This morning in our lifestyle & skills group, we discussed the need for and introduced how to train an emergency stop from both a visual cue and a voice.
All our training uses positive reinforcement and games to make your dogs learning fun - making their learning something they want to do and enjoy.
We offer different choices for training with either 121 or groups or if you’d like to go straight into our lifestyle groups, all you need to do is attend an assessment/boundary intro lesson.
As well as behavioural training we also offer agility, canine hoopers and scent work.
Please get in touch for a chat as to where you’d like to be with your dog 🐾
We had a 121 client in yesterday who we suggested ‘middle’ to, to help with her dogs confidence.
Such a fun behaviour that can help you with so many struggles - not least helping to achieve a cracking recall!
Who ever said ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ had obviously never heard of games based concept training!
On our last adolescent plus foundations group, we had Riley, a 9 yo Jack Russell 🐶 - he predominantly came so that the owners little boy 🧒🏼 could try his hand at some dog training 🐕
📣🐾🐾Well, today his owner has sent me a video of Riley, not only is he not stressing because his friend has gone to the groomers but he’s also absolutely smashing his boundary training and release cue and he’s obviously loving his training!🐾🐾📣
Our next term of Foundations will be available to book very soon - give it a go, you will be very pleasantly surprised 🥰
Thank you Emma for allowing me to share your video ❤️
Life should be fun!
We adore training tricks, they’re brilliant for mental stimulation and powering up your relationship, plus come in handy when it’s pouring down for something to do indoors!
I haven’t visited the ‘hide’ trick for a while as he was struggling with understanding it, offering me every other behaviour and getting a little frustrated - however, asked him this morning and Bingo! 👏👏👏 just need to refine it now by adding some duration.
The moral of the story, if your dog is struggling learning a new
behaviour then take a step back - set them up for a win by asking for something they find easier and revisit the more difficult task another time.
Let us know if you’d like to learn any trick training - we are DMWYD Certified Trick Dog Instructors 🐾

Feed your dog out of a bowl - just like nature intended! 😜🤣
100% of Drummer’s daily food allowance involves an enriching activity:
I reward everything I ask him to do - especially if it’s something he won’t be keen on doing (coming in from the garden for instance)
I use some for training - be that a training game or agility training
I use some to reinforce behaviour I like - calmness, not reacting to noises/movement etc that he finds over arousing, ignoring the cats 🤣 - this makes it far more likely he will repeat the behaviour I like!
He’ll get his raw food stuffed in a kong - licking and chewing is a natural calming activity
He has things like snack balls that I’ll pop some kibble into and this - his favourite spinning barrel 😊
See how easy it is, to use all their daily food allowance, reinforcing the behaviour you like.

We finish off our 6 week foundations course with a fun game of cardboard chaos and noise box.
Why? Because it’s the ultimate in socialisation and disengagement!
Would you like your dog to have the skills to be this close to other dogs yet ignore them and engage with you and what they’re doing?
This is the kind of skills we teach at K9 Dog Training, this is what makes us different #skillsfortherealworld
Our next groups start next week - and can be booked via the website here: https://www.k9-dog.training/otheritems.html
Disengagement from the environment and in turn having a good recall, needs your dog to have a desire for the reward they get for coming back to you. Building desire and drive for a toy is an excellent way to boost your dogs recall.
