Addie MY Heart. You will never be forgotten. I responded six years ago to a young lady who could not keep her nine-month-old AKC rough collie. I was able to adopt her with the idea of training her to serve another lucky person, but soon after that adoption, I realized how special she was. At first, the only thing Addie had on board was going potty outdoors and the security of her kennel.
I started by teaching her the name I was going to call her. Next came the rudimentary skills of Canine Good Citizen, which included sit, down, heal, and recall. Within a month, at ten months of age, she had her CGC title. Her willingness to learn and kind disposition quickly earned her a secure spot in my pack.
Addie has shown many behaviors that are second nature to her. She is very even-tempered and well-adjusted with all she meets. Her desire to learn is enviable at best. She has trailed me on my horse and shows promise of scent work.
The most notable attribute that Addie has given our family was when she delivered nine beautiful puppies from Titus, an SCPS stud owned by Denise Maher. Because of this union, I have developed a lifelong friend in Denise, but I also now have Lil Bitsey, who has accomplished so much, including an International Title.
I know many of you have given forever homes to some pups who were rehomed. Addie came into our home without knowing my life would be forever changed.
Addie is rarely acknowledged for how special she is. She is now a grandmother; however, the owner of the puppy I bred and raised rarely reaches out to me, nor has that person understood where her dog got many of its talents, which is unfortunate. I want to acknowledge Alexis Naomi Stroesser, who bred Addie, so perhaps people know a little about Addie.
Many dogs out there need a home and a second chance to show what they are capable of. Addie, you are never forgotten and will always have a special place in my heart.
