After my 23 minutes of wallowing, my Daddy and I enjoyed the rest of our day together. The two of us ran, played, and frolicked for quite some time! Then, just like Brutus did to Caesar, my Daddy stuck the proverbial knife right in my Furry Little Back🔪! Et tu, Daddy, et tu?

My Daddy said that my official Ferret Coronation 👑 will be taking place later this week, and that I had no choice but to take a bath 🛁 so I would look my Fuzzbutt Best! As most of my Ferret Brethren will agree, bathtime 🛀 is one of the greatest indignities my species endures! The whole 'Soaking Wet Weasel Thing' is definitely not our best look! Minks can pull it off flawlessly, but not us Ferrets! I know what you're gonna say, "Stubby, you like taking a shower 🚿. What's the difference?" Let The Ferret explain...

Baths 🛁 are sooooo boring! Laying around in the bathtub 🛀 is like marinating meat 🍖! Plus, if you stay in the bathtub 🛀 for too long, you end up looking like a sun dried tomato 🍅 when you get out! My Daddy likes to take baths. I'll save you all the ugly details about the wrinkled mess he becomes when he lays in the bathtub for too long!

Anywho, when I'm in the shower 🚿, I get to sing 🎤 (I like to sing 'Sexyback' by JustinTimberlake... don't ask me why) and I get to Weasel War Dance 🕺till my Furry Little Heart's content! Baths don't quite offer the same level of fun and excitement, to say the least! Plus, according to top level scientist Dr. Rodney Papuffnick of the Papuffnick Institute in California, there's "sort-of" scientific proof that being in the shower🚿; feeling that gush of warm water down our Furry backs, will make a Woozle feel relaxed and happy. Our brain is even triggered to release the feel-good hormone dopamine, which soothes nerves and lifts the spirits! In other words, Daddy, take your bath 🛁 and shove it! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to run around like my body has been set on fire🔥and dry myself off! When I'm done, maybe I'll stop by my Daddy's shoe closet and leave him something to wash off his feet 💩 as my subtle way of saying Thank You!

Poor loves! Now they will be cared for and find their forest home with AZ Ferret Rescue!

Well these are the three ferrets that were found in a dog crate in the alley in Chandler they are here safe at the rescue they all were treated for ear mites and one had an implant they have adjusted and played and even had soup tonight.
I'm not sure what type of a horrible person would put your ferrets in an alley when there's so many other resources shame on you and I hope that I find out who you are so I can shame you.

They are the sweetest little things and smart to boot! They love their humans and as you can see from the photo will fall asleep easily in your hands! Can’t wait to see these three grow up(but I will miss the duckling stage)

Welcome to the Fuzz, Scales, and Hooves Rescue and Sanctuary these beautiful felines! They will be up for adoption as soon as they are spayed or neutered.

These pretties came from Gilbert, AZ. The family that was feeding and helping these strays stay well was very kind and generous, including a donation to help with their current care and upcoming surgeries. The diligent mom cat has been caring for these ~3 week old overlords in training.

A – is for anaesthesia

As part of the veterinary nursing role many of us take on the job of anaesthetist in theatre. This involves monitoring your pet’s anaesthetic and liaising with the operating veterinary surgeon. Anaesthesia is often a scary thought for many owners who have pets ‘going under’, and it is not without some risk just as it is in humans. However, as medical advances continue, we reduce these risks more and more. Anaesthesia is a triad of three things – analgesia (pain relief), relaxation and hypnosis (unconsciousness), and there is no one drug protocol or one size fits all. We give various things to achieve anaesthesia at various dosages and combinations, this all depends on the patient an its age, disease status, operation or procedure being performed and vets experience. When monitoring your pet we use a combination of things from heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressures, carbon dioxide breath levels, blood oxygen levels, ECG readings and reflexes to monitor how deep or light the animal is an how stable they are it is a skill which many vet nurses are fabulous at. Trust that although your animal may be operated on by a fabulous vet, there will be a vet nurse at their side watching your pet like a hawk.

Best news, Jan. 20th versus today, successful medication with Nova! We just noticed our girl Nova has fur growing back significantly on her lower back and tail! So happy! She will still be having surgery to remove the cancerous adrenal gland but are still moving closer to making Nova more comfortable. The melatonin addition to her usual Deslorin implant was a success! Her hair seems like it grew overnight, I swear. I hope it is only good news from here and that her surgery goes well with her recovering quickly.

Ms. Nova is at the vet today today for an abdominal ultrasound, adrenal implant (Deslorelin implant), and a melatonin implant to try to investigate and help her hair loss. Reno, her bonded partner in crime came to offer her support and hold her 🐾 Wish Nova luck today and good findings!

We were honored and excited to meet the author of, "My Name is Musky! A Ferret's Story" aka and more importantly Musky's daddy
(My Name Is Musky)! We also were able to hear him speak at the Western States Ferret Roundup 2021, promoting the legalization of owning domesticated ferret in California and Hawaii until it is legal in all 50 states, U.S.! We also had the pleasure of hearing more about AZ Ferret Rescue and the great efforts continuing with the rescue! Our Famous Fearsome Ferret Fivesome were winners too! Panda won first place in the cup tip contest, Rasc won third in the same contest, Nova (aka Baldbutt) won first place as the Best Senior Ferret and Reno (her partner in crime) won 3rd in Senior category, and Pickles won 3rd place in the Younger Ferret category. Every single baby took home a ribbon! They are now resting after such an exciting and fun filled day!I had the honor of speaking about ferrets and black footed ferret conservation. Looking forward to next year and seeing legal ferrets everywhere!
