You may have seen on that our rescue is closing down after seven beautiful years! I am so incredibly grateful to Alissa for finding me and inviting me to join what has turned out to be the best rescue I’ve ever experienced. Together we saved hundreds of kittens and helped even more cats with vet bills, food assistance, vaccines, TNR and other community outreach, all while staying an extremely small group. I’m in awe of what we accomplished.

We made a major impact on our community, and I will always look back at our time so fondly. I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for all my wrenn ladies and we are all staying close friends! There is no ill will whatsoever at play here. Disbanding the rescue has just been a part of the natural flow of things.

I’m not currently fostering, and don’t know when I’ll return to it, but I know I have lots of options when/if I do!

To all my adopters, I know life happens, and if you find yourself needing to rehome a cat you’ve adopted from me, please let me know and I will do what I can to help. I cannot take adult cats back into my home, but I will do my best to help find placement. That has always been my promise to all my babies.

This beautiful girl is Chanterelle. Our rescue brought her and her litter of kittens in, almost 2 years ago, in HORRIBLE shape. She needed an amputation, along with ringworm treatment and upper respiratory treatment. She got healthy, and was adopted over a year ago, stayed in that home for a year, and then was returned to us in February. She has not adjusted well back into foster care, and has been very hostile to the cats in the home that she was formerly friends with before her adoption. She definitely needs a home of her own, BADLY. She would like to be the only cat, and could potentially coexist with a dog who gave her space.

She is a very affectionate and sweet girl who can be chatty at times, and is about 5-6 years old. She loves to sit on the couch and watch tv with her people and be loved on! Her missing leg doesn’t cause her any trouble and she still climbs and gets around just fine.

PLEASE SHARE if you’re in/close to California! The more eyes we can get on her, the better. She is a darling cat and doesn’t deserve what she’s been through.

Yesterday our pandemic baby Aela turned 4! I can’t believe it. She’s very much past “baby” age but she might actually act more baby than ever 😅 she’s super snuggly lately and obsessed with watching bugs and lizards outside. And she’s the best unplanned addition ever 🖤

Always a good day when a box shows up! My cats have thrived on it for 7 years now. After we moved out of Alaska in 2015, I was excited to finally have more affordable raw options. We tried a few, but Darwin’s was the clear winner in both price and convenience. Please share and help us find these kitties a new home more suited to their timid personalities!

We need your help to spread the word!! This is Simon and Ellie, you may recognize them from when they were in the rescue a few years ago. They were adopted into a home and unfortunately - even with a lot of effort- they are not getting along with the adopters other 2 cats that she had before she got Simon and Ellie. The tensions have been building more and more and they very much need a home of their own together. They are 3 years old right now, Simon is the orange and white male and he is more personable with people but very shy to start. Ellie is the white and brown female and extremely shy around people. Even when they were in their foster home they took a lot of work and time to warm up to people. They are very kind and gentle, just timid and slow to warm up. Their ideal situation would be a patient home with a safe indoor/outdoor access or catio option. I know this is a HUGE ask but I am confident that the perfect home is out there for them… we just need to find it. Please please help me spread the word to get Simon and Ellie their forever home! 🤞🙏🏻❤️ They are located in Southern California.

Important announcement: (TLDR at the end)

We’ve been making some major life changes around here for the last year. I’ve posted about it somewhat, but I’ll recap in case anyone’s missed it. My partner has gone from being a highly involved coparent and a (stay at home, thanks mostly to the pandemic) law student to being gone 12 hours a day working as a public defender. I’m the primary parent to our two kids now, and it’s been a huge adjustment. I’m also the family taxi and my days start at 5:30am and don’t end till about 10pm. (PS I’m NOT a morning person 😬 huge adjustment for me lol)

It’s probably not surprising to read this, with the way my content has slowed down so much, but I’ve decided to finally be truthful with myself and admit that fostering isn’t in the cards for me right now. Since I’ve slowed down, my own cats have been DRASTICALLY happier. They didn’t appear miserable in the first place, but the difference without kittens is undeniable. My shy former feral, Fifi, is confidently rolling around on the floor and sleeping in bed with us, things she’s really never done. The other 3 cats are enjoying more of my attention, and there’s been little to no conflict between any of them. We were having daily minor squabbles. It makes me sad to realize how neglected they were apparently feeling the last five years of my heavy fostering.

A major issue with fostering has been my lack of a room I can dedicate to just kittens. I have been using my bathroom, which has “worked”, but there’s no door and no way of adding one, and the kitten smells and sounds are uncontained. I think that was a major factor in my cats’ unhappiness. And maybe someday down the road, if we ever move into a different house and have a room with a door that I can dedicate to fostering, then maybe that could work for us.

I am still open to occasional babysitting for my fellow fosters, and here for advice and support for all my foster friends of course. And I look forward to reopening my shop and being able to offer cat toy fundraisers for rescues again.

I’m not really sure what to do with this account now. I don’t plan on shutting it down, not after how many years I’ve spent sharing and connecting with you all! But.. what would you all like to see here? I have a page for my shop already, where so many of you already follow. Aela has her own page as well, but I’ve considered changing this to be more of an account for my whole cat gang, or maybe a more public sharing of my life as a whole?

TLDR: I am taking a hiatus from fostering because my own animal companions deserve more of me, and my time is so limited right now. I am also reopening my shop full time, and welcoming suggestions on what to do with this account.

THRILLED to finally announce…. HERALD AND TROUBADOUR ARE ADOPTED!!! They went home together, and are now the little kings of their castle. There are no other pets or kids, just a mom and dad with lots of love to give them. Their new names are Georgie and Ollie 🧡🤍

Happy tails, you silly gooses! Third times the charm, and you definitely took your time finding the perfect family but I’m glad we didn’t settle for less! Here’s to the rest of your first holidays spent with your family 😻

These two sweet boys are still looking for their home(s)! It’s been a while since we had adoptable fosters over Christmas (who weren’t here for medical reasons) and I’m a little sad they’re not enjoying their first Christmas with their forever family.

We’ve had one seriously interested sounding couple, but they completely ghosted us after applying and even scheduling a time to meet the kittens. Their loss, clearly, but still so frustrating for the people on our end spending time trying to coordinate the adoptions.

Maybe we’ll find your family/ies by new years, boys? 🤍🧡

They are absolutely the SWEETEST boys, both of them love kisses and being held and they purr nonstop all the time. All they want is to be someone’s baby!

They’re both neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and beyond ready to go. They’d make a great pair or would love to go separately to homes with other friendly cats who’d play with them!

Happy to share that Bard found his forever home last week! His new name is Gordo, he has a 1 year old cat to play with at his new home, and he lives ten minutes away from me 🥹

Bard/Gordo, you were easy to love and a joy from the moment we met until the day I handed you off to your new mommy! Thank you for all the purrs and snuggles and kisses and biscuits. And thank you for reminding me what I love about bottle babies 🤍 You are pure orange cat goodness and I wish you the best life ever!

Now we gotta find your equally perfect brothers their home(s) too 🤍🧡

It’s time!!! Bard, Troubadour and Herald are officially looking for their forever homes. None are particularly bonded to eachother, they are classic bottle babies and very human-oriented. They do love eachother and other cats too of course, and will need another friendly cat in the home to keep them company.

They’re all three extremely friendly and sweet and affectionate. Purr nonstop, and love to play. Perfect angels, really!

These little dudes will be ready for adoption at the end of this month! They can go together, or to homes with other friendly cats. They’re extremely friendly and sweet babies. All 3 are very interested in my adult cats, neutral about my little hyper dogs, and very accustomed to kids. 🧡🤍

Greg and Rodrick got adopted yesterday! Their sweet new family was just over the moon to meet them. 🥹 experiencing the joy of handing people’s new best friends over to them is the biggest reason I do this over and over again. Saying goodbye to even my most beloved kittens is never hard when you know how loved they’re going to be.

Rodrick, now Bodhi, is one of the most chill and mellow and intelligent kittens I’ve ever met, and one of the youngest (if not the youngest?) kitten I’ve ever had rub all over me in an adult cat affectionate/scent marking fashion. He is an old soul for sure!

Greg, now Ziggy, is a live wire and quite the laugh machine. I know he’ll keep his new family in stitches with his parkour actions and stink faces.

Manny also got adopted this week! He’s gone to a home with a lonely 3yo kitty who lost her littermate due to a heartbreaking illness. He’ll be the perfect medicine for her loneliness, since he’s so mellow and such an endearing boy!

Rowley got adopted this week! He was the goofiest and friendliest brother, and not long after I took in this litter, a former adopter reached out about him! He’s been preadopted for basically the entire time I’ve had him 😂

His new name is Pepino, and if you swipe alllll the way through, you’ll see who his new siblings are! ☺️

After 2 days here, these boys are finally excellent bottle drinkers, and today they got a nice deep-cleansing bath to get the remaining flea dirt and meat crust off them. They’re very content little cherub kittens and they purr so much!

I was going to announce that the wimpy kittens were available for adoption… but then almost everyone got preadopted within like two days! All we have left looking for a home is little Manny. (Aka manner bananner)

He’s a very mellow, smart and affectionate guy, who loves to cuddle. Very much a lap kitty, but also loves to play with other friendly cats and even my small dog. He’s great with kids as well!

He’s available to adopt after October 11 🤍 he will be fully vetted (neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed) at that point.

(Aka Greggy, Greggies and greggle) he is always off on an adventure, he’s trying to leave the kitten room the second the gate is open, and he’s always the center of attention. He is super sweet and purry! All his brothers love him and he knows it 🩶

This is Manny and he is a live wire! He is mischievous AF, and he pretty much never stops moving. He loves to be picked up and held, but he also likes to climb as high as he can on anything and fling himself off of it.

It’s pretty hard to tell him and Greg apart, not gonna lie, but there are very subtle differences. Greg has a white patch on his chest + less white on his toes, and Manny has slightly sharper facial features + more white on his toes 😅

This is Rodrick and he has the sweetest face I’ve ever seen. He’s very independent and reserved initially but will come over for a snuggle once he’s decided you’re worthy of it. His purr is deep and warm, and he’s such a good boy 🧡
