Housetraining is a lot of work. Let me say that one more time - housetraining is a lot of work.😊

Here are a couple of tips to help make it easier:

Schedule = Stability = Saving your Sanity
When your puppy wakes up in the morning and after nap times take them outside. After they finish eating take them outside. You can make it easier on yourself by feeding your puppy at regular intervals. This gets them accustomed to putting their bodily functions on a set schedule too. If they are crate trained, take them outside as soon as you let them out. And just like with children, it's ok to withhold water several hours before bedtime to help reduce overnight accidents.

I know it's frustrating to find an accident but try not to punish a puppy after the fact. Try redirecting with a firm "No!" while taking them outside to finish. Punishment may create distrust early in the relationship.

Learn your puppy's signal for needing to go out. We received Rory and Rosie after they were housetrained but we still had to figure out their routine. Which in some ways might have been even harder since they were used to a different household. But now I know if Rory paces by the door, I need to let her out. Rosie who loves her humans will "disappear", so if she is off by herself she may be concentrating on holding it in.

Always praise a job well done. Don't be afraid to give ear rubs and treats for "going" outside. Reward good behavior right there on the spot to reinforce positive outcomes. Even if the intention was there, let them know they did a good job, we don't always make it ourselves, lol. Most importantly give it TIME and plenty of opportunities to practice, it's fundamental to training!

We are happy to report that all of the 1/30 puppies have found their forever homes. I don't know about you guys but I'm excited to watch these puppies grow. I'll be sharing updates on a couple of them a little later this week.

I share this video all the time! I think it's through and the real deal on caring for a French Bulldog.

Are Frenchies high maintenance? Aren't we all 😂 but are they awesome companion dogs? ABSOLUTELY. And once you have owned one you know their quirky personalities are the best.

I highly encourage families to research a dog breed before purchasing. Puppies are adorable but they are work.

Today I just want to say thanks to each of our family and friends for sharing our posts. Truly each share means a lot to me.

This week I had the chance to speak with French Bulldog breeders who have been in business for over 20 years each. The knowledge each one of them sent my way was so appreciated. They both told me that breeding is the easy part, dealing with people would be a challenge. I always thought this wouldn't be an issue as I've been in customer service for almost 25 years myself. But, and this is a big but, this is a whole different ball game.

Yesterday I spent no less than three hours of my time trying to prove that I was a "real person" and not someone trying to scam in various messages. I answered over 20 messages yesterday that didn't result in a sale. That's three hours away from my family in the middle of my daughter's 10th birthday weekend celebrations, and that's real to me.

The time spent away from my family is a trade off on a passion project. My full time job is in HR. You can find me doing my side gig at Feathered Farmstand , Frenchies have become a serious interest in the middle of all this. But my family knows if it's something that I care about I'm gonna go all in and do the best I can. And that's why each shared post means so much to me!

Vet appointment yesterday. ❤️ All pups received first shots and health screenings. The whole staff was awwwing at how cute and super sharp colors on this litter are.

Brutus officially weighed in at 8.4 pounds and Charlie at 5.4. The average weight was 6.4 pounds for this litter.

We have just 3 sweet boys left:

Feathered Bruiser - black and tan with white on forehead
Squirrelly Dan - black and tan

Are French Bulldogs good for first time owners?

Answer from Google - French Bulldogs are a good choice for first time owners. They require less exercise and grooming than larger breeds and most of the time are simple to train. They are an adaptable dog breed that will fit in with most owners.

My Honest Opinion - French Bulldogs are such an easy laid-back dog, they are a great choice for first time owners. They do require less exercise than more active breeds but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a daily short walk. Frenchies are prone to obesity, but a quick 20 mins through your neighborhood will help combat that! Grooming isn't bad but we do wipe jowls with a non scented baby wipe and need to wipe rear ends every once and a while.

They are very simple to train, with 6 pups we have them litter pan and puppy pad trained at 8 weeks. It will be an easy transition for outdoor potty breaks. Ours signal by waiting at the door if they need to go in between our scheduled outdoor time.

French Bulldogs are a very adaptable breed. We find them to be extremely easy going with our children but still protective. They will alert outside noise and stick by our youngest side. Beautiful dogs and great companions this breed is a total keeper for us!
