I've been meaning to create a kennel page for a long time. I came up with "Kanicula" as my hopefully-someday future kennel name several years ago. Now that our first litter has been born, it seems like a good time to actually start this page.
So, a brief (oh, who am I kidding) intro...
My family has had Cardigans since 2013 when we brought home Oscar, Belukha's Wilde Tale CA CGC TKN. Oscar wasn't just my first Cardigan, he was my first dog. He inspired my love for the breed and desire to learn everything I could about all things canine, and Cardigan in particular. In 2014 we added Oscar's nephew Merlin to the family. Merlin is GCH Nicholar's Wizard of Wales Tails HT FDC CA BCAT TKN. I brought Merlin with me to the CWCCA National Specialties in 2017 and 2018, where I got to meet many amazing Cardigans and their people. Sadly, 2018 is also the year we lost Oscar to a tragic accident.
In 2020, Kora joined the family. She is (major pointed) Geran's Garden Goddess at Nicholar FDC TKN VHMP.
It has long been my hope that I could one day begin my own small breeding program with Merlin as the foundation. Merlin came from a beautiful litter of eight, and their pedigree contains several lovely Cardigans who exist nowhere else in breed's gene pool. After his sisters Gabby and Duchess unfortunately did not have puppies of their own, it fell to Merlin to carry on his family's line.
Merlin and Kora welcomed 5 beautiful puppies into the world on July 26, 2022. The litter is a co-breeding between myself and my friend and mentor Sharon, Merlin's breeder and co-owner of both him and Kora.
The puppies are all spoken for at this time. My intention is to use this page for updates on the dogs and puppies here at our home in Alaska.
