Battling my second cold of 2025 so far…is anyone else really looking forward to Spring…I headed to Congleton and had a great time with Team Luna, Team Ludo and Team Margo.

Team Luna are working on pace and reading Luna and are making great progress!

Team Ludo is being challenged with old scent articles and starting approx 30m away from the actual trail!! Needless to say our spinning spaniel smashed it!

Team Margo continues to build confidence and is striding towards their beginner assessments.

Chuck in some moving targets and it’s safe to say everyone was put through their paces.

New location trails at Biddulph Grange!!!

Team Mabel nailed their multi direction start, Team Diva had (what felt like) an army of squirrels as a distraction but managed to complete her trails, Team Freya was cool, calm and on point and Team Harry started dealing with difficulties on only his third session!!!

Did you know the dog training industry isn’t regulated and literally anyone can set up as a dog trainer or behaviourist even if they have no experience or qualifications!! It’s therefore important that we regulate ourselves and even though I’ve been a qualified dog trainer for a number of years it was important to me to become an Animal Training Instructor with the ABTC.

After a year of study with PACT, alongside assignments, theory assessments and practical assessments I’m thrilled to say I’ve passed and am now a registered member of PACT and the ABTC.

In order to stay registered I’ll need to do regular continued professional development so you can be assured I’m always top of my game 😉

Whoever you go to for help with your dogs always ask about qualifications, experience and continued professional development, because those of us that do it, are more than happy to talk about it!

Please join us in wishing our Co-Founder and all round fabulous dog lady Marilyn on becoming a full PACT member today!

Marilyn has been busy behind the scenes working hard on her assessments to meet the The Animal Behaviour and Training Council standards for being an Animal Training Instructor and today got her confirmation that she did it! She passed with flying colours. Never in doubt from any of us here The Canine School of Trailing who know how Marilyn works with dogs. She is caring and supportive with both dog and human end of the leash!

Well, with everything cancelled this week what are you all doing with your dogs to keep them entertained?!?

Marilyn has been enjoying her snowy walks with Scout and Jem but they’ve also been doing some trailing practice inside using the games from the online line handling course!

Getting Jem to use his nose and brain even though they can’t be outside trailing has really helped tame this teenage tearaway this week leaving him super snoozy 😂

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON TRAILING SESSIONS

Unfortunately we’ve had to take the decision to cancel all trailing sessions this week.

With the continued freezing conditions and snow it’s unsafe and driving conditions are hazardous. Add to this the icy pavements and well, it’s just not worth the risk.

If you’re booked on a session this week you’ll receive an email confirming your session is cancelled and a refund will be processed. Please note this can take a few days to appear in your account.

We hope you understand our decision. We don’t cancel sessions lightly however we take the safety of you and your precious dogs seriously and in these conditions we unfortunately have no choice 😢

Stay safe and warm and we’ll (hopefully) see you on trails next week!!!
