Daisy update
Well, it’s been a year since Daisy came into our lives and a lot has changed, mostly for the better. She came to us out of surgery on her front legs that had been broken between the knee and shoulder. Our doctor said that she jumped from something high so it may have been a truck of some kind. She had already had a litter or more of puppies as well. She would hardly stand up and walk and had to be dragged most of the time. Scared to go out of doors unless they were opened wide, and nothing was in the entry. She just didn’t know how to be a dog. She just laid in front of the couch and cowered at any noise, especially thunderstorms. We have just figured out that some of the problem was that Daisy didn’t know her own name. She was afraid of everything and hid when she could. Unfortunately, she liked to hide under the patio where we were not able to get to her without taking up the deck boards! After the second time the whole thing got blocked off. In the meantime, she got lots of loving from us and from Myah. I believe that Myah brought Daisy out of her shell and is teaching her how to be the best, silliest dog ever. She loves to do things with her chin like lay it on the table and look at you with the puppy eyes. DNA testing discovered that she is 100% golden retriever. I took her to doggie school for beginners in August and she began to learn the commands and her name. She loved to hide amongst the dog beds, and we had to learn to avoid them. She graduated and we work on all her commands often as she is lazy and stubborn. We will move on to Intermediate class soon. So now we go for hikes, and she comes with us when we know that we are going to a pet friendly place. She is the best walker ever! She and Myah now play together, and she will run around outside. Daisy is still lazy but will now get on the bed with us and plays with Myah on the couch constantly. She is becoming the most loving dog that we’ve ever had and aside from chewing things is GREAT!! Can’t wait to see what she does next year!
