1/3 of all dogs and cats go missing a year in the US! 80% are reportedly never found; about 9,500,000 end up in shelters and only 16% have proper identification! Dogs and cats usually get stolen and then are either sold, used for breeding or used for bait; others get sick or injured and can’t get the help needed; some are killed by getting hit by traffic or by fighting with other animals; some cannot find proper shelter or food/water; some end up in shelters where they either get adopted out or euthanized.
