BIG (hairy) additions have been taking shape at River Valley D.O.G.S. !!

A few weeks ago we introduced Nala, the newest pup to join the crew at River Valley D.O.G.S. As cute as Nala is, she doesn't add much value to the team (seeing as she lacks opposable thumbs and can't drive herself anywhere... yet!) Luckily, she came with a human (!) who CAN drive, and just so happens to be a great trainer as well 🙂

So now we'd like to introduce you all to the newest human member of the crew at RVD, Erica Fricke!!!

Here's what Erica has to say:

"Hello!! I am beyond thrilled and grateful to join River Valley D.O.G.S! Earlier this summer, Jake and I began talking about the business, put our heads together, and decided to join forces. Our philosophy and methods for training line up just right and fundamentally complement each other. Jake is a phenomenal trainer that our community is lucky to have, and I knew I wanted to work with him as I developed in my career as a trainer.

So, now we'll be able to offer the RVD community twice the value as well as add a new perspective that will only improve the overall quality of the training and our services!

As RVD grows, we are eager to offer top level training to more pups and families. I'll be taking over some of the old training package options, as well as developing some new service options like day training! Day training is where you bring your pooch to us and we do the training for you! (Wait, wait, it’s not that simple!) We’ll also show you everything your pup learned and demonstrate the training games you will play at home that will strengthen and reinforce the new behaviors, as well as your relationship with your pooch.

I'll also be expanding our service area to the north and east!

Sometimes pet owners struggle or run into BIG frustrations while teaching and learning how to train their pets. I absolutely love coaching owners through these skill sets and watching the magic happen when communication works and problem behaviors turn into impressive puppy manners.

I feel at home here, and I’m ready to put my skills into action, teaching pet owners how to be the leader that they can be (and that their dog needs them to be), and teaching pups new tricks that will make their lives low on stress and full of joy!!”

If you’ve ever worked with me before, you probably remember that I don’t recommend daycares all that much… UNLESS IT’S A VERY WELL RUN AND SMALL IN-HOME STYLE.

Openings for this group don’t come up too much, she does a great job selecting the right dogs for the right groups. Check it out!

We are still on the hunt for the perfect daycare addition! We have a fun group of regular daycare dogs and currently have room to add one more pup to the crew! Reach out if you are interested! 🐾

PACK WALK WITH JOHANNA!!!

Thanks to everyone who came to the pack walk the other night. We had such a nice walk and the dogs all did wonderful!

Next pack walk is Thursday, Oct. 17th at 5:30pm. Please RSVP. $20 per dog, one dog per handler unless we talked about it prior.

Jake with .mn will bring his camera to take fall portraits of the dogs. You may purchase prints from him if you wish.

This park has a creek the dogs can get in, lots of confidence building opportunities.

Underdstanding The Language of Dogs

My Basic Obedience Program is Designed to grow and foster a lifelong trust between the client and their 4-legged companion. Focusing on the “Relationship Based” approach to K9 Obedience Training allows me to remain fluid in my techniques, and cater each training plan to meet the needs of each individual customer. Whether you are a brand new puppy family with no idea where to start the training process, or an individual who needs a quick refresher on how to stop your dog from jumping all the time. Understanding K9 body language, and knowing how to effectively communicate with your dog are the foundational aspects of all obedience training. I started River Valley DOGS in order to help clients understand what their dog is trying to tell them. Once you can speak their language, there’s no limit to how far you can take their training. This program is meant to be a “K9 K-12” education for both the dog and you!
