The break has been extended longer due to a broken wrist and opening the new training center. I will start again once I'm fully back on my feet.

Over the past year or so I've been saying 'we need to take a break' BUT there is always another dog in need of rehabilitation.

I've made the difficult decision to take an extended break. I will continue to support all the dogs that I've adopted out, if they need assistance in any way. But will not be taking on more dogs in the near future.

Thank you so much for your support with the dogs over the years. I couldn't have done it without you. 🥰🐾

Received an update from Missy's new family

I just wanted to let you know that Missy is so at home here and the 3 of them are getting along as though they have always been together.
She is an absolute joy to have join our family.

Just picked Missy up from Precious Paws Dog Grooming Thank for squeezing her in!

She smells so nice 🥰, looks sooo good and apparently was pretty good 😊 even with her ears!!

Missy has been adopted and will be starting the next chapter of her life on Saturday. We wanted to make sure she was looking & smelling her very best!

♡ Adopted ♡

HUGE thank you to everyone who advocated for this sweet girl. We have found an amazing family who have the love and lifestyle that fit with Missy's needs, including 2 resident spaniels around her age!!! Although it'll be sad to see her go, I'm grateful she's found a home to call her own with a great family 😊

Shout Out to 🐾 North Wellington Animal Hospital 🐾

As I was took Missy (rescue) into her appointment today, I started thinking about the history I have with NWAH.
It's been a few years since I started taking the rescue dogs there. I was impressed by their attention to detail and willingness to take the time to explain all the options, without judgment.
After a few visits I started taking our family pets there and couldn't be happier.

🥰Feeling so incredibly grateful right now ☯

Received an email from Kate @ 🐾 Bath & Biscuit 🐾 dog grooming in Durham, On.

They recently held a draw for $500 worth of Dog Grooming services for 2022. The winner decided to stay with their groomer of 13 years. Completely understandable. The ladies @ Bath & Biscuit so graciously decided to donate the prize to 🐾 A Voice for Dogs 🐾 rescue program.

I'm speechless (that doesn't happen too often LOL). Thank you so much Kate 💓. This frees up time and energy so I can continue to work on their training.

Age: 6 yrs old
Weight: 33 pds
Breed: Springer Spaniel (Blk and Wht)
Vaccines: Up to date, Spayed & microchipped

Favorite pastimes: fetch (Kong/ball) & tug-o-war with a rope toy

Missy was originally taken in from a hoarding situation in June 2021 and placed with a rescue that worked hard to get her ready for adoption. After just 4 weeks of being adopted she was returned. We took her in on September 3rd.

Missy loves food and will try to steal it at every possibility but will ‘leave’ or ‘drop’ when prompted. She is fully house and crate trained and can be found chewing a bone in her crate or lounging on the couch. She doesn’t show too much interest in our kitten but is curious when she runs and plays in the house. Missy is also living with 2 dogs with no issues. I have different dogs here regularly and there have been no issues. She hasn’t shown much interest in playing with them but coexists. If there are too many dogs playing and running around she will run with them and bark. Missy also loves the water!! Care needs to be taken as she will try to jump in and run through creeks. rivers etc... I don't know how good of a swimmer she is.

One of the cutest things Missy does is jump up and lie her head on your chest for head kisses and head rubs. She’s a love bug and loves affectionate, when she feels safe. She’s not much of a barker but will let you know if someone is at the door. She’s been good with meeting new people, with proper introductions. If she gets overexcited she will get a bit mouthy. She had a bit of separation anxiety when she first came but she seems fine now.

Her new family needs to be patient and give her the time to trust and get settled in. This could easily take 6-8 weeks to start to trust you. Once she does you’ll know and see her come out of her shell. She would do well in a quieter home with someone who’s home most of the time. A balanced dog or two and/or a cat would be nice of her. Missy also takes an allergy pill daily for her environmental allergies. She also gets anxious in the car. She has been showing a little improvement but would be best suited with someone who doesn’t travel.

Buddy's Update

It occurred to me that I hadn't posted Buddy's adoption. Sorry everyone.

He was adopted in early December and is starting to settle in nicely with his big brother.
He's now 45pds and expected to be about 90 🙂

Great morning for a walk with the dogs and friends. Buddy is doing great with the other dogs, exploring everything and his recall is coming along nicely with distractions distractions 😉

Buddy's spending some quality time with a couple of the day school dogs today as well as my personal dogs. He's learning how to play properly and be around different dogs 😊

Buddy will need someone who's willing to continue with his training and make sure he's a well mannered boy.

Our new guest, Buddy
Ready for adoption around Dec 7th (after his imprinting program)

Buddy is...
- 13 wks old today
- UTD w/vaccines including Rabies.
- Lab/ Mastiff X (he'll be a big boy)
- almost fully house trained
- sleeps through the night 11pm - 6:30am
- crate trained
- will have completed puppy imprinting
- exposure to cars but yhinks they are for chasing right now.

He's a very sweet boy 💖

Zeus Update

Working with one of our intakes, seeing how he interacts with other dogs, male children and other adults. He's shown that he can be selective with people and dogs so we needed to do more testing with him. With a slow transitional introduction, it went really well. It was nice to see him play with the the dogs and listen to the kids. There's still work to be done but it's nice to see him coming along. Thanks Kirsten, Cameron and Aiden and Piper :-) for taking the time out to help out with this big boy.
