As Spring is in the air and the sun has finally reappeared I thought I would share some photos of all of some of the beautiful chinchunnels my son has made!

Firstly thank you to all of our wonderful customers. My son and I love seeing his tunnels being played in and loved by your gorgeous chinchillas ❤

For those of you who have recently found our page all of our wonderful tunnels are made by my autistic 13 year old son. He has always loved animals and after we got 4 chinchillas he spent hours trying to come up with ways to improve their cage and stumbled upon the idea of a hanging metal tunnel. One of our chins thinks he is a beaver so wooden tunnels don't last long! After he had made a few for our chins he asked me if I would post in a chinchilla FB group I had joined to ask if anyone would like him to make them a tunnel. He has always split any profit he makes between himself and a local animal charity where he volunteers. The bit he keeps for himself all gets spent on treats for our animals ❤

Hello! Sorry for the long silence! We are still here and my son is still making Chinchunnels! Thank you to everyone who has come and found our page over the summer and to all of you who have placed orders. My son feels so lucky to be able to help the charity he loves by doing something he enjoys!

I know there are some new people who have joined the page so please forgive me for reposting something I wrote in May, I just couldn't explain who we are and what my son does better than I did in this post in May!

Welcome to Chinchunnels. I'm Emma and I run this page on behalf of my 13 year old autistic son. Just over 2 years ago we became the proud owners of 4 chinchillas and ever since then my son has spent most of his time trying to come up with toys and things for them.

Two years ago he made his first tunnel for our chinchillas and asked me to ask in some FB chinchilla groups if anyone would be interested in buying a tunnel. His motivation was if he could sell a couple he would be able to raise some money for a local animal charity he volunteers at and use the little bit of money he kept to buy more things for our chinchillas. Many, many, many tunnels later and with the encouragement of the chinchilla groups we set up this FB page.

Every Chinchunnel is lovingly made by hand. He tests them multiple times with his own fingers to ensure he hasn't missed any sharp edges and isn't satisfied unless I have tested them out too! I can always tell just from looking at a photo of a tunnel if it is one of the ones he has made as I can see where he has lovingly filed off the sharp edges! He is a perfectionist so will work on each tunnel for as long as it takes to make it perfect!

Every time someone buys a Chinchunnel he does a little dance 😁

So I just want to say thank you to all of our customers past, present and future. My son has never had anything he felt he was good at before. The little notes he writes to put in with his Chinchunnels are the only writing he does as he struggles with it so much but he is determined to write a note to thank each and every one of you for buying one of his Chinchunnels.

Every Chinchunnel that is bought not only helps out our wonderful local animal charity and keeps our 'thinks he's a beaver' chinchilla (and his brothers) in toys to destroy but it also gives my son something that is priceless, self-esteem and self-confidence and a belief that he actually does have something he can offer the world so thank you all so much.######

A little collection of shapes 😊

I usually make the shaped ones with the following ingredients as the treat aspect.... fine cut rosehip, fine cut hibiscus, bee pollen, leaves... so the cutter makes a nice tidy edge!
However all the other cookie treat ingredients can be used too but they may not be quite as super neat around the edges 😂

Permanent resident Venus is enjoying her Chinchunnels toy! We've been using them for a long time now and the quality is spectacular 🥰 and they're made by a young lad with a love for exotic rodents 😁 so thank you for our toy from all the fluffs here.

So onto the purpose of this post. Since the 31st Dec our suppliers have put their prices up 😕 We have absorbed this for our orders throughout January but seeing how hard my son works on his tunnels I don't feel right undervaluing the work he produces so I am afraid from midnight tonight there will be a price increase. Any tunnels ordered and paid for before midnight tonight can be ordered at our original prices.

From midnight tonight
unpainted tunnels will cost £28 plus £5 p&p
Painted tunnels will costs £35 plus £5 p&p

The larger price hike for the painted tunnels is because he was only charging for the cost of the paint, not the time taken to paint them before.

Due to the large volume of orders we have been receiving standard turnaround time will be 2 weeks from receipt of order to posting. If you need to place an urgent order, for a chinny birthday for example, please do contact me to discuss as he will do his best to accommodate you.

Finally thank you so much to all of you for your ongoing support. My son has never really had something that he felt he was good at before, your orders make him so happy. Thank you!x

I know lots of you are ordering as a Christmas present so because the post is being very slow at the moment and just so that he actually has enough time to make them our cut off for Christmas orders is going to be the 30th November. He will still be taking orders after that date but we can't guarantee they will be with you in time for Santa to put them under the tree 🎄 x
