Pirate
Yesterday, we were able to get this little one, named Pirate, into the vet. This is a video taken right before heading to the vet. As you can see they are quite lethargic and one eye is completely shut. The vet was able to open the eye and confirm there is a healthy eye under there! Pirate will be on antibiotic eye drops and has a recheck in 10 days. We are very hopeful as Pirate is continuing to eat as much as they can and has healthy bowel movements!
Just some cuties for your feed 😊
Dexter The Leopard Gecko
Unfortunately, over the past few days Dexter has been declining. Though he is still accepting his syringe feedings, his weight has been decreasing and he has been acting more lethargic than usual.
We will be taking him to get more testing done this week. At this point, blood work, x-rays, and other specific tests will most likely need run, along with possible hospitalization, which will result in hundreds of dollars worth of vet bills.
We are optimistic that he can pull through as we have seen improvement over his time with us ❤️
If you are able to make even a $5 donation towards his care, it would be so, so appreciated. He is such a sweet boy and truly deserves every chance we can give him.

Everyone meet Jane, the young Bearded Dragon ❤️😊
She is such a sweety with a strong passion for food. Jane was taken in from a family that could no longer care for her. She was kept on red sand so her feet aren’t typically this red, but she should shed it off soon! We are excited to have her and can’t wait to find her a forever home!

Our little guy’s name will be DEXTER 😊🦎
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to put their name suggestion into the raffle ❤️ Stay tuned for tomorrow’s update on his veterinary exam!
Yoshi is settling in well here at Tippecanoe Exotic Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. He is opening up to us and even eating out of our hands! ❤️
Chinese Water Dragons are beautiful reptiles that are native to China and Southeast Asia. Though they can be skittish little guys, once they bond with humans, they are very calm and love hanging out. They grow to be 2-3 feet long, depending on gender. And of course, with a name like “water dragon”, you guessed it, they LOVE water and can even hold their breath for up to 25 minutes while swimming!
Chinese Water Dragons are not for beginners, as they require quite a bit of time and effort in order to provide the proper husbandry needs. Because they grow to be quite large, their enclosure must reflect that. Enclosures should be a MINIMUM of 4 feet long, 3 feet deep, and 4 feet tall, however, bigger is always better! As they are semi-arboreal, meaning they spend a decent amount of time off of the ground, their enclosure should contain various perches, branches, and ledges for them to have access to different levels. Of course, foliage is a great addition to provide them with cover and security. Being from Southeast Asia, they need higher temperatures and humidity. A good basking area will reach 100 degrees, and an ambient temperature of 80-85 on the warm side dropping to 72-80 on the cool side of the enclosure is needed. UVB light is also a requirement, as it helps them properly digest calcium to maintain proper bone density and without they can become very ill. Humidity levels should be kept at a minimum of 70%, with a higher spike of 80%-90% a few times throughout the day. Humidity levels can be obtained by misting the enclosure a few times throughout the day or with a humidifier. A good way to keep humidity levels up is to use a reptile soil, such as EcoEarth, along with sphagnum moss as a substrate for the enclosure. Being water dragons, they also need a fresh supply of water. A large water dish that allows for the dragon to

We are happy to announce that Nessie is going to be moving out of her quarantine tank and into a bigger, better enclosure for the remainder of her stay with us! She will be returning to the vet next week for another exam and round of medication, and we are hoping for the best! We are still working on slow and steady weight gain and fighting to get rid of her parasites, but she is showing great signs and making amazing progress ❤️
Also, stay tuned for an exciting announcement tomorrow evening and thank you for your support!
