Please share! Salthaven West’s clinic is bustling with over 65 patients and our phone is ringing off the hook! Spring is here and we already have many baby animals that need round the clock care. As our clinic gets busier, we have some important information:
➡️ Call the Salthaven West helpline BEFORE you intervene with wildlife that may be injured, sick, orphaned, or displaced. We’ll ask questions to understand the situation and provide instructions on how to safely contain the animal IF it requires care at our facility.
➡️ We may be busy with a patient when you call. If we don’t pick up or we’re on the other line, please leave a detailed message and we will get back to you ASAP!
➡️ NEVER provide food or water to wildlife that is injured, sick, orphaned, or displaced. Incorrect administration or the wrong diet could lead to serious or even fatal outcomes. We cannot overstate this.
➡️ Wildlife drop-offs are by appointment only. We cannot prepare if we don’t know you’re coming. Our small and mighty team consists mainly of volunteers who dedicate their time to helping wildlife in need. We are always working our hardest, and some days are incredibly busy for us. Please be patient and kind.
➡️ As a nonprofit we operate solely by donations. Your donations go a long way to helping save the hundreds of Saskatchewan wildlife patients that we get into our care each month. https://www.salthaven.org/make-a-donation
