Amaranth leaves are extremely nutritious and tasty, and are eaten in many parts of the world but the United States seems to forget about them. Very high in vitamins, phytonutrients, it can be eaten raw or cooked just like you would eat spinach, like stirred into scrambled eggs! We will have samples available!
Microgreens are the tiny plants of different vegetables eaten whole, and in this tiny stage they have a lot of nutrients in a small package! Use them to garnish your meals or add to smoothies for an extra bioavailable nutrient boost. We sell our microgreens on a soilless h**p mat, so they stay alive and with maximum nutrients right until the moment you eat them.
You can't even pre-order to make sure you reserve yours https://www.blueridgepepperpatch.com/pages/localorder
Have you ever had amaranth leaves? This tasty, leafy green is extremely nutritious and is more common in other parts of the world's cuisines, but is very underutilized in the US. It has a flavor similar to green beans, but with way more vitamins, and even protein! Use it like spinach, either raw or cooked. You can pick some up from us at two locations this weekend, Saturday at the The Family Bee's-ness LLC on-farm market from nine to noon, and Sunday at the wake forest, local food collaborative pick up from 4 to 5. We also have wild blackberries, the last of the spring onions, as well as sweet potato slips, and more!
Need a last minute gift for dad? Get him what he really wants, the gift of spicy! Send a Blue Ridge Pepper Patch gift card, and let him choose from spicy condiments or wait until late summer to get fresh peppers! Gift cards can also be used for local-pickup produce!

We had to change our schedule around, but you can still find our produce at The Family Bee's-ness LLC market tomorrow from 9:00 to 12:00! The last of the spring onions and green garlic, but the first of the wild blackberries and summer squash! Microgreens and Rooted sweet potato slips also available!
Our daikon radish microgreens over top of handmade bagels from Sourdough Delites makes an awesome a little lunch!
It's awesome when individuals decide to start supporting small farms by shopping directly from farmers, but what they don't realize is that they are changing their own lives for the better. The quality of the products is often better with fewer chemicals and additives, and the local area retains more economic value rather than money working its way to CEOs and shareholders. Even reducing your time spent in grocery stores can elevate your emotional and mental health: you are exchanging fluorescent lights and optimized advertising designed to transfer your emotional energy to store profit, for time spent outdoors interacting with the actual people who grow and make your food (which can often boost your mental health).
It's time! The first of the wild blackberries are in! Wasn't sure if I would have enough for the drop at the Wake Forest local food collaborative today, but I sure do! If you haven't checked out the drop yet, come see us outside of Vitality chiropractic in Wake Forest from 4:00 to 5:00!
Well, there it is, my hundredth dozen eggs from our first flock of chickens! One of the hens laid a honker with double yolk to celebrate!

WE WANT YOUR EGG CARTONS AND MASON JARS! As we continue selling eggs and flower bouquets, we'll need more supplies. Earn 25 cents for each carton and 75 cents for each quart-size mason jar toward any purchase!
Last week for Chickweed - this is a cool season wild edible, and warm weather signals it to die off. Try it now, or wait until winter!
Last week for a while for collards/cabbage/etc.. fall planted brassicas are ending, and we won't have more until spring-planted ones are yielding (roughly May)
BUT
Salad mix is back! - in wild form! A flavorful mix of wild lettuce, dandelion greens, sheep's sorrel, bitter dock and arugula! All you need is some simple dressing and some croutons!
Garlic won't be ready for a few more months, but snag some garlic leaves! yes, the tops of the plant are edible too, and harvestable while the bulb is still growing. Great for salads when you want a punch of flavor, or in cooked dishes to replace bulb garlic.
Some plant seedlings are ready! Get onions and edible flowers; (pepper and other plants ready soon!)
And of course, edible flowers, eggs, wild onions, flower bouquets are available!
My "bouquet" of collard flowers! THEY'RE EDIBLE!! When cabbage, collard greens, kale, all of that, starts to bolt and set flowers, just eat them! After all, broccoli is the flower of that plant group and we eat it on purpose. In my opinion, collard flowers are SUPER tasty, raw or cooked! Conventional agriculture and the national food system waste so much of the plant that can otherwise be eaten, simply because it doesn't have long storage times on the shelf or grocery fridge. Normalize eating the "unusual parts"!
Place your orders for convenient pickup The Family Bee's-ness LLC this Saturday from 9:00 to noon! We have more cabbages back in stock, as well as arugula flowers! The flowers of the plant have a slightly milder flavor than the leaves, and make a very pretty garnish for any meal! Cut flowers are also available!

New product alert! LIVING MICROGREENS! Impress everyone at the Labor day grill-out with burgers topped with 'fancy' microgreens! Microgreens carry a lot of nutrients in a small package, but the nutrients degrade fairly quickly after harvesting. Instead of cutting and packaging, we are growing microgreens on a soil-less hemp fiber mat, so your microgreens stay living and super fresh right up to the moment you add them to your food! Right now we have mixed Brassicas microgreens available, a great all-purpose microgreen, and are currently expanding our seed library to offer more flavors! Catch us tomorrow, Sept 1 at Blackbird Brewery from 5:30-8:30, also Saturday the 2nd at The Family Bee's-ness LLC market from 9-noon!
The Banana Melon - I will have one of these available for delivery tomorrow! Of all the heirloom varieties we grew for the first time this year, the banana melon has far exceeded my expectations! it's in the cantaloupe group, but with superior flavor. It's everything you want a cantaloupe to be, but can never seem to get. It will make up for every bland cantaloupe you've ever had! https://www.blueridgepepperpatch.com/products/melons-coming-soon
