Meet DFWBR foster Ransom, a testament to resilience and love. 🐾 This brave soul came to us from a shelter in San Antonio, TX, likely after a car accident. Despite his injuries, Ransom’s spirit remained unbroken. While we awaited his vet appointment, his splint came off, revealing a much worse break than we anticipated.
Thanks to the incredible DFW Boxer Rescue team and their dedicated vets, Ransom underwent a crucial leg amputation to free him from pain and give him a chance at a joyful life. Just one day post-surgery, he’s already walking, eating, and showering us with love.
Ransom's journey is far from over, and with your support, the best is yet to come.
Join us in celebrating his new beginning and consider donating to DFWBR to help more dogs like Ransom find their happy ending. ❤️🐶
HELP us pay the “Ransom”! Our lovable foster pup, Ransom, would be grateful for your help to cover his medical bills. Don’t worry, this kind of ransom doesn’t involve any shady characters—just one sweet dog in need of a little extra love and support. We only need $12 from 200 people, but any extra will go towards future medical needs and “ransoms”. We couldn’t do what we do in saving Ransom and other boxers like him without the generosity of our amazing community. We are so grateful for you!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Otis II
Hi! My name is Otis! I’m a handsome 8-year-old fawn male that is an owner surrender due to my family’s lifestyle changes that are beyond anyone’s control. I am described as friendly, shy, calm, quiet, nervous, obedient, and affectionate. I do have a fear of men, but after a slow and proper introduction of me getting to know them, they are my buddy! There is a 10-year-old human kid in my current home and I do fine with him! I currently live with another boxer (Lily III) who is also looking for her forever home (we can be adopted separately or together is even better!) and we do fine with each other. I currently live with a cat and I move away and whine when I see him. I haven’t tried to hurt or chase him. I am house trained and crate trained! At night I sleep in the living area. I’m never alone often because Lily and I keep each other company and do fine. I prefer a stay at home human because I am used to that lifestyle and do not like to be alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or jump fences/gates. I get nervous riding in the car and do not like being alone, loud noises, or thunderstorms/rain and will shake when there is a storm. I don’t really play with toys and mainly just like to cuddle with and be close to my human(s). My current owner says I would do best in a calm household with a stay at home person. I am a low activity, super sweet boy that is looking for my human that is patient and will allow me to be their shadow. If you think I would be a good fit for your family, contact the rescue today because I’m waiting to meet you!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Lily III
Hi! My name is Lily! I’m a beautiful 10-year-old flashy, brindle lady that is an owner surrender due to my family’s lifestyle changes that are beyond anyone’s control. I am described as friendly, active, playful, and smart, obedient, and affectionate. I do have some non-cancerous growths and a painful hip, so my ideal home would be stair free so that I can move around in ease. There is a 10-year-old human kid in my current home and I do fine with him! I currently live with another boxer (Otis II) who is also looking for his forever home (we can be adopted separately or together is even better!) and we do fine with each other. I currently live with a cat and I get very focused and curious about it when I see him. When told “leave it”, I listen. I haven’t tried to hurt or chase the cat but my ideal home would be cat free although that is not a deal breaker! I am house trained and crate trained! At night I sleep in the living area. I’m never alone often because Otis and I keep each other company and do fine. If I must be crated, I am ok with it and do fine. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or jump fences/gates. I get nervous riding in the car and not a fan of laying on the floor. I prefer comfortable bedding, pillow, couches, etc. Some of my favorite things are balls, relaxing, and laying in the sun. My current owner says I am very sweet and affectionate. I’m an independent gal but like to cuddle the humans in the evenings and love everyone! I am part of the rescue's Silver Heart program also! If you think I would be a good fit for your family, contact the rescue today because I’m waiting to meet you!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Zeke II
Hi! My name is Zeke! I am an approximately 5-year-old handsome fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to my owner moving into a smaller home and taking on a new job that doesn’t allow her to give me the attention I need. I am described as friendly, playful, nervous, and affectionate. I am said to have not gotten along with dogs in the past, am an alpha personality, and resource guard my food, so it is best that I am the only dog in the home. I currently live with a child (age 2 years) and I am great with her and let her do whatever she wants to me and I do not get annoyed. I have never lived with a cat so it is unsure if I am cat friendly and a proper introduction would be needed. I am house trained but am not crate trained. When I am crated, I foam at the mouth, heavy breath, cry, and bark until I am out of the crate. When the humans must be away, I get anxious and prefer to be with the humans. At night I sleep on my bed in the human’s bedroom. When outside I do not dig but will jump the fence when the trash truck passes by. I do not like riding in the car or when a male human raises their voice. Some of my favorite things are playing with any stuffy, people, cuddling, and sleeping! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

🏡 Happy Gotcha Day Marjorie & King IV!
Marjorie has a new address! She had lots of fun hanging out and getting her vetting completed with her foster family and now has met her forever family and headed home! Congratulations to Marjorie, we are so happy for everyone!
King IV was an owner surrender that needed a new home. He hit the jackpot and met his new family! It was love at first sight and we are so happy for everyone involved!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Harpoon
Hi! My name is Harpoon! I am a handsome 9-month-old flashy sealed brindle boy that is an owner surrender due to becoming homeless and my caretaker is unable to keep me due to the rental agreement. I am described as friendly, smart, calm, playful, quiet, obedient, and affectionate! I am a puppy with puppy tendencies. It is said that I am dog and kid friendly but I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I am not house trained or crate trained and would need a patient human to help assist me with learning that in my forever home. At night I sleep on my dog bed and when the human must be away, I react fine to being alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. So far, I have not shown to be fearful of anything. Despite being thin and having missed a few meals, I am particular about food. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, affection, and human interaction! I am unsure how to play with toys and I am still learning. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Belle II
Hi! My name is Belle II! I am a lovely 11-year-old flashy fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to the 7-month-old kid in the home being allergic to me and my current owners can no longer take care of me. I am a proud member of the rescue’s Silver Heart Program so be sure and ask about it because there are many perks for my adoptive family! I am on medication for my thyroid and arthritis as well as Proin for incontinence. I let nothing slow me down and have a heart full of love to share! I am described as friendly, active, smart, calm, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I am well behaved and dog and kid friendly! I have not had exposure to cats so a proper introduction would be needed. I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep in my kennel or on my dog bed. When the humans must be away I do fine being alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of thunderstorms but love riding in the car, chewing toys, snacks, cuddles, food, and people! My current owner says I am “the best boxer and funny”. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and tell them you are wanting to meet Silver Heart Belle II because I am waiting to meet you!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Rocky X
Hi! My name is Rocky X! I am a handsome 5-year-old brindle boy that is an owner surrender due to my current owner being relocated and unable to keep me. I am described as friendly, active, smart, calm, protective, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I am kid friendly and currently living with 2 kids (ages 13 & 14). I have not had exposure to other dogs so a proper introduction would be needed. I have had exposure to cats and wanted to chase them so living in a cat free home would be best for everyone’s safety. I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep in my kennel. When the humans must be away I do fine being alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of fireworks but love riding in the car, Kong toys, pull rope, peanut butter, and people! I'm not fond of having my nails done so I will kindly pass on pawdicures/spa days. My current owner says I am a “great protector, great family entertainment, super smart, makes silly faces, and a good dog”. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Olaf II
Hi! My name is Olaf II! I am a handsome 2-3-year-old white boy that is an owner surrender due to being found as a stray, my owners unable to be located, and my current family unable to keep me. I am described as friendly, shy, active, smart, calm, playful, and nervous! It is suspected I am hearing impaired so having another dog in the home as a companion would be beneficial! I am said to be dog friendly and can be shy around other dogs. I am also kid friendly and have several grandkids visiting me (ages 1-4 years old). I do not live with a cat so it is unsure if I am feline friendly and a proper introduction would be needed. I will need assistance with house and crate training in my future home. At night I sleep on a dog bed and when the humans must be away I am comfortable being alone. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences or gates but am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. 🚨 Buttons (ABR Swenny) is such a fighter! While I have been updating you about her fractured jaw, I haven't shared all the other challenges she has faced. Since coming to us, Buttons has battled worms and a UTI. Now, she is facing her biggest fight yet. On Friday, Buttons was diagnosed with the parvovirus. Despite parvo being very serious for puppies, Buttons is showing her resilience once again and seems to have a mild case for now. Keep cheering her on as we nurse this little nugget back to a complete recovery! 🐾💗

Treatment for parvo can be very expensive. Please consider helping Buttons with a tax deductible donation. Every little bit helps.

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Luna IX
Hi! My name is Luna IX! I am a beautiful 2 year-old fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to family dynamic changes and my current owner doesn’t have the time or resources to take care of me. I am described as friendly, active, playful, affectionate, and quiet! I do have a small scar on my side from having a benign tumor removed, but otherwise I am perfectly healthy! I am said to be dog, kid, and cat friendly! I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I sleep in my crate or dog bed. When the humans must be away, I do get nervous and will have an accident near the back door. When outside I have good behavior and do not attempt to jump gates or fences but I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. I am fearful of brooms and paper towel rolls but I love riding in the car, playing fetch, chewing on bones, squeaky toys, cuddling, affectionate, and exploring the shallow end of the pool! I get nervous and timid around new people but warm up to them after time. If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

Foster Brock is here to remind everyone about firework safety!
-Microchip your dogs in case they're startled and escape outside.
-Walk your dog during daylight hours to avoid times when fireworks are likely to be set off.
-Move your dog to the safe haven each evening before the fireworks begin. -Provide toys and other things that they enjoy in the safe haven.
-Make sure there are things for you to do too, so your dog isn't left alone.
-Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound of fireworks. Blackout your doggy safe haven, so they can't see any flashes outside.
-Put on some music or TV to mask the firework sounds.
-Ignore the firework noises yourself. Play with a toy to see if your dog wants to join in, but don't force them to play.
-You could also talk to your vet about pheromone diffusers. These disperse calming chemicals into the room and may be a good option for your dog. In some cases, your vet may even prescribe medication.

Brock is currently available for adoption!

💥Provide distractions like white noise, classic radio, or favorite toys

Buttons (ABR Swenny) update: we took Buttons to the vet yesterday. Good timing as Buttons had popped off her buttons two days before! They took out 8 baby teeth and the splint inside her mouth.

She is in a muzzle for the next two months but is now able to eat regular canned food. Not a fan of muzzles so I am trying to think of it as a splint for her jaw.

The CT scan showed the fractures were healing well but not complete yet. Still a large piece of bone missing from the left side.

Still no toys, not even soft ones, but she is allowed to run and to have soft treats.

Here she is showing off her new muzzle. They didn’t have the pink one in a medium but I will be ordering in it the large to be ready for when she grows.

🏡 Happy Gotcha Day!
It’s official!! Renfield has moved from being a hospice foster to a foster fail. 😁
He is now known as Leo.
We have adopted this sweet boy - while we know our time may be shorter than others - we look forward to all the happiness he will bring to our family. Welcome Home Leo!!!
What a difference a loving home makes! Our fans may remember that Renfield was found out in a field with trash and an unopened bag of dog food. (See second pic) Unfortunately his broken leg already healed badly and cannot be fixed and he has several cancerous tumors that cannot be removed but look how bright and full his face looks in the pic with his forever family! His family reports that he gets around well and seems happy. He plays with toys and enjoys handing on the back porch when they grill :)

🏡 Happy Gotcha Day London & Bullet II!
went and found his perfect forever family. It was an instant love match and he forgot we were even in the same room with him still. He’s going to be spoiled rotten with lots of new toys, serval neighborhood dogs to play with, daily walkies and he’ll even get to go on golf cart rides. We’re gonna miss you buddy, but so glad you have your very own family to claim.
Happy News- Bullet II (now known as Ranger) has found his forever home.
I had the pleasure of facilitating the owner surrender of this beautiful sweet boy.
He immediately captured the heart of his new little human. He knew how to be a gentle boy with her from the start. His new family also has a cat who is teaching him the house rules - which he is slowly learning but making good progress. 😁
Family reports just in a few days he is settling in well and soaking up all the love.
Congratulations Ranger!!! ❤️❤️❤️

🎙 Foster Spotlight - Marley II
Hi! My name is Marley II! I am a beautiful 1.5-year-old flashy fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to my owner being unable to care for me any longer. I am described as friendly, active, smart, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I am said to be dog, kid, and cat friendly. I currently live with a 14-year-old human kid and a cat and I like to sniff the cat a lot. I am house trained, crate trained, and know basic commands such as “sit”, “stay”, “shake”, and will even wait to eat until I’m told to. At night I sleep in my crate and when the humans must be away and I am left alone, there is no issue although I’m not left outside of my crate for long. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences/gates but I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. I am fearful of loud noises outside but love riding in the car, plastic chew toys, attention from humans, and licking! My current owner says I am “incredibly sweet and loving” and if you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!
