The Animal Protection program sends food to Buddhist monasteries with animals. We do not mention the monasteries to prevent abandonment. The food helps the animals stay healthy and is our way of thanking the monastery for their kindness to let them stay on their premises. Rahula Felv Sanctuary Today, we have a belated birthday celebration for Shaloh and Shalom.
Belated because we were very busy with a few sick senior cats.
Sorry, this pic is not so clear or composed.
These 2 are super active and always run to their papa for hugs. IT is challenging to take their photos, and taking both simultaneously is even more difficult.
Very happy to celebrate this special day with them. Shaloh and Shalom have been super sweet and affectionate. When they see new cats in the sanctuary, they think of ways to make them feel welcome. Happy birthday to 2 precious babies!

Happy birthday, Blessing.
Blessing was found with sores on his face, and further checks showed he only had one functioning kidney. He also has an autoimmune condition and his face and body can break out in sores. When that happens, he needs a steroid jab.
We suspect he is a victim of a backyard breeder!

Despite his conditions, as long as we give him the care, he can live a normal life.
It has been five years since we adopted him, and he is doing very well. He requires a lot of work, but his health is great, so it's worth it.
Today, we celebrate his 10th birthday.
It is a belated birthday because we were so busy with the other cats medical issues the last few days.

Uncle Rabbit is not well. He was discharged today and on medication. The vet suspects a tumour growth or an infection. Ashe is anemic, the vet is trying to be careful. The good news is he is eating and putting on weight. Next week, we will bring him for another check up and discuss options.

This photo makes us very happy. The rabbit on the right is custard.
She was born with splayed leg.
The owner kept her siblings but gave her up for adoption.
Our friend took over and was later adopted by us.
Custard has a disability, but she can move and enjoy a good quality of life—not much different from normal rabbits.
Initially, shimmer attacked her, and after rounds of introduction, they became very close.
We are sad the owner didn't want her because of a disability. but it is not her fault, and she didn't ask for it.
So we are very happy to have her. Bob and Shimmer made us very happy when we see how much they love and care for custard.

Dodo has passed away from diabetes.
He was a com cat and when he was unwell, a kind lady took him to the vet. He was found to be diabetic and required daily insulin injections.
There were 3 feeders. One ghosted the lady while the other 2 did not want to handle needles.
He was put in commercial boarding and we were approached to adopt him. Shortly after we adopted him, he had a seizure and was on anti-seizure medication. The dosage was slowly reduced and eventually stopped. Luckily, the seizure did not happen again.
Dodo is a big foodie and loves his new home and his new siblings.
Now, he has closed his chapter as a cat. Welcoming him at the rainbow bridge are a lot of siblings who had arrived before him.

5 years ago, Blessing appeared on the street with sores on his face caused by an autoimmune disease. He only has one functioning kidney.
He is very likely the victim of backyard breeding.
If he remained on the street, he would likely die of infections so we adopted him.
He needs a steroid jab when the sores are bad but otherwise ok.
We need to keep him clean and give him lots of love.
Its been 5 years since he arrived, and he is living happily with his new siblings.
He hates it when we shower him but everything becomes ok after we give him a hug.

FeLV cats health can be unpredictable.
Regressive can turn progressive and the virus can just attack the bone marrow.
We cant change that. All we can do is to make them feel loved and happy every day

Yesterday, Asher passed away from cancer.
He was a community dog who used to live in a factory.
When they moved, he was left behind. The new tenant chased him away.
We adopted him because he was a senior bg size dog with heartworm and joint issues. He was not human friendly too.
It took us 7 months before we could hug and kiss him.
Late last year, he was diagnosed with cancer and yesterday, he left peacefully.

She is enjoying the salmon wet food. It is a complete food, grain free and carrageenan free.
As FeLV+ cat has a higher cancer risk, we make sure all of our cats do not consume carageenan!
Carrageenan is a gelling agent used in many wet food.

This is our sweet girl, Medha, who squeaks.
When she was a kitten, she was kept in a hamster cage and her spine began to curve.
Luckily, our friend heard of the situation and persuaded the owner to give her up. And Medha came to us.
As she was still young, lots of playing, running and stretching helps to restore her spine and it was straightened!
She is now a happy and healthy girl!

Papa Richard is napping with our dog Asher.
We adopted Asher because he was a senior big dog who is not human friendly and also has heartworm and artitrits.
The chance of him being adopt is zero and he will spend the rest of his life in a shelter.
It took about 6 months before he accepted us.
He has cancer and is now on palliative care

The last few weeks have been so busy. We took in many new rescues. These 2 black cats are brothers. Felix became very sick and almost died. After a vet stay, he was diagnosed with heart failure. We have taken him back to care for him. Then we released he had a brother who is very close to him and we adopted him as well so that they will not be separated!

Today, we are delighted to celebrate Bubble's birthday.
It is his first birthday with us since we welcomed him to Rahula Felv Sanctuary
We had a little party and the birthday boy invited his siblings to to his party. He is a very nice, warm and caring cat so he has become very popular in the sanctuary!
