So, I'm sure some of you are wondering... What is Doctor's Orders Pet Care all about. Well, DOPC's goal is to fill the gap between vets and pet sitters. Ok, So what does that mean? This means A Veterinary Technician goes the pet's home to administer treatment/ assess the pet and report that info back to the pets veterinarian. {For example, A patient is seen by their vet on Monday for congestive heart failure and trouble breathing. They are prescribed medication and requested to bring the pet back to recheck their SpO2 (oxygenation) levels; However, This patient gets very worked up any time they have to come for a vet visit. So, their veterinarian, contacts DOPC via referral, We contact the owner and go to the pet's house. At that time we measure the SPO2 levels,The Pulse/ heartrate, the Respiratory Rate, the CRT/MM response,Take the pet's Temperature and observe the pets Activity Level. We then Report those findings via email to the pet's referring veterinarian to continue treament recommendations}. We will also be caring for special needs pets while the owner's are out of town or unable to care for due to circumstances out of their control.
As of now, we are still in process of getting things finalized and hoping that come May 1st we will be able to begin taking refferals and routine vacation bookings

Filling the Gap between Vets and Petsitters

Our Founder, Markie Anderson, started working with animals at 15 years old. After Graduating High School in 2008, She went on to get her associate’s degree in veterinary technology and in 2010 began her career as a Veterinary Technician. Soon after she began pet sitting for friends, family and hospital clients. She quickly realized there were very few petsitters who could care for special needs pets properly. along with quite a number of clients who had difficulty adhering to veterinary recommendations for one reason or another. So, 10 years later (in 2020) she decided to launch Doctor’s Orders Pet Care ( Home Health Aide for Pets).

Markie’s personal pets currently include 3 Siberian Huskies and 1 cat. She enjoys showing her siberians, when able, and has even raised a litter of pups. Prior to owning the huskies, she has had pets who include a beagle who was diabetic and had disk disease, a boxer who had cancer and under went chemo, another boxer who under went palliative cancer care, A collie mix who she nursed back to health after ingesting battery acid, A boxer who was bitten by a snake multiple times, 2 cats who were declawed, along with nursing newborn orphaned puppies and kittens. Over the years she has petsat pets with thyroid conditions (both dogs and cats), multiple diabetics, multiple cats with renal disease, and a few pets with urinary issues , pets with allergies, along with all of the patients she’s cared for in clinic and overseas with World Vets (wound and routine care for horses in Nicaragua, and assisting the vets preform/recover small animal surgeries in Peru).
