Perfection! Quick tips for great barca grooming from my experience :

1) Post quarantine, keep in long tanks but water level not high. Depends on specimen, for example, a 15" specimen kept at a maximum water level of 18".
2) Feeding should consist primarily of insects and small frogs/tadpoles. Best fed with roaches, earthworms, frogs/tadpoles. Avoid market prawn and any seafood. Pellets can be given if fish is weaned onto it but live food should constitute atleast 50% of their diet. Feeding should be heavy infrequent meals rather than frequent small meals.
3) Despite the need to have watchable tanks, do not have bright and long duration lighting in your tanks.
4) Barca grows out in best shape when given a seasonal cycle. Hence it's advantageous to own a shaded outdoor pond as well as an indoor tank for Barca keepers. I keep my Barca atleast 3 months a year in shaded outdoor cement ponds with thick sand substrate. Feed frogs/tadpoles, earthworms and roaches during their pond stint. A mixed indoor/outdoor methodology is good for growth, colour, shape & overall health. This way you should see awesome results 😃.
