Introducing one of our new intakes, Maurice! (Fka Lucas)This sweet guy is 12-13 years old, FIV+ and has no teeth. You can tell he has been through it, including a puncture wound straight through his untipped ear (you can see right through it). Luckily he had an amazing caretaker who got him fixed up and wanted to get him into a rescue.Unfortunately we know the rescue opportunities for FIV+ kitties are slim, so when Fergus Peaches got adopted, we knew we were his shot.Maurice is very scared, and very reserved, but he lets us pet him and I was able to put him in my lap and give him some love. Hopefully he starts eating soon and realizes we aren’t too bad. 💜

All the kittens are 5-6ish weeks old and in the meat milk/weaning process. It’s heckin messy over here and we are going through a ton of food between 8 younger kittens and 3 six month olds! We have three babies with mom that will start weaning in a few weeks as well. New friend!

We have a new special little friend! This little guy was on the transfer list at the municipal shelter and I couldn’t say no! He is very small (about 3lbs at 6 months old) and either has anophthalmia (no eyes) or mircophthalmia (very small eyes), and came in with a pretty rough eye infection. He’s looking pretty good now but may need future surgeries if he gets repeated infection. We see the vet Sunday to make a plan! As you can see, he is SUCH a love bug. Instantly biscuiting and purring once you pick him up. We will need funds for him as well as still needing to raise money for Quigley’s cardio visit Monday! Chili update!

Chili girl isn’t the happiest right now but her little leg is all fixed!! She has a two week incision follow up and x-rays in 8 weeks to make sure everything looks good. She will be on strict crate rest until that 8 weeks is up and her foster moms have an amazing private suite all set up for her with a white noise machine so she can stay nice and relaxed! Her grand total for her pre-op work up yesterday and her surgery today was $4381.40 and y’all raised $4373! We were able to pay her medical IN FULL! We will still need to fundraise for her post op care but we are in good shape. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of all of our hearts here at SHCR, and of course Chili’s!

Chili is one of the kitties from the Tonopah rescue, she’s come so far in terms of socialization, but now she injured her shoulder! We fear it may be dislocated and need to raise at least $400 for her vet visit tomorrow (for X-rays and meds conservatively). Introducing Pikurusu! 🥒 We had a donor request we name our next intake Pickle, so here is Pikurusu, or pickle in Japanese! She was found, by a colony caretaker we help, in rough shape. She is quite wobbly and definitely has something upper respiratory going on. Based on her tremors I’m hoping/thinking she just has Cerebellar Hypoplasia which is non progressive and she’d be just fine, but we need to rule out a few other things to be sure. So she’s seeing Dr. V tomorrow from some possible meds for her URI and what he thinks about her movement. Of course this is more of a financial burden that we weren’t quite ready for BUT we still have an amazing ongoing donor match and we’ve raised $963 of $2500. Hugo is looking for his forever family! Hugo is an extremely loving and chatty 2ish year old boy who just wants to be around his person. Hugo is the PERFECT starter cat for someone who wants a best friend. He is FIV+ (no big deal!) and just a joy to be around. He loves being pet and especially having churu treats (he will help you hold the tube!). He is not fond of other pets.He has some dental work scheduled early September so he needs to stay in Las Vegas or after September he is open to adoption within driving distance (6ish hour radius).

Colby is doing great post seizure. Here she was making biscuits at the vets office while waiting for her lab work. She is the SWEETEST and most affectionate cat and she deserves the world and thanks to all the donations we will hopefully be able to figure out why she has the seizure.
