While their daughters were kicking up their heels in the OH ring, The Stunning Mrs. Vance and The Grey Lady finished the weekend with another Group 4 in a huge, star-studded hound group at the Central Ohio Kennel Club!!!

Thank you to group judge Mrs. Pamela S. Lambie, and to breed judge Mr. Charles L. Olvis, for finding our pride and joy today!!

Really proud of Miranda and Josie for making it happen in such stiff competition at year’s end. And as Josie’s specials career winds down, again we say thank you to the many judges who have honored her with their group placements – nearly 75 group placements in total – and especially to our breeder-mentor Mrs. Patricia V. Trotter for blessing our family with this amazing dog.

The best thing about this year’s Samoyed Club of America, Inc. National Specialty was getting to spend the week with our beloved Mrs. Trotter. She judged the class girls on Friday, and it was my great honor and privilege to serve as her steward and take notes for her as she sifted a huge entry.

Best of all, we got to enjoy some family time breaking bread together on the waterfront!

Friends, be sure to tell your mentors how much you love and appreciate them. Those who are willing to pay it forward by sharing their wisdom and experience are truly priceless.

This is a classically-bred bitch, sired by CH Vin-Melca’s Viking Mark, who was sired by Josie’s maternal grandsire, CH Vin-Melca’s Top O’ The Mark out of a Calista (Sarah) daughter. Pedigree geeks like me, eat your heart out!

Sally finished her championship earlier this year at the Norwegian Elkhound Association
Of Northern California Specialty in Fresno, and Mrs. Trotter offered us the opportunity to bring her home to Ohio this summer. To say that we are honored to be trusted with more than 70 years of Mrs. Trotter’s painstaking efforts to preserve this incredible breed is an understatement.

Josie finished the year as the No. 1 Norwegian Elkhound in the NOHS Standings (No. 2 in the All-Breed Standings behind her littermate The Jaywalker), and will be competing at the National Finals during the Orlando cluster.
