This Thanksgiving, we are especially grateful for little miracles like Bunny Foo Foo.

She was found scared and alone in the bushes near Lone Star College UP, likely dumped with only a carrot beside her. Her rescuer gently earned her trust and brought her to safety, not knowing what was coming next.

While waiting for her wellness appointment, her foster watched her gather hay, pluck fur, and build a nest. The next morning, they reached in to add more hay and felt something wiggle. Foo Foo had quietly given birth to four tiny babies overnight.

Thanks to the care of her rescuer and the guidance of our founder and wellness coordinator, Foo Foo now has a safe nest box and is caring for her babies with all the love in the world.

This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the people who show up for rabbits like Foo Foo and for the tiny blessings she brought with her.

If you would like to help this little family, we are in need of alfalfa hay, Oxbow Young Adult pellets, and other baby supplies. You can donate through our wishlist or bring donations to our Winter Bunderland event on December 6. We are also looking for experienced fosters to help us prepare for the months ahead.

Thank you for helping us give rabbits like Bunny Foo Foo something to be thankful for.

[LAZARUS UPDATE] Our sweet boy had another check-in today, and we are holding onto some gently hopeful news. Although he has lost a little weight, his breathing has improved, and seeing him work a little less for each inhale feels like such a gift after watching him struggle. He continues to eat his vegetables and Critical Care well, and that steady intake is giving his body the strength it needs to keep going.

What brings us the most joy is watching him still choose the things that make him happy. He is curious, he explores, he asks for pets, and he enjoys every bit of comfort we can offer. His recovery is still fragile and he needs all the love and good thoughts people can send, but knowing that he feels well enough to enjoy those moments means the world to us.

He will continue receiving antibiotics, pain medication, extra vitamins, and nebulizer treatments to support his healing. This community has wrapped him in so much kindness, and we truly feel it helping carry him through. Every message, donation and encouraging word reminds us that he is not fighting alone.

Now that we have covered the medical side, Lazarus has some thoughts of his own about the level of service at his current establishment, and we thought he deserved a chance to share.

"Hello friends, Lazarus reporting in.

The spa here is very enthusiastic about grooming. They trimmed my beard this time, which I did not approve. I am unsure if the stylist has credentials or if she simply enjoys trimming rabbits.

The food has improved, though. They have added vitamin B and bee pollen, which makes the mush much more enjoyable. The room looks nicer too. I am still deciding if I will stay long term, but for now, it meets the standards.

Thank you for thinking of me and sending good vibes. Treats are also welcome😁.

Warmly,
Lazarus"

Lazarus Update: Lazarus is reminding us every day that even fragile bunnies can be full of joy. He has started eating some of his Critical Care on his own, and in between his rest periods, he lights up. He hops around the room with this sweet determination, climbs on top of his little cardboard house like it is his castle, and explores every corner as if he has been waiting years to feel this kind of freedom. When someone walks in, he comes right over for pets, eager and gentle every single time.

Because he lost so much fur from his medical shave, Lazarus now wears a tiny sweater to help keep his temperature stable(under normal circumstances sweaters on a bunny is a no no). Seeing him explore in his little sweater is enough to make anyone cry. He looks so proud of himself, even though his body is still working hard to heal.

And that is the truth we are holding. He is excited to be alive. He is curious. He is trying with his whole heart. But his breathing is still very concerning. He works harder than he should for every inhale, and while his spirit gives us hope, his body is still fighting to catch up. He will be back at the vet on Tuesday so we can continue giving him every bit of help he needs.

We are so grateful to everyone who has sent Lazarus love, encouragement and support. Because of your generosity, we are able to continue all of his treatments, check-ins and comfort care as often as he needs them. We will always show up for our bunnies no matter what, and your kindness strengthens that work in ways we feel every day.

Lazarus has a long road ahead, but he is walking it with joy, bravery and an entire community behind him. If you would like to support his care, donations to his medical fund are always welcome and so deeply appreciated. Thank you for loving him. Thank you for helping him rise.

: Cloud 9 came to us as a transfer from another shelter, a little unsure, a little tangled from his past, and completely ready for a fresh start. He had the sweetest face and the gentlest personality, and we knew he was the kind of bun who would blossom once he found the right person to love him.

That person turned out to be Smokey’s mom.

Smokey is a long haired bun who has been cherished for years, and his mom had been thinking about opening her heart and home to a friend for him. When she met Cloud 9, she saw something special right away. He was soft in spirit, curious, and looking for a place where he could feel safe. She knew he could be the perfect match for Smokey.

They took the bonding process slowly and thoughtfully. No rushing, no expectations, just two bunnies getting to know each other at their own pace. Smokey watched him. Cloud 9 watched back. And day by day, they grew a little closer. Bonding is never about speed. It is about trust.

And then it happened. They relaxed around each other. They shared space. They chose companionship.

Cloud 9, now named Pichu, is living his happily ever after in a home filled with love, gentle routines, and a bunny brother who understands him. He went from being a shy newcomer to becoming part of a bonded pair who nap together, explore together, and enjoy the kind of quiet happiness only bunnies know how to express.

Happy Forever Home Friday to Pichu and Smokey. A perfect match, a patient journey, and a family that was absolutely meant to be.

Today our sweet Lazarus showed us that he is still fighting. This evening he left us something that made every one of us tear up: his first dozen solid poops. For a rabbit as fragile as he is, that tiny pile meant hope. It meant his body is trying. It meant he wants to stay.

He also nibbled on lettuce and took his Critical Care. Eating is still hard for him because every breath is a struggle through thick congestion, but he leans in anyway. Watching him try, even when it hurts, is the kind of moment that breaks you open.

He visited Dr. Morales today. She gently examined him from head to toe and walked us through the next steps in his care. Even with everything he is dealing with, she said he seems like a strong bunny. Hearing that gave us so much comfort. Sometimes strength looks small and quiet. Sometimes it looks exactly like Lazarus.

He is still very congested, so he will keep doing nebulizer treatments and stay on medication to help him breathe. But when we let him explore the room he is staying in, something in him shifted. He moved slowly at first, then a little more boldly, as if he finally felt a bit lighter than he did before. His eyes softened. His body relaxed. It felt like he was remembering how to be a bunny again.

We are incredibly grateful to Friends For Life ( ) for lending us their incubator. It is keeping him warm and stable, which is so important for a bunny in his condition. That kindness means the world to us.

We are cautiously optimistic. Lazarus is not out of the woods yet, but today brought real moments of hope. He is fighting, and we are fighting with him.

We will continue sharing updates as he heals.
If you have questions or want to send him love, please leave them in the comments below. Your kindness surrounds him, and he needs that softeness as much as he needs medicine and care.

Lazarus had a very big day today. Last night, our founder and wellness coordinator spent about ninety minutes working on his mats, which were severe enough that most of his body needed to be shaved. She finished the rest today, and he is already resting more comfortably.

During the shave she uncovered several conditions that explain the intense discomfort he has been showing. Lazarus has mange, which is a type of mite not commonly seen on rabbits. He also has ear mites and had a significant flea load. Thankfully, there were no live fleas once his fur was removed.

He is incredibly itchy, to the point of trying to dig into his own skin. Mange can make rabbits feel desperate for relief, so getting his treatment started quickly was important. His ge***al area was also severely swollen and sealed in by mats and irritation. We had to work very gently to clean and open the area so he can move and urinate more comfortably. His scent glands were completely sealed shut, and getting those open took the most time and care.

He also has loose folds of skin that hang low enough to affect his movement. This explains why his foot appeared to drag during intake. Once the mats were removed, he was able to move around with more freedom, and he drank and drank water throughout the process. He is hungry, thirsty, and incredibly sweet. Every time she step in to check on him, he pushed his head into her hands for pets.

Lazarus also has a URI and is dealing with significant congestion. At the vet’s instruction, he has started nebulizing treatments and is on medications that will help him on the road to healing. He is not eating on his own yet, but he took his Critical Care very well, which gave us a lot of hope. He is currently in a room that is kept slightly toasty to help keep his temperature up.

He has a vet appointment tomorrow , and we will continue helping him every step of the way. This little rabbit is clearly choosing to fight for his life, and we will keep showing up for him.

Stay tuned for more updates on his healing. He has a long journey ahead, but he is safe now and getting the care he needs.

When Lazarus arrived, he did not make a sound.
He simply looked up at us with tired eyes, surrendered for what we thought was just an eye infection. The truth revealed itself the moment we touched him.

Fleas wandered openly across his back.
Mites clung to his skin.
His eyes and nose wet with white discharge.
His ge***als were swollen and sore.
His breathing was heavy.
And his little foot dragged behind him as he tried to come closer to us.

Even then, even in all that discomfort, he gently pressed his nose toward our hands. He did not shrink away. He accepted kindness and hoped for understanding of his ailments.

We gave him flea medication right away. When he scratched, he let out a tiny, heartbreaking whine. Rabbits rarely make noise, so that single sound told us everything.

Lazarus is almost five years old.
And today, he begins again.

We named him Lazarus because this is his moment to rise into a life where relief is real, comfort is guaranteed and love is his every day.

Stay tuned for updates on his healing journey. He has upcoming vet appointments and a whole new life ahead of him now.

If you're able to help us with his inevitable medical bills please send a dollar or two. Our Pet portrait fundraiser and our Winter bunderland event in December goes to help bunnies like Lazarus who deserve a chance to experience a fresh start at life.

Help us win $10,000 so we can keep saying yes to the bunnies who arrive with complicated medical needs. Moe and Freyja needed treatments right away, and on top of that, they still needed to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and settled into safe, well-supplied foster homes. King Arthur needed gentle medical care and a peaceful place to be loved at the end of his life. Your vote helps us provide all of it.

🎉 We're giving away $10,000 this Giving Tuesday!

Bun Hop’s Awkward Art is back for the holidays
December 5 to 7. All online. All awkward. All for the bunnies.

Our rabbits rely on this fundraiser more than ever. Medical emergencies happen fast and often without warning, and having a strong medical fund ready to go is the only way we can say yes when a rabbit needs urgent care. Your Awkward Art donation helps us save lives.

A $15 donation gets you your artwork for local pickup, and a $20 donation gets it shipped. Choose one and you will receive a portrait of your pet.

Here is how it works:

Donate $15 for pickup or $20 for shipping.

Send us a photo of your pet.

Our volunteer artists create a fun and quirky portrait in their own style.

You receive your artwork:
• If the artist works traditionally, you get their original piece.
• If the artist works digitally, we print your portrait on nice paper for you.

And if you are an artist, we would love your help. Any hand-created style is welcome. It is a light, joyful way to make a real impact. If you want to participate, send us a message.

Awkward Art is playful and silly, but the support it brings is serious and lifesaving. Help us be ready for the next unexpected medical case. Help us keep saying yes.

Get your pet photos ready. Bun Hop’s Awkward Art is almost here, and we cannot wait to create magic together.
