Great friends!

Great friends!

Special shoutout to Patricia Thompson Saltos for being such a pawsome friend to us!

You know how, when you move, or close shop, you sort everything into "donate" and "trash" piles? Well, Patricia made the transition seamless for those member piles when we closed one of our Facebook groups that had become infested with harassers. So mindful. So demure. So thoughtful. So considerate.

Curious to see Patricia (who affectionately calls herself Ma and Fun Buster — how adorable!) and her special cohort we helped her acquire in action? Look no further than The Creep Squad. While it is apparently a secret group now, here is the link, courtesy of Facebook:

Patricia, you are most welcome. We are thrilled "those people" as you called them found a perfect fit in your group. Whether you are "chronicling" about your dogs (brings back memories of my old hashtag!), or your group is encouraging animal-abusing defamers and supporters, our rescue tribe will always be with The Creep Squad in spirit!

We will forever remember your "Make it quick, make it count! Happy Sunday, rescue furenz !!!!"

Ready for some hot tea? Buckle up, because this one is wild.

If you were in Shih Tzu groups around 2015-2018, you might recall the Lil Boo saga. A blind senior Shih Tzu and his owner became the focus of endless controversy when claims emerged from the owner that the dog had been in a life-or-death situation for years due to... glaucoma. Indeed, glaucoma.

The Tzu internet exploded. One camp —loud, relentless, and messy — believed the story. The other side called scam, fraud, and (yes, seriously) talked about involving the FBI. In the end, the little dog underwent bilateral enucleation thanks to donations, and while the story's origins remained dubious and murky, the owner did seem to love and provide genuine care for Lil Boo.

Who led the online crusade back then? Who were the loudest players in that meltdown?

1. JAMIE GREER

2. YVETTE FORSMAN

3. STEPHANIE COOKE BUIE

4. CHRISTINE ZAHORNACKY

and a few more.

Here is where it gets relevant: this same group somehow infiltrated our small rescue community. We knew their reputation, but could not predict the levels of toxicity they would bring. And let us tell you — they left chaos and harm in their wake.

There is SO MUCH more to this story, but we will spill that tomorrow. Because some people don’t grow, they just move their mess around.

CAROLINE HOGABOAM is a harasser.

CAROLINE HOGABOAM is a harasser.

CAROLINE HOGABOAM - harasser, bully, complicit in animal abuse

Read background : https://fb.watch/wwidPL95Rl/

Caroline Hogaboam - harasser who has had 3 unconsented contacts with me and the rescue. We have ignored her...She can get back on her tryke and pedal back to wherever she came from. We don't entertain trash beyond sharing what she commented last before we blocked her.

If you recognize her name, it is likely because she is that brainless jellyfish who is in every Shih Tzu group out there, liking posts mindlessly with hardly ever anything else to contribute. She "rescues" puppies from breeders.

Caroline is like a high-school bully or karen who thinks that if she comes and barks at us (all 3 times) on behalf of her other harasser friend who cannot write intelligibly, she will intimidate us. Perhaps she thinks she is talking to her girlfriend or the stray dogs from her neighborhood? That tone she uses surely cannot be meant for us here???

Check out her warped logic. In her view, I know the dog in question and should refrain from having an opinion about the morbid obesity of said dog. Never mind that I met that dog multiple times and saw that she was unable to walk and breathe properly. I weighed that dog at 22-23 #. It is an "opinion" in her expert view. She met that same dog too and joked constantly with the "loving" owner about the amount the dog ate. What does it say about her that she ignored or failed to recognize animal abuse, even when I was long out of the picture and she was still meeting that dog and the owner at RV parks? Mind you, during this time, the rescue and I were still receiving emails from that neglectful owner who fancied themselves an authority in dog care and nutrition among other things and pestered us month after month for this, that and the other.

What does Caroline say about any of that? Caroline has a problem ONLY with us exposing the hypocrisy of her animal-abusing friend who has continuously harassed us, not with the harassment itself or the harasser. We even believe she is the one who wrote the silly unsubstantiated cease and desist letter that detailed all that these people have been doing but attributed to us without providing a single proof. GOT IT.

Guess what, Caroline Hogaboam? You and that psychopath are both harassers and you do not get to decide how we feel and when we decide to move on. Did you ask your psychopathic friend to move on when she kept harassing us? When did you think she moved on? You both need mental evaluations for thinking you can do what you did and blame us. You do not get to tell us anything - before, now or ever. You both victimized us! SHAME ON YOU. You are complicit in stalking and harassment and animal abuse.

Let's talk about how we name our dogs (and cats).

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet."

True. However, we like to give each dog (and cat) who comes our way a first and last name (even a middle name at times) to capture their uniqueness — just like how, for us humans, our names symbolize our identity. Naming, in parallel, provides dignity and shows that these furbabies belong, in our opinion.

The first names we use reflect the characteristics and personalities of the babies, and personal preferences of foster parents. More often than not, they carry meaning. On occasion, we may decide to keep past names, or choose new ones that are somewhat reminiscent of previous ones. While it may not be immediately apparent, each name is carefully picked.

Last names reflect the origin of the little ones, and are not random. They indicate to us whether the dogs are owner turn-ins or shelter dogs, towns or states of origin etc.

We learned the naming protocol, as well as other valuable rescue practices, from well-established rescue(r)s, and adapted them to our specific needs over time.

Now, you know! ☘️💚

Lego Illinois approves this message. He is a smart boy who knows his rescue name (although he may be selectively deaf at times)!

Below: Ronan Ranger was rescued and transferred to us by our then-vet, and vetted and rehabilitated before being adopted. He is now at the Rainbow Bridge. His list of ailments was seemingly endless - orthopedic, heart murmur, sublingual cyst, blindness...Thankful that he experienced love and proper care in his latter years.
