Rest In Peace beautiful Aslan

Dearest Azzie fly free beautiful angel. Your time here with us has been so beautiful and you will be missed by your friends, especially your half brother Sox and I.
In your short 4 years of life you experienced more trauma…and more kindness than many horses.
You kept your spirit and body pure and free and were courageous, friendly, fair and a stoic horse.
You were wary of humans, and rightly through. Through your strong spirit and distrust of humans you taught me so much and I know that you spirit will be with The Kind Farm as we continue to make the world a better place for horses.

Azzie wad diagnosed with a broken stifle - a bone even we can not rehabilitate. He was laid to rest and enjoyed his favourite foods and the company of his herd as we said farewell to this courageous and noble soul yesterday.

Even though these photos may be unpleasant to see (Azzy is still alive in these pictures), I am sharing to show the kinship of horses.

Horses have feelings too (so do other animals) and in recognising and knowing this it is my greatest intention to make the world a better place for horses.

The pictures of Aslan leaning on Sox were shared by Sim who had volunteered with us. Since the very beginning, Aslan and Sox were a support to each other as they arrived as young unhandled colts, rescued from slaughter.

With the support of our social media family - we rescued Aslan and Sox from a horrible death.

Because Aslan was so timid and could not be ridden, we never once had any interest in him being adopted.

Aslan lived in a space of care, respect and unconditional love.

He grew from an emaciated young horse in to a strong horse who was a fair and calm leader of his herd.

I am still accepting his sudden passing…yesterday it felt like e bad dream I hoped to awaken from. Today I know it is real and through the tears it’s another day of loving and caring for these beautiful horses until they find their perfect humans.

A huge thanks to everyone who helped Azzy yesterday.

Please keep the horses in your prayers as they just to life without their beautiful friend, mate and brother.

We love you Azzy - may your spirit soar and grace us with your presence and guidance.

The sun is shining (at least a bit) and the horses are welcoming the care to their skin and eyes. Thanks to your skin donations we have been able to order the best creme that helps with all sorts of conditions including rain scald and mud fever.
With 20 horses needing some TLC we are eagerly awaiting 5KGs of this soothing creme. The horses love this creme being applied - even timid horses will stand for this to be applied - even to their faces and ears.
Within days skin begins to heal and new hair regrows. Thanks for your support and amazing natural products.
Here’s Arthur enjoying some of this soothing creme that will work wonders on his skin.
I rarely mention products on our social media - only if we have consistently incredible results will I do this.

Stranded for days in the flooding rain, Spirit and his friends were shivering, miserable, eyes sore from the intense winds and fur missing from the relentless rain. Cyclone Alfred has taken its toll on the beautiful horses.
They were moved away from trees with no rugs to give them the best chance to survive Cyclone Alfred, however they became flooded in, leaving them without shelter for days.

The high winds and trees falling in the distance were terrifying to the horses. Torrents of water rushing through paddocks has made the ground slippery and some paddocks unsafe.

The horses are standing in putrid mud. For horses in hoof rehab like River and Sophia this is especially challenging. They urgently need clean gravel in shelters and paddocks to replace what was washed away.

With your help the horses can get everything they need to recover including health care, special supplements and loads of gravel to get them out of the muddy puddles.

It’s been a nerve wracking time. We had a week of preparation - planning the best locations for all horses. The horses were all fed extra food for that week to help them if they were stranded or food supply was cut.

I was cut off from 12 of the horses for days - reaching them only after wading through a creek as waters subsided and I was able to wade through a creek to a vehicle we had prepared loaded with food.

Even today as I write to you, feed deliveries can not reach our farm and the power has been off for almost a week. Phone and internet is only possible by wading through the creek and driving 10kms.

Thanks .byronbay for your paddocks (and driveway) for keeping horses on high ground as the rains begin. Im already flooded in With Magic, Merlin, Zara, the 3 welshies, River and Sophia. Teddy and Peppermint are being fed by a local family close to their paddock and currently Sox, Spirit, Sunny, Aslan, Tara, Prince Caspian, , ThorArthur and Faith are on high ground with no one to reach them until waters subside. There’s still a tropical storm/cyclone and days of rain forecast.

Zara and the welsh pony family staying dry. The ponies have been settling in and enjoying rolling in the clay. I've been able to feed everyone today and set up even better paddock options to keep everyone safe in the forecast cyclone and flooding rains.
Because of strong winds I have moved horses away from trees meaning some of the younger and more robust horses no longer have access to shelters from rain.
It's not looking like an easy time ahead however we are prepared as much as possible.

Like many others we are preparing for a cyclone and flooding. Please keep the horses in your prayers and best wishes over the next few days.
We have the horses in the safest paddocks, settling in to new herds whilst the ground is dry.

All of these horses were saved from neglect, the racing industry or found unwanted at auctions, or awaiting a brutal slaughter.
Today they’re living their best life awaiting their loving forever homes.
The first picture is Sunny, with Spirit behind him. The other picture is the pony paddock with Sox, Aslan, Arthur, Deidra, Braan, Phoenix and Prince Caspian.

The sweetness and perfection of this wondrous pony. I am delighted to share that Deidra, Phoenix and Braan have found a loving forever home.
They will be with us for a little longer and thankfully their new loving home is close enough that Deidra can continue to receive care from the same acupuncturist - the one and only Jason Proctor, and the same gentle hoof trimmer with decades of experience.
We are so grateful to this family for opening their hearts and homes to this family of 3 ponies.

Yesterday a wonderful Mother and Daughter duo came to visit to look at horses to adopt. I had visited their property to meet them a couple of weeks ago. Thor decided they may just be his new humans and walked right up for a pat. Arthur was also interested to meet these lovely people. We are happy to say that Thor and Arthur will be travelling out west in to beautiful horse country shortly to begin a new chapter in their lives. We are grateful to everyone willing to open their heart and home to a rescued horse. I will keep you posted as we prepare Thor and Arthur for their new home. Here’s Arthur today with equine dentist and wonderful horseman - Matthew Munce. Matthew not only cares for the horses’s teeth, he also gives them confidence throughout the session.
Letting the horses be surrounded by their friends, in their familiar paddocks is a big help. Usually the most confident horses go first, so the others can watch on and see that all is safe and well.

These 7 horses and ponies are all sharing the same paddock. It was adorable to see their curious and innocent eyes watching my every move yesterday…and to see them grouped with each other. Every horse, just like each human, is a unique individual. They all have their friends within the herd and those they do not vibe with.
Aslan (in the centre of the larger horses) is the overall leader of this herd, and Prince Caspian (the brown and white pony) is the leader of the ponies.
Th most social horses are Braan - the younger pony and Aslan. They have multiple friends and play and groom a lot of different horses.
Sox iis only friends with Aslan and Phoenix and Deidra do not interact with the herd as much.
Overall they are very harmonious - even feed time is quite a relaxed event.

A huge thank you to Shardae, whose diligent and loving care of the horses over the holiday period, saved River's life.
On an extremely hot day, RIver found himself in excruciating pain with an abscess and had lay down in the sun and over-heated. He could barely move.
Shardae kept River cool whilst help arrived and cared for him so carefully and lovingly until he started to improve. Cooling him down, carting water across the paddocks to him every few hours as he could not walk to his drinking trough.
River is now walking around happily thanks to Shardae and the expertise of Jason Proctor.
For 3 years now Shardae has helped care for the horses - sometimes with help, sometimes all by herself...allowing me to take a short holiday with family as I care for the horses almost every day of the year.
Her way with the horses is gentle and loving and insightful.
This year Shardae and her partner drove for days to come and help.
This photo was a couple of years ago when River first met Shardae and they had a special bond.
A huge thank you to Shardae and Izzy for keeping the horses safe and cared for this year...and for being there for River in his time of need.
Another celebration of kindness and the power of kindness to change the world. Thank you Shardae, Jason and to everyone who donates to make the care of horses possible.

A wonderful day for this adorable family of 3. Check ups, acupuncture and a little hoof tidy. Hooves are good, bodies are feeling good and in balance… and spirits are soaring.
Phoenix is bright eyed and his neck and eyes are much more comfortable. His gorgeous face and body are full of life for this gentle horse in his senior years.
Buddy was a little out of balance and will benefit enormously from his acupuncture treatment.
Echo is greatly improved and her hooves have made an incredible rehabilitation thanks to the body fork of Jason Proctor and hoof expertise by Wayne Marcantelli.
Buddy is now enjoying some gentle consent based learning “training” and these gorgeous trio shall await their perfect adoption home.

Help Merlin 💛 and his friends tell us what they need. We have been recommended a very good animal communicator and she has kindly offered us a charity rate of $37/horse for insight into their emotional wellbeing, past trauma and everyday comfort and needs.

I am always observing the horses for their emotional and physical wellbeing. Having insight can really help a horse heal and be happier.

I realise that not everyone believes in Animal Communication and am asking if anyone would like to sponsor Merlin and any of the other horses for a reading.

Please comment of message me to help.

For anyone interested in how animal communication can benefit animals, here is a video you may enjoy https://youtu.be/G6r7q9_akX4?si=07j3WDUZw13hdgJ7
