November is National Pet Diabetes Month, and it’s the perfect time to pay attention to your furry friends! Here are some signs of diabetes in dogs and cats that you shouldn’t ignore:

🐶 For Dogs:
Increased thirst and urination
Unexplained weight loss
Increased appetite but still losing weight
Lethargy or decreased activity

🐱 For Cats:
Increased thirst and urination
Changes in appetite—either increased or decreased
Unexplained weight loss
Lethargy and less playfulness

Hello my friends,
We have exciting news here at Healing Hands! The time has come to grow our team! We're looking for a Veterinary Assistant or CVT with at least 1 year of experience. Our hours are 9am-5pm, M-F with no weekend or evening requirements. The pay range is $19.00-$25.00 per hour dependent on experience. Benefits include a generous personal pet discount, PTO, paid holidays and a $250 stipend to purchase health, vision, dental and short term disability insurance. We are a locally owned business with no corporate overlords dictating prices, siphoning profits out of state, or driving staff to work harder with less resources.
We're looking for someone with a good sense of humor and loves helping people take good care of their pets. We have all the equipment to practice top quality care and longer appointment times to make sure we use it well. The work flow is steady and only occasionally chaotic. We all genuinely enjoy each-others company but do not ascribe to the toxic "work family" culture. The boss lady is committed to creating a psychological safe work environment and also has DoorDash ready to delivery Starbucks at a moments notice because a caffeinated staff is a happy staff. Pumpkin isn’t just a fall favorite in your coffee—it’s a healthy treat for your pet too! 🐶 This fiber-packed snack supports digestion and is loaded with vitamins A and C to boost their immune system.

For a healthy serving, try these amounts:

Extra-small (2-20 lbs): 2-3 teaspoons
Small (21-30 lbs): 1-2 tablespoons
Medium (31-50 lbs): 2-3 tablespoons
Large (51-90 lbs): 4-5 tablespoons Extra-large dogs (91+ lbs): ¼ cup

Start with a smaller amount and work your way up to these serving sizes! Be sure to use plain, canned pumpkin—no sugary and spicy pie filling. Does your pet love pumpkin?

Whenever an owner opts for cremation with ashes returned, I’m the person who places the ashes in the wooden urn and snuggles the urn into a bed of crinkle paper before returning it to the owner. I find the work soothing and helps me stay balanced. Of course it also helps when Walter, my rescue kitten, helps out too.
