Hello all,

I hope you're having a great weekend and staying warm.

With consideration to current health concerns and uncertainty in the food service industry - we will not be accepting any new orders for MicroGreens nor will we be offering our MicroGreens CSA until further notice.

I am in the process creating guides and tutorials to help inspire and teach those of you who may be interested in growing your own MicroGreens at home, which will be available on our website soon. (link in comments)

All of the MicroGreens that we grow during the creation of these guides will be donated to a local food bank or charity.

Early 2021 we look to move into a much larger facility, which will allow us to amp up our MicroGreens production as well as add a variety of other produce to the mix.

Some things we plan on growing are;

•Tomatoes
•Culinary Herbs
•and much more

December 2020 MicroGreens CSA — Smathers MicroFarms

December 2020 MicroGreens CSA is now available or sign-up and purchase on our website.

All share sizes are 20% off until Halloween.

MicroGreens CSA for November 2020 CSA Members will enjoy a delivery every Sunday in the month of November 2020 of freshly harvested MicroGreens. December’s share will include MicroGreens such as Green Wave Mustard, Purple Stem Radish, and Sugar-Pea. Micro - 4 oz. per delivery ( 16oz. total) F

Our December 2020 MicroGreens CSA will be available for early sign-ups this Sunday on our website.

Anybody who signs up between Sunday (10/25/2020) and Halloween (10/31/2020) will receive 20% off the cost of your share.

You will also be automatically entered to win three months of our MicroGreens CSA program for you and a friend, absolutely free.

We have made and are implementing a couple changes to our delivery route and schedule.

1. Currently we deliver on Wednesdays. Effective 8/11/2020 we will be offering delivery on Thursdays and Sundays. For members with a current CSA, you will have the option to continue receiving deliveries on Wednesday for all remaining scheduled deliveries.

2. We have greatly increased our service area and now offer delivery to most of Portland and surrounding communities.

3. You can now purchase MicroGreens individually via our website.

About Us

Smathers MicroFarms is currently ran and operated by Daniel Smathers and his daughter. In May of 2020, Daniel was laid off from his job in manufacturing as a Press Brake Operator and a week later tore his MCL rendering him unable to return to work. During this time Daniel found a hobby in gardening that quickly turned into a passion for agriculture. After a DIY project building a hydroponic system to grow culinary herbs and seeing a lot of success, Daniel was quickly interested in the concept of indoor farming and Smathers MicroFarms was born.

As our name suggests, we are a “micro” indoor farming start-up serving the Portland area with locally grown, high quality, fresh MicroGreens year round. In an effort to reduce waste and minimize our carbon footprint, we currently grow the majority of our crops to order using a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) inspired business model. When you sign up for a membership with us, you will receive a weekly delivery to your home or office of our MicroGreens.

With a primary focus on innovation, conservation, and education we hope to grow as a vital part of the Portland community, enriching the lives of those around us and provide educational content, locally grown food, and opportunity for all. We’d love to hear from you soon!
