Great ending to a DVM question about "What makes our treatment different?" Please read:
"Sure, it is a splint. No wounding to apply. Performs the basic functions needed for speedy and complete healing over the entire region of the hematoma. In some cases, we have studied, the hematoma has grown into the lower area near ear canal and no longer able to treat due to not being under splint plate, but this is less than 2 percent. It is not expensive, at least the treatment kit is not. We have no price point for your services to install and remove. Of course, keeping it on the ear is a challenge. We developed a 2-part taping system including an anchor line and a taut crossing strip to lock it in lowest on ear. Without any penetrations, no wounds are caused by a little slippage toward tip. However, proper installation of which I use and we instruct to use, makes this slippage as little as possible. Also, if the broken blood vessels large enough to enable the hematoma to tear apart tissues are not addressed as a first line of action, then something in that treatment is askew. We directly work against the broken blood vessels by making the fluids still around them allowing natural compression to work for us. The rapid development of clot within the first 2-3 days works to our favor. New tissues begin developing as soon as the fluids become still. The rebuilding of artery, vein and capillary, including new growth paths, along with granulation which binds the skin to the forming clot and the other side to the cartilage. These new tissues will remain as the binding tissues after spent blood cells have been absorbed over the next few weeks. The skill in keeping this clot to a thin layer inhibits deformation upon reduction. What is left is a complete ear, without healing exterior imparted wounds, with shape and form natural to the dog, and since the entirety of the hematoma has been healed, very little to no recurrence. 14 days in dressing and removed carefully after. Sometimes in life, simple is the answer. Have we distinguished ourselves?" Auralsplint.org
