Ok folks, time to make a very special piece of Ice Age history available to a new home. This one took me ages to find, and a nicer one you will struggle to find.
This is an incredibly well preserved Woolly Mammoth molar, between 40 and 60 thousand years old. This level of preservation is astonishing and rarely seen. The chewing surface of this molar has to be seen to be believed.
From my personal collection, and available for 7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣Australia only at this stage…..
Pekania pennanti…..
I can only imagine this old, gnarled male Fisher having a chip on its shoulder during life!
The worn out and broken teeth, huge sagittal crest and wide, but thin zygomatic arches are all features of a long life, well lived.
I love skulls like this that tell a story. Hats off to this old battler.
I am offering an opportunity to add this amazing piece of Pleistocene history to your collection.
This is a stunning Woolly Mammoth molar, dating back 50 000 years. It has been preserved in the Russian permafrost, and is of the highest quality.
The molar has beautiful dark colouring on the outside, while the inside of the molar is so well preserved it still retains its beautiful creamy white color.
Mammoth Molars if this quality are rarely seen available. This one is available for 7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣
Feel free to send me PM if you are interested….
I absolutely love creating these anatomical North American Beaver skull models!
Beaver teeth are among the most amazing in the natural world, continuing to grow throughout their life, and taking on a sharp, chiseled shape in order to cut through timber.
This lovely old girl is pet memorial I completed today.
She was a fun loving, goofy Italian Greyhound who loved lying around in this position, which is commonly known as “roaching” in the dog world.
She had a kink in her tail, gaps in her smile, and most interestingly a steel plate and wires holding her rear paw together after a run in with a horse when she was younger.
Although she was a huge challenge, I’m really happy with how she turned out.
Otaria flavescens - Southern, South American, or Patagonian Sea Lion skull.
This huge male skull is absolutely jaw dropping! The sexual dimorphism in this species is extreme, with males growing to around 350 kilograms, while a large female only reaches around the 140kg mark.
I will post some comparison photos in the coming days to give a better idea of size.
Interestingly, the bite force of an African Lion is only around 650 pounds per square inch. To put that into perspective, a polar bears is about 1200 psi, and a Jaguars is around the 1500 psi mark. The Saltwater Crocodile has the greatest bite force in the animal kingdom - 3700 pounds per square inch!
The is a few trains of thought in regards to why their bite force is relatively weak, but the fact that African lions often hunt in groups and eat their prey where it lies seems to be the most widely accepted explanation.
This skull is a very old Male African Lion that was born and died in a zoo.
