What is a microgreen? This is a question I am always asked. This is a great question by the way and I never get tired of explaining what it is Tennessee Pure Growers is all about. I figured I would share with everyone the definition of a microgreen so here it is. mi·cro·greens

noun

plural noun: microgreens; noun: microgreen; plural noun: micro-greens; noun: micro-green

the shoots of salad vegetables such as arugula, Swiss chard, mustard, beetroot, etc., picked just after the first leaves have developed. These leaves are known as the cotyledons. Microgreens are used as a nutrition supplement, a visual enhancement, and a flavor and texture enhancement. Microgreens can add sweetness and spiciness to foods. Microgreens are also highly nutritious and can have have a nutritional value of up to 40x higher than its mature counterparts. They are known as superfoods. Drink water from the spring where horses drink. The horse will never drink bad water. Lay your bed where the cat sleeps. Eat the fruit that has been touched by a worm. As 2020 draws to a end we at Tennessee Pure Growers would like to say thank you to everyone that supported us this year. We as many other small businesses really felt the struggles this year, from seed stock shortages and seasoning containers being sold out EVERYWHERE and supply prices going up it was definitely a challenge.
