Introducing "Forever My Finnigan" (Finn) to the Heartsong family. This handsome little devil is a CKC registered blue merle Moyen Poodle and will grow to be about 30lbs. If his health testing goes as expected, we hope to breed him to our beautiful Miss Maple.

Happiest of Birthdays to our beautiful Heartsong litter! I can't believe how much they have grown and all of the amazing families who have welcomed them into their homes and hearts.

It's official! These beautiful babies are 10 months old!!! I have to say, every time I search through my phone and come across pictures of them, I get a little weepy. Even though it was a ton of work, I miss them. 😍😭🥰

Puppy Packs!

As much as I would like to surprise you all with what's inside, I figured it is best to have you see it so you don't double up on some things

This is what I have in your packs right now. I will also be adding some of the litter, a couple of puppy pads (though I haven't used them in a couple of weeks, they are handy to have) and maybe more toys if I can get into the store. I do have a detangling spray on order as well, but there was a shipping problem and I had to reorder. Hopefully it's here in time 🤞.

Food! I debated a lot on what to feed these little ones (and Rosie during the last part of her pregnancy and while she was nursing). In the end, after researching on a Facebook group run by veterinarians, I opted for Purina One. I am not, by any means, insisting that you keep your puppy on this brand. I would much rather you choose what you feel comfortable with, whether that is what the vet suggests or your preferred brand. I am supplying a small bag for you to transition, or so you can easily find more. It can be bought at Walmart and most pet stores.

The only thing I will say is that there is a big push now for a "raw food diet". Many people suggest that it goes back to their natural diet etc. But it is incredibly difficult to properly balance all of the nutritional needs. Sure they might eat raw meat in the wild, but they also won't live to be 15, 16, 17 years old. The majority of vets that I have seen DO NOT suggest it, so I will pass that on to you.

If you decide to change their food, please do so slowly. Like snail pace 😂. Start off with a day of 99% their old food and a couple of pieces of the new one. Gradually increase new/decrease old over at least 4 days, preferably a week. If they are switched too quickly, they could get diarrhea and vomitting, and we don't want that.

Keep this in mind for treats as well. I know you will be excited to spoil your new friend, but the safest thing is to use their kibble as treats and then you can gradually introduce training treats. I will be supplying some, but the dehydrated liver treats are also spectacular for training and don't have any other ingredients.

Litter Training! It's been fun 😂. These little babies are actually really smart! When they were a little over 2 weeks I introduced the litter boxes. As soon as they woke up, I popped then into the litter where they peed immediately! After just a couple of days, they had caught on. At this point they are probably 90% trained. The other 10% is either they didn't want to use it, or, more likely, it was already occupied by too many tooshies. There are also several "close but no cigar" moments where their feet are in the litter box but their bums are just over the edge 🤣. But hey, they get points for trying.

This is the set up that I have been using. I will be sending them home with some of the litter, but it might be helpful for you to grab a bag for yourself. I have just been using wood pellets for heating. You can also buy pine pellets at local feed stores, but ours has been out for a while now.

The boot mats are just from Walmart, but any mat with at least 3/4" depth will work. I have even heard of small animal cage bottom being used, which is likely less messy.

My hope is that if you set up something like this near your door or in their pen if you plan on starting in a playpen, then you can transition them outside in a week or so by putting the boot mat outside and showing them where it is. If you watch close enough, you should see them head to the door the ask to go out.

We trained Rosie using a bell because she wouldn't make any noise when she asked to go out. She would just sit there and hope you noticed. So we trained her by hanging a bell on the door and every time we took her outside (when she woke up and after she ate her food) we would gently tap her nose on the bell to make it ring and then go out right away. This might be a good way to have your puppy ask to go out, either using the litter box method, or skipping it altogether.

Hello new families! I just wanted to share this little checklist with all of you. The ones that are checked off are in your puppy packs as well as some treats, toys, and a blanket. But you can't have too many treats and toys!

The following are not on the list, but are definitely advisable 😊

1. A boot mat. Why??? I have been litter training the puppies on a boot mat with wood pellets. I will go into further details on that in another post 😊
2. Harness
3. Food if you plan on changing brands.
4. Small travel crate for the trip home.
5. Antibacterial wipes.
6. SpotShot stain remover or oxyclean.
7. Rope toys... I am providing one, but they are great for teething. You can wet them and freeze them to sooth sore gums. You can also put toothpaste on them and have them brush their own teeth 😉

I'm sure I will think up a few more things, but this is a great start!

For those new to the group, I will share all of the information to make it easier...

The puppies were born on October 23 of this year.

Rosie (mom) is a purebred, CKC registered red and white Brittany Spaniel. She has been genetically health tested to ensure that there are no serious health defects that she can pass on.
R***r (dad) is a purebred CKC registered Sable Parti Standard Poodle. He has been genetically tested to ensure that he is clear of the conditions that poodles are more prone to.

The puppies will come with:
1. 1 year genetic health guarantee
2. 48 hour disease guarantee (parvo, etc.)
3. Microchip with lifetime registration so you can change your information any time
4. Vaccinated
5. Dewormed x4
6. 30 days of insurance through Trupanion
7. Crate training started
8. Litter training
9. Puppy pack with toys, blanket that smells like mom and siblings, grooming supplies, food, and more.

All potential families are being asked to complete a questionnaire to help us get to know you.

Red Puppy... What a boy! He is non-stop playing with a snuggly side. As you can see from the photos, he does not sit still! It took 3 tries for this photoshoot because he just wanted to check everything out. But once he is finally worn out, he wants to cuddle up with someone.

Brown Puppy is another gentle giant. He is a bit more playful, but will do anything to snuggle up on your chest and rest his head under your chin. He wouldn't sit still long enough to get great photos, but that's just because he kept trying to get close to me for a cuddle.
