These two incredible cats have been with us for several months now after being rescued from some of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen. Both came from a backyard breeder who discarded them when they were no longer "useful." How they survived such horrific neglect is a miracle in itself.
Initially, we feared the worst, suspecting Beatrice had lymphoma and Ethel had polycystic kidney disease. Extensive testing, however, revealed they both suffer from inflammatory bowel disease and deep-rooted infections caused by years of abuse. Beatrice also has severely swollen lymph nodes that, while manageable, will never fully return to normal.
So far, their care has cost the rescue nearly £7,000, and yes, we’ve received criticism for investing so much. But we made a promise: to give Beatrice and Ethel the chance at a life they never had. We’ve been told their journey will take another 8–10 months of intense and costly treatment, tackling their infections and infestations step by step. Because of the complexity of their care, Beatrice and Ethel will remain with us as permanent residents of Flori’s Friends Rescue.
You can help Beatrice and Ethel on their road to recovery by donating or purchasing items from our Amazon Wishlist (linked in our bio).
