3 tailwind teams out on the trails.
We are lucky and get to train on the historic Iditarod trail.

Sam leaving Kalskag last night. He could have blown through this checkpoint but stopped for 7 minutes to grab some water to take down the trail for his team. Video shows how responsive, alert and ready our team is.
Fun 4th of July exploring our wonderful state

Happy Solstice from Cleo and the team at Tailwindkennels. We hope everyone got in some good outdoor adventures with their k9 besties like we did🐾❤🐾
This winter I tore my MCL in December and it appeared our aspirations of another Iditarod might be over. The team was in perfect shape and ready to race however their human leader was as usual the weakest link. With a lot of support and not enough pt we continued training. I went from regularly running my race team of 16 dogs to being scared I could control and steer a 7 dog-power team. I spent the winter running smaller teams and my brother raced the Willow 300 in my place. The week before the race I was cleared or as my husband heard the doctor say " not the dumbest idea", and I excitedly debated whether or not to wear my knee brace. It had been religiously worn for 9 weeks however I was aware I would not see my legs or even my long underwear for days and I would need my knee available for the most technical parts of the trail ( the Happy river Steps, Dalzell gorge and Farewell burn). With this in mind I elected to pack my knee brace. This clip was taken many days into the race and was the first time I decided the trail was relaxed and flat enough for me to take a minute and stretch out my leg.
