It has been overwhelming to see the kindness and caring of so many people who have responded to Tootles passing. It means so much! I've received so much love from friends, family and my other precious dogs. Here are Muffy and Kipper who have given me lots of snuggles and they also miss their best play buddy. Sending gratitude!
Thank you everyone who sent prayers up for precious little Tootles! Sometimes prayers are not answered the way we want but last night it became quite obvious that her decline was causing her great pain. I may never know what all was going on with her little body but her veterinarian and I tried everything we could to help her rally. She would cry if I literally was not walking around with her. It was obvious that the prayer for her was the gift of setting her free from her pain. That precious feisty girl being consumed by pain was beyond horrible. Tootles health issues were a reflection of the irresponsible puppy mill industry that breeds dogs that have health issues like her liver shunt and her wonky little legs etc.It was a gift for me to have her in my family as there was never a boring moment when she was around. Thanks to everyone here for being a part of her life! Her canine Family members will miss how much she played with them all. I'm going to post several pictures and videos that represent this special girl. It's going to be weird walking around my house without her attached to my pants. We lost our Schnauzer boy, Sammy, in April and I'm sure they are running free and happy over that rainbow bridge. My heart is truly breaking but I know the memories will be mostly full of laughter. I'm forever grateful to national mill dog rescue for saving her and for giving her the necessary liver surgery that gave her these last year's of feeling great. I was the adoption manager when she was rescued and I got a call about this Maltese that needed a staff of six because she was so demanding. Never did I realize that would be me and my other dogs. I know she wrapped her way around many peoples hearts. Here's to the love we get from our Canine family members! Rest in peace my angel!
Tootles is having a very hard time pulling out of her weakness. We are trying everything to help her to become her happy joyful self again. She could use your prayers. Her brother, Harry, often sits beside her and I know it gives her comfort. Thanks! Tootles mom.
For the first time in many days, I felt like basking in the sun and going down to the pond. I scared my mom because I'm still very wobbly. She watches me like a hawk but I like that too. Do you see the big Koi?
Thank you all! The vet called mom and said I didn't have Pancreatitis. Whew! She thinks it is probably gastritis. I sure don't feel good but mom is watching me very closely and helps me if I whine just a little. I hate feeling so bad. Sleeping seems to help me the most so I'm going back to sleep. Thanks and keep the prayers coming because I still can barely walk and ........
Tootles spent the weekend in my lap under the heating pad and is quite miserable when she tries to walk or even stand. We have a vet appointment today but she sure could use prayers, positive energy and good thoughts.
I haven't been feeling very good because of my hurt leg. Kipper loves playing with me and doesn't understand why I can't play. One video is kipper trying to get me to play. Mom told him I couldn't play so he then started licking my ear. It was slobbery but made me feel loved? ❤️ sorry it is so dark.......🐾🐾🐾
Happy Easter from the Tootles Bunny!
My silly, snuggly, funny, playful brother Sammy crossed the Rainbow bridge tonight in his sleep. Mama says he had a bad heart condition for 3 years and we were so lucky he felt good and was so happy. I'm especially going to miss snuggling with him...... National Mill Dog Rescue saved him in 2007. I'll miss you,Sammy!
I'm still having problems with my right shoulder and elbow. I've had acupuncture, daily heat and massages, herbs and rest. I had X-rays that show nothing is broken but I do have joint issues. I have liver disease (liver shunts) and have to be careful what I can take. My vet is helping a lot and I started grabbing mom's pants again today and feel a bit better. Mom says I have to stop so I don't get hurt again and to take it easy. Well..... I'll try.
Mom is keeping me quite to help my shoulder heal so I've been snuggling all day! I love snuggling and getting all this loving and sweet talk.
I was stepped on by one of my doggie family members and now I have a hurt muscle. Mom is glad that it wasn't worse and said I shouldn't grab the bottom of her pants when she comes home because I don't pay attention to the other dogs. She is putting heat on it and giving me a nice massage. I have a yucky herb that helps too. Here is me walking with my sore muscle.
Sammy and I like to help mom work on her computer.
Wow! This was before my surgery in March 2013.
My mom gives me choices when I eat. It is because of my liver shunt. I sometimes have a hard time because food can make me feel yucky when the toxins are dumped in my system. She was happy tonight because I was eating so well.
Sammy and I have been beautified. I was a pretty good girl too........ mom was proud of me.
Mom has been calling me a scruffy muffin lately. That will change today because I'm getting beautified. We all are so this house will look and smell great tonight.
This is so sad because these dogs were from a hoarder. They ate only oats and a powdered baby food and had dog food for the first time when rescued. My mom was there to document the dogs. You can see her writing all the info and today she will intake them. Wow!
Here is a look behind the scenes as our new residents are checked in after an emergency rescue. National Mill Dog Rescue worked with local law enforcement and the Department of Agriculture in another state to get these dogs out of a hoarding situation and bring them home to Lily's Haven. They are now warm, safe, and have plenty of food and fresh water ... and LOTS of love.

I have snuggled with my mom a lot today. She loves me and my canine brothers and sisters. She also loves all the other dogs she helps to rescue.
What a great way to show your love!

Thank you!
Sammy, Muffy and I are getting ready to support the Falcons in the Super Bowl. We are wearing our red and black, in case you didn't notice. Our mom grew up in Atlanta and she is excited. The second picture shows me getting ready for defensive moves.
I like this!
My mom was gone for 3 weeks and when she got home, I grabbed her pants and didn't want to let go.
My mom has been out of town but says she misses all our shenanigans. She comes home soon and we are so glad but we have loved having our friend stay with us too. We have been on our best behavior. She thinks it is special (it is) that I pull on her pants just like I do to mom.

Yes it is. Thanks Red and Howling!

Celebrating my 5th birthday! Yippee! I have a liver shunt and I'm so grateful that I still feel good! Mom is very strict with my diet and meds so I guess that is good. I'll be celebrating my birthday later with Theresa Strader who rescued me! We have the same birthday!
Happy Thanksgiving all! My mom says my dress looks like Turkey feathers. I'm having fun today with my canine siblings.
My mom is sorry she hasn't posted much about me lately. We do love this video of my favorite playmate and sister Muffy. She is so funny with her silly smile while playing with our Uncle Thom.
My canine brother, Kipper, loves staying in bed. Mom has to encourage him everyday to get up for breakfast. I thought you might enjoy this. Here he is. He is very sweet!
I get very excited when mom comes home. Mom had been helping welcome new rescued dogs all day. My Uncle Thom picked me up so mom could get in the door before I grabbed her pants and continued my celebration.
