NPIP. Our 2023 testing is on 11/6. They can leave after that.
Please note, they have been outside, and are molting, so theyâre a mess right now.
Photos are old! Updated photos to come. Buffs & black were only 3 months old in the photo.
The puppyâs favorite game? Poke the bear. Or more appropriately, lick the bear. đ đťđ¤Ł
The mineral buffet is almost ready to go up in the adult goat shed. Kid buffets are also in process.
Ricotta for lasagna next weekâ itâs a wonderful use for whey!
Cream cheese for pieâfirst attempt, I used MM100 starter. Buttermilk starter should be here this week, Iâm curious to see if the taste difference will be noticeable.
Todayâs goat milk project. Caramel sauce, and maple caramel sauce. The latter is made using our own maple syrup. đ
Goat cheese parmesan soaking in the brine.
Cheddar is drying, now to start the Parmesan!
Pretty accurate description of our house this morning. đ¤Śđźââď¸ đ¤˘ The designers of these things must not have petsâor theyâd make them come apart like legos, and dishwasher safe!
Clearing has started for the new barn. Construction will begin in the Spring. đ
Suspected it was Kir (aka Trouble) who opened the gate for the all night raves of late. I bet her party trick is tying cherry stems into knots with her tongue. đđ
Fernie is turning out to be a mini-me of her dam, CA BlackBerryâs WP Katmai. Long, level, and wide. She could use more neck, but it occurs to me, looking at her from the sideâthere could be a little more neck hiding under all that padding. đ 6 months old, almost 80 pounds.
It was a lovely day to take the little girls on a walk. They couldnât get enough of the potato chips (dried leaves lol)!
A few days shy of 6 months old. â¤ď¸
I do believe this is what some might consider âover conditionedâ. Here, we like to think of it as more to love.𼰠Never thought weâd have âfatâ Nubians, but look at us overachieving LOL.
Taking a walk in the yard with the goats today. The boys say theyâll take head scratches over food every time! đĽ°
One lone goat who never makes a sound, outside in the dark, calling out for the boys all (seriously, ALL) night long. I finally paid Miss Barbie a visit at 3am to explain how proper, good girls should behave. Well, that lasted a hot 5 minutes.đ¤Śđźââď¸
Happy fall, yâall! đđđ
Goshen, NH. PM to setup a pickup time.
We are swimming in goat milk! Raw milk from our Nubian girls. No goaty flavor, high butterfat, very creamy.
$12 - 5L bag. Our easy pour milk bags are freezable.
Big day on the farmâ Dr. Lauren from
Henniker Vetrinary Clinic examined our
17 goats, and vaccinated them against rabies. Clean bill of health for all, and perfect Famacha scores. (Yay!) Shots for a little dog, and a couple of cats, too. Weâre all exhausted!
N.Haverhill show. Thanks to Bri at Foxâs Pride for the photos! We were very pleased with how well our kids did their first time out.
NH Funny Farm FPI Lady Fern (Fern)
(CA Blackberry WP Katmai x Foxâs Pride GWâs Inferno)
4th place under the first judge, 2nd place under the second judge, 0-4 months
NH Funny Farm BT Firefly Flare (Bug)
(Foxâs Pride TM Sparks in the Dark x Begleyâs-Troubled-Acre Totem)
? 1st judge, 3rd place under the second judge, 0-4 months
Lots of Black Trumpet mushrooms out there!
Does anyone happen to be going, or know someone going to the Farmington ME goat show 9/21? I have a milk stand that needs a ride from there to NH or NE MA.
Bee, my sonâs Boston, came to stay for a few days. (Far right.) He was excellent with the goats and chickens, and with puppy Dixie too. The dogs ran and played all day, everyday. They should sleep for a week!
This is Kir. Kir is our monkey face, earless goat. (Lamancha) Kir doesnât believe in boundaries, particularly when it comes to food. Kir, jumps out of her pen over and over and over, especially while weâre milking. Kir is the reason the kid pen canât have any climbing toys or hay feedersâaka launching pads, inside the pens. Kir is also the reason our kid pen fencing is reaching zoo heights. Kir is a very bad goat.
See the Nubian kids in the background? Notice the look of awe on their faces. Jumping out of the pen has never occurred to them. They arenât quite sure that itâs allowed, or that itâs even a good idea. So, they stay put. Bug, Screech and Fern are very good goats.
How can something so orneryâbe so freaking cute?! 𤣠Love that goofy girl.
Exciting day for the milking girls⌠A fresh batch of 2nd cut alfalfa!
We had a great day at the N. Haverhill NH show today! Fern (4mths), Bug (3mths), Surprise (2yrs), and Sparky (2yrs) had top 5 placings, with Fern and Bug 2nd and 3rd in the last round of judging. Not so bad considering it was only our (and their) 2nd show ever!
Thanks to the judges, the kind young woman who handled our 3rd goat in the 2 year old classes, and the Fox's Pride Dairy Goats family for all of their help and supportâespecially the kiddos for entertaining 3 dogs and a puppyâwho would have been terribly bored, if not for them!
Not so fun coming home to find the goat shed gate unlatched, and all of the new fruit trees on their side and girdled by goats. They also ate my hydrangea, and finished off a tiny bit of shredded beet in the garage while
on their bender. So far all is okay. Hopefully they will be none the worse for the wear come morning.
Beware of this scamâŚThis page tags your page in a post. It shows up for you to review. If you click on the link, it takes you to a redirected pageânot a FB page. There they want you to click on another link, probably a phishing scam. (I didnât go further to investigate)
If you get a âmessageâ saying your page is restrictedâmake sure it isnât just someone tagging you in a post. If it is, block and report them!
For those who donât have a Vet for goat fecals, there are good mail in options. We do have a Vet, but they werenât sure a Baermann Test had been run on Luckyâs sample. I decided to try a mail-in labâI used https://meadowmistlabservice.com/ and was happy with their service. The results matched both mine, and our Vetâs for Lucky. (Not Lucy, but that would be a great goat name! LOL) Itâs a great option for those needing to check their herdâs worm counts, but no access to a Vet.
Hantop 6L Milking MachineâRechargeable. đ˛1ď¸âŁ2ď¸âŁ5ď¸âŁ
Used only once, itâs as good as new. Pulsating machine with adjustable suction/speed. The cups should work great for Nigerians or other smaller goats. They worked on our Nubians, but I wouldâve liked them to fit closer to the udder.
Hantop 6L Goat Milking Machine, Rechargeable Battery Powered Speed Adjustable Pulsating Vacuum Pump, 304 Stainless Steel Milk Bucket with Auto Stop Check Valve Goat Milker Machine (Pro Model) https://a.co/d/4HRjjd5
The goats got a new ride today!
Tattoo day + a scrape on the head = Looking like you got hit with a tie dye tshirt. 𤣠Poor Bug. The harder I try to be neat, the bigger mess I make when tattooing. đ¤Śđźââď¸
Shaving goats can be like a box of chocolates, you never know what youâll get! Mocha hiding under all that black fur, now her body matches her face stripe.
3 1/2 month old keeper doe, Fern. There is a lot to like about this girlâbut I think we know who has been winning the race at the milk bucket. đ¤Ł
Goshen, NH
3 year old India Blue Peac**k available.
He and our other IB male fertilized 100% of the eggs our girls laid the past two years. Theyâre starting to drop their tail feathers, so breeding season is over for the year.
Not mean/aggressive at all, but not sit on your lap tame either. He will occasionally take blueberries from your hand when offered.
Never been housed with chickens. Heâs also never been free ranged.
We are rehoming him to make room for other colors to join the flock. Peafowl can be noisy, roam for miles, and be destructiveâplease do your research beforehand, they may or may not be the right fit for your property.
In only 2 weeks, UltraCruz Show & Wellness has done what BOSS, Replamin, and Zinc couldnât do in 3 months. The shine in their coat is amazing! UC S&W is pricey, but it seems to be exactly what our girls needed. If only theyâd get a job to help out with buying all their extras. đ¤Ł
There is a before/after pic of Skip because she has the most dramatic change, and she hasnât been shaved down.
Orion (NH Funny Farm BT Orions Ember) is the only buckling we kept from our breedings this year. We couldnât be more pleased with how he is turning out! Bittersweet day, this was his last walk with the girls. He moved in with the older bucklings tonight. They grow up too fast. đ
We are looking for a part time farm helper!
