🦴✨ A little over one year ago, Toby arrived at Rescue Unleashed with a shattered jaw and a quiet, aching spirit. He’d been through more than any dog should—but he hadn’t given up. Thanks to the extraordinary team at UC Davis, Toby underwent complex jaw surgery that gave him a second chance at life. 💛
Today, Toby is thriving. He had his 1 year post surgery scan and everything has healed well. He has bone growth all along his titanium plate. He can eat and drink and play. His tongue still goes sideways 😂 but that is part of his charm. He’s rediscovered his bark, his zoomies, and his love for fetch. His tail wags with joy, his eyes sparkle with mischief, and his heart is full.
From fragile to fearless, Toby’s journey is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the power of community. 🐾
💞To every donor, vet, volunteer, and cheerleader who stood by him—this smile is yours too. Thank you for believing in Toby. Thank you for helping him heal. 💫

Parvo puppy update ♥️ Thank you to everyone that donated
After Lou tested positive and started treatment it became very clear that all the puppies were likely going to need treatment and intensive care within in the next couple days and for a duration of time after. We had already spent $5,000 and that was only 2 puppies initial care.
Being a tiny rescue we are just not equipped physically or financially to provide what these pups need. It was becoming very overwhelming, quickly.
I reached out to our partners and thankfully they had space in their isolation wing. 🙏They agreed to take all 6 immediately and provide the medical care they need for however long they need. We are so grateful for this local support. ♥️
Now we can breathe easy knowing the pups have everything they need to make a successful recovery.

🔵Medical Monday🔵

We welcomed Gage to the PNW on Wednesday. It was clear to see this boy has been living rough for a while now. Missing most of his fur on his body, except his sweet face. His skin red and thickening “elephant skin” His ears smelled ye**ty and were dirty. And he was so,so thin.
After a few days of treating his ears and skin, feeding him regular healthy meals and him looking and feeling a little better, we took a look in his mouth….

I have never in all my rescues seen anything like it. All of his front teeth sheered down to the pulp. 😭Canines as well. It must be so painful…What life was he leading? Was he trying to break out of somewhere? Trying to eat something inedible? these are the moments I wish the rescues could tell their stories.
And as dogs constantly show me, he is resilient. Playing with the puppies, happy to give hugs and love to the people, all while he must be incredibly uncomfortable.
We have consulted with a vet and plan to have his teeth addressed, likely all removed, once his skin and weight are stable. We want the best chance for an easy recovery for him. He has had enough of struggle. ♥️
