Happy Monday

There are many things we’d like to say but they seem to fall short to the message we’d like to impart. We will just say, words will never be enough to explain our gratitude of the support many of you have shown us this past year...Thank You!

However, this comes with an extremely heavy heart as we are closing our farm on October 1st and facilitating a sale.

Opening a business is never easy, many fail and we’re one of them. We had hoped to become your local farm. We had dreamed of one day assisting veterans find peace & purpose through farming, it’s just not in the cards this time.

We are grateful for the opportunity to have served you this past year. We are appreciative of the experience this has afforded us. We will continue to look at this as “feedback” and continue to grow.

Again, many many things we’d like to say but they seem to fall short of the message.

Short of it. We appreciate you. We thank you for the support. We love you.

Tell me you’re a container farmer, without telling me you’re a container farmer.

🤣🤣🤣

Our farm is a contained eco system, inside of shipping containers. We do everything in our power to only let in the “good stuff.” One of those precautions are farm shoes, shoes that have no been exposed to all the fun stuff we step on throughout our day.

We take pride in trying to grow the freshest, cleanest, nutrient dense, scrumdiddlyumptious tasting greens around.

Our quarterly farm share program (think csa) is now open for the 3rd Qtr.

This is a 10 week program with a at home/office delivery weekly. We have options ranging from full, half & lettuce only shares. You’ll receive anywhere between 8 items on the high end to 3 items on the low end (depending on selected option).

First delivery is scheduled to be July 12th. Will run until the last week in September.

Today is a day commonly viewed for its BBQ’d meats, it’s festive 🇺🇸 desserts and the ridiculousness that says it’s okay to wear white after today. However.

Being a husband & wife business, which both have served this great Country. We are charged to remind, to ask.

We want to send an heart felt “thank you” to Alex Durham and WLKY News for their coverage on our farm yesterday.

We believe in relationships and happened to run into Alex at the farmers market and she felt it was a story worth being told.

We are grateful to be doing what we do. Adding value to the already uber successful local farm scene found in our area. So many great farmers in our area doing fantastic things. From our organic farmers loving on our land the way it needs to be. To our urban farmers doing more with less to help eliminate food deserts and providing what should be a necessity, clean & healthy food. To our farmers taking an age old farming techniques found as far back as Babylon and the Aztec civilization. Through hydroponic & aquaponic farming, we’re attempting to grow more, on/with less resources to feed an ever expanding population. Only enhancing an already successful system.

This is what a healthy, local, small scale, sustainable agriculture ecosystem looks like and Kentucky is a great state for this movement.
We’re stoked to be a part of it.

We have all heard...

“It takes a village”

It takes a village to get through life. It also takes a village to raise kiddos and to run a business or farm successfully. This gentleman has been a part of our “village.”

Nathan Bellows has been one of many to offer any assistance when we’ve come calling. Nate is a family man, serves our country, a director on a nonprofit with me, a full time realtor and always says yes. He has helped us prep the site, setup the farm and today he helped with deliveries...in Lexington.

We appreciate him and everyone who has helped us along the way.

😍 Tatsoi (tat-soy?)

Tatsoi is an Asian variety of Brassica rapa grown for greens. Also called tat choy, it is closely related to the more familiar Bok Choy. It contains high levels of vitamin C, carotenoids, folic acid, calcium and potassium.

Listen to Food52 when they say, "Tatsoi is a very versatile green, equally suited to being served raw or lightly cooked. To make it easy, just use tatsoi anywhere you’d use spinach. Lightly steam or sauté it, wilt the leaves with a warm dressing, or add them to a soup at the end of cooking."

Honestly, it is easier today to purchase from your local community than ever before. Local farms are abundant in our area with numerous ways to purchase, farmers markets, online markets such as Market Wagon Louisville/Market Wagon Lexington, farm sites, farm stores, etc.

Local grocers, stay local. Don’t go after the “local” companies with the largest investors.

When we chose to go with the farms with the largest investments it negatively impacts the local farmers annnnd you end up with product like this. I suspect most local farmers would never let this make it to you or the grocer.

Today we are dropping a new recipe using our Rainbow Chard.

Chard is packed with Vitamins A, K, Iron. Great source of Fiber and Virtually Fat-Free. And because this recipe uses the entire plant, you are getting huge amounts of Phytochemicals...which I’m no scientist but its said to lower our risk for nearly all the diseases we do not want.
