Nelson update❤️

He did great through his cryptorchid neuter surgery and has fully recovered.
Nelson came to us with a front leg that clearly had been injured at some point in his life. During his surgery x-rays were taken of the leg. 2 healed fracture were noted. The radiologist recommended follow up x-rays in 4-6 weeks to rule out a growth in his bone. Once we have the results of the next x-rays we'll know what type of home will be best for Nelson. Nothing has slowed this guy down. He's playful with the other dogs in his foster home and he has a new found love of tennis balls.
This is rescue...you never know what challenges these dogs will face.We are committed to helping Nelson through his challenges and finding him the best home❤️

This week Nelson got his shelter shave down cleaned up by Turbo Dog Grooming LLC We cant wait to see how handsome this guy looks with his fresh, healthy new coat.

Nelson also saw the vet this week. He has a healed injury to his left front leg, possible dry eye in the left eye and he's scheduled for a cryptorchid(only 1 testicle dropped) neuter surgery next week. This surgery could be more extensive than normal and will definitely be more expensive!

None of this has taken his love for life. He adores people and other dogs. He walks well on a leash and didn't pay much attention to the cat he met. Please message us if you would like more information on how to adopt Nelson❤️

Rescue journey in progress❤️❤️

Welcome to Sammy's, Nelson! This sweet boy is aprox 4 years old. He seems to be a Maltese, Poodle, maybe a little Shihtzu type of mix. We're so curious we ordered a DNA test kit. He weighs 14lbs and was found as a stray in Fresno, CA. The shelter immediately gave Nelson a medical grade shave to help him feel better. He will see our groomer(more pictures to follow) and vet this week! Nelson still needs to be neutered, but he's ready to start looking for a home. This energetic guy likes to go for walks, ride in cars and is a cuddler. He doesn't mind other dogs and hasn't met a cat yet. Please message us if you'd like more information about Nelson.

Welcome to Sammy's, Doug! This handsome 1 year old arrived on Saturday from an over crowded shelter in California. He did great at his routine vet visit, rode well in the car and he enjoyed a bath from his foster mom. He's getting along with the resident dogs, cats and children in his foster home. Doug has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and is ready to find a home❤️ Doug needs an active owner with time to teach him some basic manners, give him lots of love, take him on adventures and buy him squeaky toys. (He loooves his toys)

Handsome Doug will be coming to Sammy's soon! We've got foster care lined up and some training classes to keep him active and social! Now we just need to find this guy a permanent place to call his own. Doug gets along great with other dogs and he loves to play fetch. He's neutered and approx 1 year old.

Welcome to Sammy's, Coal. We were lucky enough to get Coal right in to Turbo Dog Grooming LLC today. This local rescue was in pretty sad shape. He had dew claws growing into pus filled pads, fleas, evidence of infection/inflammation in his testicular area and debris was removed from his ears- both of which still smell like mildew. This poor guy flops over when a hand is raised, he's scared to death of a leash/collar and paddles his front legs like he's going to be put into water when you hold him... he's been bounced around and was with the surrendering owner for only 4 days. Thank you, Jennifer Julian for letting us know about this Shih tzu in need. He has what is likely his first Veterinary appointment coming up and is resting comfortably tonight💟

Welcome to Sammy's, Betsy! This beautiful senior has just come through some rough times. A big thank you to Clackamas County Dog Services for the medical shave and nail trim, urgent flea treatment, dental cleaning and bloodwork. We're happy to keep this deserving girl on her road to recovery and a happy life.💜

These 4 feral kittens were trapped in our community by Vanessa Flores a little over a week ago. We kept these spicy little babies safe and well fed until todays spay/neuter surgeries. Thank you Homeward Bound Pets Humane Society for getting them all in on the same day. Sammy's covered the sugery costs for the kittens and provided transportation. Vanessa was able to trap mom, too and she was spayed in Salem, Oregon earlier this week!
