The kids all have handled this yet another move, wonderfully as always. Need to do some major water changes but they’re going to have to get used to campsite water instead of fancy hotel water 😂 luckily I have some great hardy fish and I have no qualms that they will adapt just fine. Everyone’s outside for some big eating and sunlight time 🐠 so far they to, are loving camp life. Some of these older fish have been moved 13 times in less than a year, 13 different water sources, over 50 hours packed total, and on crazy feed schedules.

“Why is that water so dirty!?”

Tannins are an essential part of the water and health for bettas, cichlids, and guppies. Tannins (brown / Black water)are leached from natural matter decaying in the water such as leaves and wood. It lowers the acidity in water as well as acts as a natural anti bacterial property. Fish benefit from tannins in the water with an improved immune system, healing response, and calmer demeanor for those with anxiety. It naturally helps promote fin healing and growth as well as deterring fin nipping or stress induced behaviors.

Methylene blue (blue water) is effective against fungal infections of fish. The drug may be used as an alternative to Malachite Green for the control of fungus as it is easier on the fishes system. It is commonly used as an overall preventative, helps fight ammonia build up - especially used in transportation of fish, as well as when raising eggs without a parent available. In sensitive fish it is used regularly to keep them healthy and happy. It is recommended to wear gloves when handling or to use a dropper as it stains, it will also kill plants so it’s not advised to use in anything except a bare tank or jar situation.

Mixed = green water
