I’ve gotten a lot of calls asking for help training with a fence boundary
I will tell you what I’ve told all who ask me
No I will not train with these
They are dangerous

This is one of the reasons why we do not like invisible fences for our adoptions:

This little guy got out of his invisible fence...no doubt chasing a squirrel that was outside the boundary. He managed to fight off the coyotes that tried to kill him.
The shock collar around his neck had prevented his return to his home and yard, so he went back into the woods to lay down to die. His owner was determined to find him. When he was found he was pretty torn up with a temp of 94°F.
Invisible fencing is Not going to keep animals, or other threats out of your yard.
If your dog runs through the barrier in pursuit of a critter, he's going to get corrected by that collar if he tries to get back home.... Please reconsider invisible fencing. People may say that they have been using them for years without issue.
However, it only takes once

I get a call the other night from my neighbor & she tells me that her neighbors behind her had been complaining that her dogs keep on barking non-stop, which they do. We already had the conversation about how we hate the electric zapping bark collars, so I suggested her purchasing a humane citronella collar, that way when the dogs barked, it shot out a blast of citronella under their nose and they don't like it. This morning she calls me over to her yard and asks me to help her figure this darn thingout. So I'm off today and thought what the heck, I'll help. I was getting the collars ready and filled them with their stuff. And that's where my morning should have ended. But no, it's me, and I begin to become curious as to how said collars work.
Now I'm standing on her back porch "barking" at the dog's collar. Nothing happens. I make sure it's turned on, check the fill level, and go through the "getting started" check list one more time. Again, I bark. Nothing happens. She’s getting worried that they are defective and can’t take them back because we opened & filled them. Now I'm not quite sure, why I had this next thought, but I did; I put on the collar. I seriously extended the band and fit the growl box against my throat and barked. Apparently, the collar only works if it feels vibrations, because I immediately received a blast of citronella to the face. I began coughing, which only caused the collar to continue to sq**rt bug spray over and over into my nasal cavity. I'm now on my hands and knees in her back yard, trying to breathe, and to make matters worse, the dogs are now barking. So between coughing and yelling at her & the dogs to shut up, I've emptied over a dozen blasts of citronella to my face. During all of this ruckus, I'm trying to undo the clasp of the collar, which has somehow managed to weld shut during this whole fiasco. She’s of no help! Trying to get the dogs inside & get scissors to cut the dang thing off me before I die. I finally get the collar off and threw, yes I threw that crazy (inhumane) thing across the yard, and lay in the grass sucking in the cool morning air. In the middle of thinking this is probably the dumbest thing I've done in a while, I hear laughter. HER NEIGHBOR SAW THE WHOLE THING! He was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe. Between gasps, he tells me,"I was gonna come help, but every time I started to climb over the fence, you'd set it off again and then I would started laughing and couldn't make it" So now, not only are my eyes red, but my face and ears are too. After checking to make sure I was ok, we parted ways and I went in to wash my face so I wouldn't be smelling like ode de' Tiki Torch. So lesson learned: next time (yes, there will always be a next time with me) make sure that 1. Don't fill the collar before trying to set it off and B. Remember your friend/neighbor is not a good source of help in a comedy crisis situation. On the plus side, I won't have a mosquito problem for a few days!.....and now that even though this does sound like something I'd do I hate to break the news that it's a copied story that gave me a good chuckle so feel free to do the same 😂😂😂

1941 - Coast Guard “training” a Great Dane

Due to the size and weight of a Great Dane the United States Military wanted to train them as working dogs in World War II.

The training program was so unsuccessful that it drove a dog training Sergeant to tears when he repeatedly tried to get a Great Dane to jump over an obstacle, the playful Great Dane would run up to the obstacle, grab the entire structure in his teeth and then bring it back to the Sergeant and place it at his feet wanting to play.

It was shortly after that the United States Military gave up training Great Danes for war.

Isn’t he handsome?
Of all the dogs I’ve trained I’ve never said I had a favorite until now
JJ completely stole my heart
He was such an amazing dog to train and super smart
What made it even better was his family worked with him
I have never graduated a lab at the age of 5 months. Usually that’s when the trouble is starting
But JJ I graduated tonight
I’m going to miss this boy!!

I can’t tell you how often I see someone fiddling anxiously with their leash and the dog is also anxious
