Stray Cat TNR One of our goals is to help shelters reduce their intake and euthanasia rate by returning cats to their original outdoor environment to live out their lives.

Our mission is to motivate and empower compassionate caretakers through education and resources as well as equip them with necessary supplies and support to carry out the process of Trap Neuter Return. Located in Forest, Virginia, our Trap-Neuter-Return program acquires help and support of property owners so we may work together in the most efficient way to ensure your outdoor cats live happier, h

ealthier lives through spay and neuter. Our main objective is to promote TNR awareness and educate the community about this process and its benefits. We want you to feel comfortable with the process and we can teach you what you need to know. We believe anyone can TNR and we are here to help you! If you are graciously feeding a couple of strays and would like to have them spayed/neutered, but are overwhelmed with the process, let us help guide and assist you! Call, text or email so we may discuss your specific circumstances to figure out the best possible way to help you and your feline friends.

It’s harsh, but it’s reality.

UPDATE: I just received totals for the last 4 days (today is last day for surgeries). Total of 46 female cats. 15 or 1/3 of those cats were pregnant with 65 feti. So poof...in less than 60 days that cat population would have gone from 15 to 80. Do you hear me now?

😿 WE'RE SCREWED🚨

I know that's neither polite or professional language but those are the words that came out of my mouth yesterday. Actually I "may" have used some stronger words.

Yesterday at a spay/neuter clinic here in E TN, 6 female community cats were scheduled for spay. Of those, four were pregnant. Those four were carrying a total of 20 feti. Think about those numbers. If those feti hadn't been humanely euthanized, that four cat population would have increased by 5 times.

Please friends. Speuter your pets. Help a neighbor get their pet speutered. Help a community cat get speutered. "But aw....kittens are so cute." Look at the numbers. We are about to be drowning in cute kittens. If you are too late to fix 'em l, we'll need ya to foster 'em. If you don't, more will die in the streets. It will take everyone helping to climb out of this animal welfare crisis in our community.

Don’t just rescue kittens and forget about mama cat! If you do, you’ll be back in the same situation in a matter of months. If you happen to find kittens and you are compassionate and lucky enough to rescue them, please make an attempt to help the mother cat too. They all need us to help stop the never-ending reproduction cycle. ❤️‍🩹

I will also add to not feed on hard surfaces like sidewalks, pavement, bricks, etc. It can damage their teeth and be very painful. 😭

Do you feed outdoor cats? Life on the streets can be hard and you can be a helper by keeping these tips in mind 🐱
1) Do not leave out huge piles of food that could attract rodents, wildlife or irritate neighbors who might already be unhappy about the presence of outdoor cats. It is important to feed only as much as the cats can eat in a 20-30 minute period and then to pick up any leftovers! Measuring out food helps (most cats eat a total of 1/2c of kibble per day).
2) Feed only in daylight hours. This is an important safety issue because interactions with wild animals can be deadly for the outdoor cats in your colony. There are too many reasons to list why it is not ok to intentionally feed wildlife.
3) If you feed outdoor cats, it is imperative that you are working towards having them spayed/neutered. Well-fed cats give birth to larger litters of kittens, which contribute to a serious pet overpopulation crisis. There are too many homeless cats. An internet search is a good way to find spay/neuter clinics near you. Yes, you may have to call around, partner with your friends, family and neighbors to make it happen or even drive out of the area to find an affordable resource, but it's worth your efforts. One by one, every cat you spay makes a difference.
🐾
Thank you for caring enough to use best practices to ensure the cats you look after are as safe and healthy as possible!

We originally picked up this kitty with TNR in mind. 🤔 However, while holding him for an appointment, we got a good look at how matted he was and also noticed some drooling while he was trying to eat. 👅 The Lynchburg Humane Society agreed to intake the sweet fellow and provide him with the medical care he needed. 🙌🏼

I had to take Stevie in for a medical appointment this afternoon, so I checked in on our handsome fellow while I was there. 👀 No need to worry about him! Now “Danzig”, he’s already made himself at home at the Center and flirts with all the staff as they pass by. 😻 He already got a shave to help with all that yucky matted fur and he’s also on some antibiotics and awaiting a dental.

What a cute little beefcake. 🖤

Scheduling issues, inclement weather and sickness means no official appointments for us until March.

We were very lucky to sneak in 2 males this week before the snow hit. One male was lucky enough to not be injured yet, and neutering will help him to stay that way! The other guy wasn’t as lucky as the Clinic found that he had a broken leg that had healed with no treatment. We know that neutering will decrease his roaming and keep him safer.

Thank you to Kirsten and Liz for helping us out this week!

Mr. Messy Fur is in luck… well kind of.

While staying with us the past couple of days, we noticed some drooling which could be connected to some mouth problems. This could also be connected to his matted fur if he had stopped grooming due to mouth pain. 😢

While I’m sad to think he is currently in pain, the good news is, the Lynchburg Humane Society agreed to intake him to provide some immediate medical support.

We are super thankful he is in such good hands! 👏🏻

I sure would appreciate if people SHARED my original content instead of copying and pasting my text and downloading my graphic to upload as their own post. The share button was created for a reason - to make this easier for people.

I'll be the first to admit, I love seeing my content on other pages. I humbled by the fact they like them enough to want to share! I love that people are spreading the messages and getting the word out about TNR! 😻 And that is the most important part.

If you don't fully understand how pages and information grow on Facebook, this might just sound like a complaint. But when people spend hours created something, they usually want to be able to share more of their content with the people who like it! But when pages post it as their own, it blocks the original creator from connecting with those people. A tag, though nice, doesn't allow this either.

There is a right and polite way to share information and there is a wrong way. It's simple Facebook etiquette and not everyone knows about it, so I thought this post would be important for all who take their time to create original content for their followers and those who are kind enough to share information!

Throughout last year, we worked together with Charity to spay and neuter all the cats ✅ at her location and remove the kittens. She takes good care of all these kitties to make sure they have full bellies and are monitored.

When a friendly new face showed up 😻, Charity took notice. He came trotting through the woods from a neighboring trailer park just like all the others for feeding times. Only the other cats didn’t like him and he would get smacked around 😬 a little by the cohesive group.

Charity also noticed he was not neutered and reached out to us for assistance. She wanted to get him inside before the winter weather ❄️ hit if at all possible. We agreed to pick him up yesterday, but sadly, he didn’t show up for her when he was supposed to. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Finally around 8PM we received a message that he was there! We headed out. 🚗 Charity was feeding him in the back of her car to keep him contained until we got there. When she went to get him, he made the great escape as all cats do! Lol. He was a little tough to see in the dark since he was black, but no worries, I was able to located and get him secured in a carrier. Phew!

He is doing well and awaiting an open neuter appointment, which will be even more challenging with the winter weather causing closures. But we are here for him until that time! 🖤

The more you know from Stray Cat Project!

Kittens having kittens. We see it way too often. Spay your cat(s)!

Aside from the obvious benefit of population control, spaying a cat reduces her risk of mammary (breast) cancer by 25%, makes her less prone to urinary tract infections and prevents uterine cancers. It also prevents pyometra, a deadly infection of the uterus.

Cats are sexually mature by 4 MONTHS of age! ACT FAST before your kitten has kittens! Cats can also get pregnant while they are still nursing a litter. A cat can have multiple litters per year; there is no time to waste!

Constant reproduction wreaks havoc on a queen's body; it robs her body of nutrition and physically exhausts her. Sometimes, her body is not able to support the kittens and they're either born deformed, are stillborn or naturally aborted. Sometimes the queen dies from complications of the pregnancy or from multiple pregnancies.

A spayed cat is a healthier, happier cat. Please spay your cat before 4 months of age.
