Springtime is exciting but grass founder isn’t. Make sure you know what to do to avoid laminitis and founder happening to your horse.

Restrictions and adjustments to grazing times may be required. When turning out horses to graze, turn them out in the early morning hours because that is when the non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) levels are lowest. Also avoid turnout after cool overnight temperatures or a frost- this increases the availability of these carbohydrates as well.

Good pasture management practices and rotational grazing will help reduce pasture NSC levels.

So sorry to all my followers, I have gotten lots of riding in but I no longer have a friend with the time to help me make more videos😔

Been a while since I’ve been able to do some videoing with my girl! We are moving her to a farm that will be even closer to my home this weekend. Hopefully this allows me to work with her more even when I’m working full time.

I’d like to introduce a place I’ve grown to love, Valentia Equine Retraining Centre! It’s a rescue for horses and all sorts of farm animals. They also sell fresh vegetables with all proceeds going towards the care for the rescued horses and animals!
