It took awhile but Ryker finally found a perfect new sister!!!! Her name is Shiva(pronounced Sheeva) and she will be turning 3 in a few months. Shiva needed a home and Ryker thought she was a perfect fit. We found her on a Florida Husky rescue page and thought she was perfect. She already knows all the basic commands to sit, speak, give her paw etc 😬. Fingers crossed that they become BFF’s and enjoy playing together. 👍🏻👏🏻😬. And yes, she does look very much like Dallas 😳. Thanks to Shiva’s previous owner who made the difficult decision to rehome her so she could live her best life!!!! 👏🏻👍🏻

A little bit of a bumpy night but we rode out the storm and avoided any major damage. Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers. Since we are all dog lovers I just wanted to share a quick story. Since our boy Dallas passed away I have always walked Ryker with Dallas’ leash. Usually after our last walk at night I have a habit of “wrapping” the leash around both doors handles. Doesn’t happen every night but like 50/50. I was checking the house this AM and found the wind had blown our front doors partially open despite the doors being locked. The only thing that kept them “somewhat” closed was Dallas’ leash!! That kept the wind and rain from getting in and even Ryker from possibly getting out. He usually sleeps in this room but I kept him in the bedroom last night. I guess I’d like to think Dallas was keeping an eye on us, and his buddy Ryker during the storm. We sure do miss his daily nonsense. I was able to properly secure the door to prevent this from happening in the future.

If there is one thing Ryker hates it’s water. He hates the rain, he won’t go near our pool, he avoids stepping in any water on our walks, despite the Florida heat he will walk well out of his way to avoid sprinklers etc. He also hates the thunder….The first pic below was me explaining to him that we are gonna ride out whatever we get from this hurricane at home. I told him to expect a lot of rain and thunder….The second pic was his immediate reaction to this information 🙄😂. Thankfully, the storm has moved further west which means which we shouldn’t get too much of it, just some wind and rain. The worst will be overnight between midnight and 6 AM. I did have him pack a “to go” bag just in case, but he only filled it with treats 🙄.

National dog day????? How did Ryker spend his??? Woke up in our bed, took a long walk, took a nap on his moms couch, ate breakfast, took a nap on his recliner, fell asleep in the jeep while making an airport run, guarded his dog treat but refused to eat it, came home and had a McDonalds hamburger, back to the recliner to watch the ND game with his dad, another walk and then retired to the king sized bed after an exhausting day 🙄😂…it’s not easy being him lately ☝🏻😂 we love him and spoil him!!!! Oh, I forgot he also had dog ice cream in bed 🙄🙄🙄…..

Someone had a great spa day today @ Amanda’s Pet Salon!!!!! He looks so handsome after his bath, haircut, brush, pedicure, and even a splash or two of dog cologne 🙄😂. Then he was treated to his favorite food, McDonalds hamburger without onions or pickles(and few fries). I mean he can’t have onion breath while trying to pick up the ladies after his spa day. He is certainly not a fan of the booming Florida thunder, but other than that he seems to really love his Florida life. But no, he still won’t go near our pool. He was becoming impatient waiting to dig into his hamburger and let out a loud husky howl to speed things along. …

2 years ago Ryker’s life was saved by Hillary Egan and Friends of Faye. To celebrate I took my boy along to a pool party today at a friends house. He dined on a few hamburgers fresh off the grill and managed to work the crowd(while I wasn’t looking) to mooch some cookies and other snacks. He never ventured to close to the pool and enjoyed staying in the air conditioned house while observing everything thru the glass sliding doors 🙄😂. It was a very short ride home but he struggled to stay awake as shown in the final pic 😴😂. Now he is out cold sleeping at my feet. Thanks again to Hillary and Friends of Faye for saving him and bringing him to us, we are so grateful as I am sure he is 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻😬🐶🐶🐶.the

Although he doesn’t seem it, Ryker is very excited for the holiday weekend 🙄😂. I guess he is just thinking about his weekend plans, or maybe he is dreaming of another McDonalds hamburger like the one he just finished 🤷‍♂️. Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend from Ryker!!!!

Ryker is still living the dream ….we haven’t been able to get him to get up the courage to get in the pool yet, but with the hot weather arriving maybe soon he will take his first dip!!! He’s been out to lunch with us, had ice cream in bed, taken some long walks, and often does his favorite thing of all….napping 🙄😂. He really is the lowest maintenance husky we have ever owned. We are planning a vacation soon and taking Ryker along for the trip. We also still always have our eyes open for just the right brother for him at some point…Thanks to all who still follow his journey and everyone who helped save our fav guy 👏🏻👍🏻.

O’Ryker is excited and ready to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day!!! He celebrated a little early with some Pup ice cream in bed. He does NOT like to be bothered while eating his ice cream 🙄😂. With that being said, after all he has been thru, he does NOT have a single mean bone his body. Since the day we adopted him he has never growled or snapped at us or anyone. He really is such an amazing dog. Ryker said his followers should get their Irish on and enjoy St. Paddy’s Day tomorrow!!!☘️☘️☘️

Somebody enjoyed a “spa” day yesterday and had a bath, haircut, and his nails trimmed. Now he’s looking all dapper for the ladies, and worn out from his spa day 🙄😬😂🌴. He still hasn’t worked up the courage to take a dip in the pool…..yet ☝🏻

What’s Ryker been up to??? We have been doing some exploring of some great trails we found and he’s been checking out the birds, turtles, etc…thankfully we haven’t crossed paths with a gator 🐊 yet…..some days he debates taking a dip in the pool but he hasn’t taken the plunge yet….He claimed his spot on his moms brand new couch and she wasn’t too happy but it’s his spot now 😂. Naps and following me EVERY single place I go appear to be his fav things 🙄😂. He is loving the Florida life….but we will see how much he loves the summer months 😳.

Last year we still had our boy Dallas with us and we had Ryker for just under 2 months. I was thinking today about how far Ryker has come in his survival/recovery and he wouldn’t even be here today if it wasn’t for Hillary Egan and her amazing dog rescue Friends of Faye. Hillary and her friends are constantly rescuing and saving dogs that are near death, handicapped, or have other various health ailments. I can’t imagine the time, effort, sacrifice, and personal money they spend to help these animals in need. Donna and I decided that for Xmas we would make a donation to their awesome rescue in memory of our boy Dallas. So many people from all over the world have followed Rykers journey thru this page. We are all dog lovers!!! If possible, I am asking that as many of you who can make a Xmas donation, no matter how small, to assist Hillary and her wonderful helpers at Friends of Faye. Instead of just liking this post etc let’s try to help those who are actually doing the hardwork, making the difficult decisions, shedding their own countless tears trying to help these poor dogs. Our donations as a group might be the difference between life and death for the next dog, the next Ryker. Again, no donation is too small!!! Let’s spread some holiday cheer and try to make a difference and save a few dogs!!! On Tuesday we took Ryker along on our shopping trip which included a stop for a new mattress. We met employee, Paula Deford, who was so nice to Ryker. We told her about Ryker’s story/journey and she even began to follow Ryker on this page. Earlier today Donna and I returned to the store to pick up our mattress and we were very surprised and thankful to be given this huge box of treats for Ryker!!! They even wrote his name and ”our friend Ryker” on the box. Thank you so much Paula!!! Ryker continues to touch people and his story that we often tell allows us to advocate to others to rescue/save all dogs in need. Rykers amazing personality and his ability to make friends with everyone also allows us to help him advocate for rescue. Thanks so much Paula, from Donna and I and of course from Ryker as well!!! 👍🏻👏🏻 As always thanks again to Hillary for saving and caring for Ryker and getting him to us!!!

We took this guy along Xmas shopping with us today and tired him out. Petco, mattress shopping(he had a say in the mattress selection since he sleeps in our bed 🙄), several other stops, lunch along the water, and then finally home where he spent some time with his friend “lamb chop” before climbing into his own bed and calling it a day.

Ryker got lucky enough to meet Santa while out and about in Fla today 👍🏻. Not sure what he told Santa he wants for Xmas….maybe another brother to keep him company 😳🤷‍♂️😬.

Rykers current adventure lol…We took him to a nice hotel in downtown Tampa and brought him along on all our excursions including the Tampa riverwalk. Most of the restaurants are very dog friendly and bring him his own bowl of ice water as soon as we arrive. He is exhausted from all the walking 🙄😂. So far he has enjoyed pizza, French fries, some hamburger, ice cream at 2 different restaurants, and some pasta . He took his first elevator ride and posed for a fashion pic with his mom as we checked in. We have a large balcony and he loves looking down on the water, boats, and people below. He even attended his first happy hour with us 🍺!! He heads right for the bed or a nap on the couch as soon as we get back to our room lol. We are very careful to make sure he is not in the heat for any long periods and we bring plenty of a water and his travel bowl everywhere we go. We are all still missing Dallas but we always walk Ryker with Dallas’ leash so a part of him is with us. 2 days ofTampa has our boy worn out lol.

We are really hurting and missing our boy Dallas so we decided to get out of the house and take Ryker to lunch lol. We found a dog friendly restaurant on the water and he loved it!!! Of course he had to take a 💩 while we were there 🙄🤬😂. Great place and they even had a dog menu!!! He is officially my shadow. He follows me to every single room I go into at the house lol…and I mean every room, every time 😂.

It’s been 1 year today that we adopted Ryker. I wish I was posting good news but instead I am posting heart broken. Our boy Dallas absorbed blow after blow but Friday evening he suffered a cluster of severe seizures. We rushed him to an emergency vet and he received excellent care. Unfortunately, a few hours ago, we made the decision to let him rest. He was not recovering as we had hoped and it was time. We are absolutely heartbroken to say goodbye to Dallas. He taught Ryker sooooo much in their year together…He taught him how to be a husky, how to play fight, how to jump up and sleep in our bed, how to get treats from us, and how to show us love. I have had dogs my whole life but Dallas was always “my dog” the “one”. He was constantly being a clown 🤡 and making me laugh, constantly….we are heartbroken 💔. “ But if this hurt is the cost of the transaction, of being on the receiving end of Dallas’ loyalty, laughs, and love, then I’d pay it every time with immense gratitude. Cause even tho we are crying we are so happy that he was ours and that we were his. I held Dallas tight, looked in his eyes, and whispered in his ear as he took his last breaths and I let him know that his heart and soul will always live in mine” Goodbye to our sweet boy…you will be missed beyond words by me, Donna, and Ryker. We love you!!! Just FYI we rescued Dallas approx 12 years ago after he was found wandering a street somewhere in Pa. The pic of them walking together was just taken Friday morning.

Sooooo…after arriving from Texas last October we learned quickly that Ryker was not a fan of the snow lol….He begged us all summer to get him away before winter came again. Eventually he began packing his bones, treats, and toys and was preparing to make a move by himself lol…So we figured we better join him and we all made the move to Florida!!!! We arrived just before the hurricane which thankfully stayed just south of us…So far Dallas and Ryker are loving their new lives in Fla. As you can see by the below pic he doesn’t like to be told to move when he chooses to lay right in the middle of a co****le game 🙄😂. He loves laying out by the pool and napping there as well. He hasn’t mustered up the courage to try the pool yet but Dallas ventured too close twice and ended up going for a quick swim. I will try to keep posting more updates on Rykers new Florida life…Dallas is doing well also!!!

The boys sleeping back to back in bed. A shot of Dallas relaxing on the deck couch and one of Ryker relaxing with his head propped up against the leg of the chair 🙄😂. Dallas has been sick again but he is home from the vet and seems to be on the mend again 😬👏🏻. He sure is a fighter!!! Ryker has a new routine where he “patrols” the fence along the entire length of our yard. He slowly walks the fence line while sniffing the ground and occasionally being nosey and trying to look thru the fence lol.

Living the dream in his favorite spot on the couch. Recently he has become my shadow and follows me EVERYWHERE I go… room to room, inside to outside, and when I leave through the garage he lays in the grass outside the garage and waits till I come home 🤷‍♂️😂. Tonight he crushed some dog ice cream before following me upstairs to the bedroom where he makes himself at home on the bed 😂. Dallas is still doing well also for those who have been following his health issues 👍🏻😬.

A few weeks ago Dallas basically had his two front paws across the Rainbow Bridge!!! Thankfully, a last second big rally is what kept him with us. We are certainly happy, but not nearly as happy as Ryker is, to have Dallas at home and improving slowly each day. I never thought I would have the opportunity to walk them both together again but here is the proof I was wrong. He may be on borrowed time but we are so thankful for each day we have with him. Now if he could just get back his amazing wolf like howl ☝🏻😬👍🏻🙏🏻🙌.

Ryker has claimed his spot on the deck for the summer season ☝🏻. He loves laying there while keeping his eyes on the yard for any animal intruders 🙄😂. His brother Dallas is having a few medical problems but we are keeping our fingers crossed 🤞 for him. Dallas certainly has shown Ryker the ropes about life here, how to play together, and so many other things that Ryker wasn’t sure of while he adjusted to his new life. After all he had been thru Ryker still does not have a single mean bone is his body 👍🏻🙏🏻. He is such a great dog. Thanks again Hillary for saving his life and giving him a second chance.
