bill when you take your dog for microchipping. This is a requirement under the new legislation and dogs can not be chipped without it.

Super Spencer is still waiting!
Spencer is an absolute gent and he's currently waiting for his forever family to come and whisk him away to his happily ever after!
Spencer won't be a demanding chap, he would need an adult only home though as children might be a bit too overwhelming for him. He walks well on his lead and just adores playing with toys! Check him out in this cute little video http://bit.ly/1NLTqqk
If you would like to talk to us about Spencer, pop up this weekend! We're open from 12pm-4pm and we have over 200 fabulous dogs like Spencer just waiting to be adopted.
If you can't adopt, help Spencer out by telling your friends about him! :)
Is it Friday yet?
